Playing around with the negative space concepts a bit more, looking for some better shapes to use for islamic tessellation tilings.
I like this side better, for some reason.
This one is relatively easy to fold- not many reference creases needed at all. Taking it to a larger scale might be trickier, though...
The closest thing I've had yet to a "squircle".

My wife and I went to hang out with my cousin and her daughter yesterday. She's a Yoga instructor and showed me a picture that she had found of an amazing Yogi doing reverse prayer so we decided to try to recreate it. With the heat wave we're having this became an inadvertent Bikram session. This was taken with nothing more than a sheet, a table lamp in front of her and natural light via a window at cam right. I did a little quick post work to get rid of some sheet detail. Unfortunately she didn't know where she found the image so I can't credit the original photog =( The reference was done in a studio w/ off cam strobes and was stunning; so on the off chance that photographer sees this I'll go on record saying, you rock, yours is better, and thanks for the inspiration =)

Origami Coaster (Lewis Simon)
squares, 8 units, no glue
I reverse-engineered this coaster from a photo - very nice and simple design, only 3 folds for each unit and locks safely too. Does anybody know the author of this model? I feel like it could be traditional but I might be wrong.
Please let me know if you recognize this one!
Superimposed image - model (Charlie) was shot in empty room and background added

1st legended: why is my image always reversed right-side-left but never up-side-down ?

Study of the day:
La désirAnce est-elle re-jonction de la dis-jonction désire-croyance ?
Qu'est-ce alors que le plan de désirAnce ?
Fenêtre-t-il ses miroirs, ou mire-t-il ses ouvertures ?
Is desirAnce the re-junctive dis-junction of desire / croyance (belief) ?
So what is the plane of desirAnce ?
Is it windowing its mirrors, or mirroring its windows ?

Reverse bokeh because generally you will see bokeh in the background, but I put it in the foreground and kept background sharp

Brief note on reverse (below).
The moment of firing, a member of an unidentified Fußartillerie regiment pulls the firing cord of a 21cm Howitzer m/10 (dubbed by its crews simply as Der Mörser).
Of note is the gun's rear spade, it is not in its usual position ie: dug into the ground. It is possible that this is the first firing of the weapon in this position and the spade has yet to be 'bedded in'.
I have seen other examples of this photograph much clearer than this one. A commercial card, it was available for purchase by soldiers to send home with a message on the back.

Day 3
When I see this photo I realize that my yesterday's photo isn't bad hahaha.
But you know, I'm starting to like the photo haha.
Taken with a 24mm reversed onto extension tubes. Flash is on a hinged hot shoe and leaned out over the end of the lens stack. A DIY snoot fires the light in front of the lens.

No 4 of a set of 7 views of the Somme area by E. Rössner, ca. 1915. The color prints have the format of postcards, but they lack the usual division on reverse. They were apparently not produced commercially, but perhaps by a regimental print shop. A soldier added explanatory notes on reverse by hand.
