Not posted for a while due to a bit of an adventure...more on that to come! Looking down on the clouds as they drift lazily over the landscape is a beautiful peaceful sight. Set alarm clocks for an early start, always worth it.

Olympic Mountain range, taken from Port Angeles, Washington
It seems that most times I am in or near the Olympic Mountains the tops of them are shrouded in clouds or fog. So when I looked out the kitchen window of the cabin where I was staying and saw the morning sunlight on the peaks, I grabbed my camera and went outside.
It was a bit challenging to find an angle for a photo that didn't include nearby rooftops or the light pole that wanted to intrude on all the best views. But I finally found a spot to get a mostly unobstructed view!

I have to confess to getting a little worried at this point on my ascent of Side Pike! The inversion seemed to be climbing as quickly as I was and a thought it may not be possible to actually get above it!
I needn't have worried though as I climbed further the misty cloud settled and drifted back down to the valley sides, revealing the Langdale Pikes and surrounding Peaks. I took this hand held with my little camera as I climbed Side Pike, just in case the cloud continued to rise and I couldn't get a tripod shot on my big camera from the summit.
As it was I got quite a few decent shots from the summit as the sun began to set. I will post a panorama of the late scene just before Christmas.
