The fact that it defies legal classification is proof that the sharing economy is new and different. In a world where business-as-usual creates extreme inequality and ecological destruction, we desperately need something new and different. But the "sharing economy" we usually hear about in the media is built upon a business-as-usual foundation. If the high-profile companies like Airbnb, Lyft, Über, Sidecar, and TaskRabbit are to fulfill the dream and promise of the sharing economy, they need a new business model. For now, these companies are privately owned, venture-capital funded corporations. That’s a problem for both economic and legal reasons. On one hand, these companies open economic doors. In times of high unemployment, it is comforting to know they are there. I know of people who, right now, simply couldn’t make ends meet without Airbnb or TaskRabbit. But it’s dangerous to take comfort in the simple fact that these companies create new opportunities to make a living. It’s a double-edged sword, because the shareholders of these companies are getting rich because good stable jobs are otherwise scarce in this economy. In that respect, the sharing economy companies could even have a disincentive to create a world where we have zero percent unemployment. Even if society achieves zero percent unemployment, companies like Lyft and Über will remain relevant and important, because ridesharing is a powerful way to reduce carbon emissions, to save money on transportation, and to reduce traffic. But I suspect that Lyft and Über are earning a lot of their money because people currently give rides to strangers with the primary motivation of making ends meet.

Traveling In Germany Europe Using BlaBlaCar
If you want to travel across Germany in a car you can go the traditional route and rent a car, or you can try something different, Bla Bla Car.
With the rise of the ride-sharing economy, people can hop a ride with locals going where they need to go, and BlaBlaCar is the reigning king of this service. This service is wildly popular and widely available in Europe, and I have used it a number of times. You can rideshare with people who have extra space in their car. It's easy. You find a ride, they agree to take you, and you're off. It is possible to find rides for as little as five euros.
Getting around Europe on a budget is easy with this service. You can meet locals, speak with them, and save a ton of money over bus and train travel.
You can also find websites that allow you to request rides, as long as you pay for the gas. Gumtree is a favorite of backpackers.
I personally haven't tried the Southern Germany itinerary below using this method but for those on a budget, it can be an option to seeing the country and the great sites. Otherwise, just rent a car and travel worry-free at your own pace.
Touring Southern Germany
The journey I am going to talk about begins in Lindau on Lake Constance. You can fly into either Frankfurt or Zurich to get there pretty easily. As we continue west along this route, you'll pass a number of impressive castles, before arriving in Baden Baden, a spa town.
March 30, 2022. Lynn, MA.
Drivers, riders, union members and community leaders gathered at the steps of Lynn City Hall to protest low wages and a ballot question that they say would allow companies such as Uber and Lyft to strip benefits and protections from them.
During the protest, drivers from Lynn spoke out against their current wage of $4.82 an hour, saying it is inadequate to live on that rate of pay.
The ballot question supported by large companies would, if voted yes on, classify drivers for rideshare and delivery companies, who accept requests through digital applications, as independent contractors, and not employees or agents.
The companies are also sponsoring a bill in the Massachusetts state legislature that would classify drivers of rideshare services and delivery companies as independent contractors under state law.
In response to the ballot question, a coalition of labor and civil rights groups known as Massachusetts is Not For Sale held four events in Lynn, Springfield, New Bedford and Roxbury on Wednesday protesting the proposed question.

On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, Mike and I departed our downtown residence at the 360 Condominiums building to catch a flight to Pennsylvania to visit my family -- our first trip since I was diagnosed with lymphoma the previous December and after I finished my final chemotherapy treatment earlier in the month. While we waited for our rideshare driver to arrive, I snapped a photo of this interesting hanging art installation in the atrium on our building. The work was created by Connie Arismendi and Laura Garanzuay and is titled Water Tree. A press release by condo developer Novare describes the installation as follows: ''A modern, elegant mobile showcasing discs emblazoned with images of nature in and around Austin. A computer-programmed, low-energy LED lighting system shines the colors of the 360 logo to highlight scenes within the images on the discs. This constantly changing light has already become a signature of the entrance to 360 at night.''

Fiat Chrysler really has not been doing much exciting work with the Chrysler brand in the past few years, and the shrinking lineup is proof the brand is on the way down. Despite this, one car in the lineup has received a new life in a completely different space. The Chrysler Pacifica is the ur-example of a minivan, and for whatever reason, it is very popular with autonomous driving companies. Combine this with the sheer amount of space the van provides, and the Pacifica also makes an attractive option for ridesharing companies looking to appeal to people on the move. It is worth noting that Chrysler did show off the Portal concept car at CES 2017, and it looked like a very high-tech minivan with automated driving... Despite top billing in the name of parent Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Chrysler brand’s future is uncertain. Chrysler only sells two cars in the United States, and plans for future models are hazy. But FCA may have a plan for Chrysler, and it may involve shifting the historic brand to focus on shared vehicles, reports Autocar. Chrysler didn’t warrant a mention in FCA’s new five-year plan, which primarily focused on Jeep, Ram, and the automaker’s Italian brands. But Waymo recently announced that it would buy up to 62,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans (it already has 600) for conversion into self-driving cars. This could be the future direction of the Chrysler brand. “The minivan business space will be filled by Chrysler, filling the mobility solution in the U.S. market,” FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne told Autocar. The magazine also reported that Chrysler is slated to get one new model, either a second minivan or an SUV. Click Here to Keep Reading
