It was storming over the wrongly-named Pacific Ocean last night, so I spent about an hour taking (or trying to take) 183 pictures of lightning. It's not as easy as one might think. In any case, these 12 turned out the best, and there's something about each picture that I like, so I decided to share them all.

Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye
Fade to black Metallica
(Yeah a real positive song)

This was from a lightning / thunderstorm moving into Pittsburgh on March 15,2012 at night. Got some decent shots of lightning from in the yard at the house.

This is a reposted image. The earlier post had tons of lens dust and spots that I wanted to clean up.
A burst of lightning fills the cloudy night sky with eerie blue and purple luminescence. In the foreground a large maple tree that's seen it's share of thunderstorms and sever weather. This is my first capture of lighting and I didn't need to travel far to get it. I took this photograph from the safety of my home with the camera setup at our back door. This is a lovely old tree and has provided many great compositions for my photography.
