Flies can be tricky to shoot this close, often they'll take off if you get within a foot, but occasionally one will cooperate.
Shot with a 24mm reversed onto extension tubes. The flash is on a hinged hot shoe that leans the flash out over the lens stack. A DIY snoot with diffusion fires the light in front of the lens.

Here is the penultimate shot from my batch taken during the Five Counties Hockey League premier division match between Bedford Hockey Club ladies second XI and West Herts Hockey Club ladies seconds. The reverse side of a Schultheiss Bierdeckel from 1963. It is one of my oldest, and its thickness reinforces this. So do the wear and stains. It shows some of the old medals, but more important, the famous Schultheiss trademark of a mayor with Amtskette (chain of office), holding a beer stein very close to the viewer.
The Schultheiss brewery was founded in 1842. From mergers, it now produces most of Berlin's major brands of beer. It is part of the Radeberger group, which in turn is a unit in the Dr. Oetker conglomerate.
