03/02/2025 Theme for 'Macro Mondays': "Ring"
(Fujinon 50-140 with 4x magnification lens)
Largest kingfisher in Americas with exceptionally enormous bill and raucous calls. Blue-gray with shaggy crest, white collar, and rufous belly.
Extremely common Gull. Regardless, I thought the golden glow of the hour made for a very nice image here.
Species: Turdus torquatus.
Derbyshire, UK.
Ring ouzels are roughly the size and shape of a blackbird. Males are mostly black, with a broad white crescent across the breast and white edging to the wings and some body feathers, which gives them a scaly look. Females are similar, but the black is often more brownish, and the white parts duller. Info: The Wildlife Trusts.
Many thanks to people who view or comment on my photos.

Got this ring from my dad years ago. I think he said it was made by my grandfather or maybe it was my great grandfather I'm not sure now. Made from a horseshoe nail.

The ring my late stepfather gave to my mother for their engagement. Mum didn't seem to mind it being photographed. Scene size I forgot to measures, but the ring is about 0.75inch across.

What a glorious afternoon! I was prevaricating about heading out - that wind! - but then I thought: You can't take pictures if you don't show up.

My dad worked for one of the big three automotive industries in Detroit. As an electrician, he was sent out to fix things that broke down in the shop. On slow days, when the line was running smoothly, he had extra time on his hands.
He found little things to fill his downtown, and this was one example. In the summertime, when Peaches from ROMEO, Michigan, were abundant, he would eat his peach at lunchtime and then start filing down the pit to make a peach ring.
He made many and I can see why since they all displayed different patterns, one prettier than the next. He brought them home for my mom and me. I thought they were special then but they are even more special to me now.
I might ask, "how many would know that these are peach pits if you had not read my description?"
