All food sold at Hillside is served on reusable dishes, which are then washed and used over and over.
I spent most of the day working on this. Frustration was high! Between not being able to get the measurements right and, running out of ink, and several tries, this is what I ended up with . I am not happy with it, but it was a learning experience. I am going to redo it with some changes. Each window is a different size and my images ended up being way out of proportion. But, at least AI did learn a few things.
My new plan is to use the same images, size them all the same--about 3x5 inches and make a five window mat. Hopefully i won't spend as much time as I did today.

I sanded, oiled and re-upholstered this little piano chair. Bought it for R95 and it was looking sad and grey.
I really like wood. and linseed oil.
I am working on getting some re-useable grocery totes made, this one was sort of an experiment to see if poly fiber will hold its form ok, the first set was a cotton blend and pressed real nicely. (didnt take pictures before i gave them away)
It's pretty simple really, The ReUse Project is about finding multiple uses for things and throwing nothing away that doesn't have to be. ReUsing is kind of like Recycling, only we arent geting rid of things, we are finding new uses for them.
Here are a few examples of how you might ReUse...
Example 1:

Photos from a dress rehearsal of the 2016 production of "A mid-summer night's dream" at the University of Minnesota, Morris, directed by Ray Schultz.
These are, for the most part, completely unedited and being posted "as is". I'll try to clean up the lighting and color on a few of the better ones and post them later, but these are pretty much the raw dump. All I've done here is remove things that are terribly out of focus, or have some other really obvious problem.
This production used recycled/reused materials for both the set and costuming whenever possible.
Many thanks to Ray and the cast and crew for letting me barge in and take pictures during this rehearsal. The show was enormously fun, and I really enjoyed shooting.
How many of you remember making these as a Kid? I do,,, If you were Lucky enuff to know someone or befriend someone who was a lineman you gots LOTS O WIRE..if not you would scavenge around telephone poles for scraps.

This week's Nomad theme is re-use. I've already posted a picture than touches on this theme, so I'm going to re-use it.
[A learning process took place here. I tried to be clever and link to the original posting with a blank space instead of a picture, but the conversation below led me to this alternative which is an 'edges found' version of the original picture.]

"Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably. Evergreen, a national charity, has transformed the former Don Valley Brick Works from a collection of deteriorating heritage buildings into an international showcase for urban sustainability and green design that is open year-round." To me this site symbolized the transformation of something that was decrepit, dark, forgotten and forlorn into a space where the community can interact with thier natural surroundings. Children are encouraged to play outside with natural materials (sticks, branches and leaves) and parents only smile when they see their child covered in mud from jumping into a mud puddle as opposed to being concerned by germs and bacteria (like many ecophobic parents are today). The brickworks also acts as a place of renewal, as the polluted waters of the Don River travel through restored wetlands on the site, the water is filtered from toxins, salt and contaminated runoff.
I just cant get enough of this place and will definitely make return visits in the future.

My parents bought this highchair at a garage sale for me 34 years ago. Now my son used it on his trip to his grandmas. I love this chair.

Time Capsules Reflections of Our Changing Community
This project was initiated in 2016 to develop a creative response to enhance the sidewalk conditions surrounding the new concrete wall being built at the CPS Energy Substation at Blanco Road. Roberto C. Treviño, City Councilman District 1 encouraged a partnership that would take advantage of the new construction, engage the neighborhood and educators, and improve the pedestrian experience through beautification. City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture, through its public art program, Public Art San Antonio (PASA), proposed to design a series of metal frames to display artwork by students from nearby schools.
PASA worked with the San Antonio-based arts non-profit, Spare Parts, to create a program for art students at North East Independent School District’s Nimitz Middle School, Lee High School, and the International School of the Americas, as well as lead Spare Parts Artist Kim Bishop. Over 150 students created artworks inspired by creative reuse and theme "change." Through a juried process, 15 artworks were chosen for final production and were installed in May 2018. Custom metal frames were designed and built by French & Michigan, a local multidisciplinary studio, workshop and gallery.

The spare parts MINI ART MUSEUM celebrates Big Art Day for Youth Art Month during Contemporary Art Month in San Antonio, Texas. On March 3, 2016 we visited School of Science and Technology-Discovery (art teacher: Kristi Garcia) & Nimitz Middle School (art teacher: Eric Cavazos) in San Antonio, Texas. Exhibition, “That Thing On The Side Of The Road” curated by Hills Snyder. Students went on a tour of the museum and participated in a creative reuse project inspired by the exhibition.
