Flashes and a rainbow of batteries
For "Looking close... on Friday!" ; theme : "reusable or recycled".
This piece was made from discarded color/shape studies from a client identity job. I usually generate a lot of quick little studies which leaves me with a lot of unused vectors.
I'm a firm believer in re-using the almost forgotten in new ways.

The William Westerfeld House sits across the street from the northwest corner of Alamo Square at 1198 Fulton Street (at Scott St.) in San Francisco. Constructed in 1889 at a cost of $9,985, the home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is San Francisco Landmark Number 135.
William Westerfeld, a German-born confectioner, arrived in San Francisco in the 1870s. By the 1880s, he had established a chain of bakeries. He hired builder Henry Geilfuss to design for his family of six a 28-room mansion with an adjoining rose garden and carriage house.

One of the pieces at a special exhibit of the work of Shih Chieh Huang, an artist based out of Taipei. He takes objects like discarded plastic bags, old computer fans and motion detectors to create pieces that move and "breathe" in accordance with movement around them. On exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum.
Medieval classical reception in it's purest form, spolia. Much of the east end of the Pisa Duomo is built from roman temples and public buildings.
so I was tired of spending way too much for those disposable swiffer dusters and made some washable ones out of fleece. they are quick and easy, and work great. I highly recommend making your own. :)
Ancient Byzantine church from the 9th century with reused ancient materials dating back to the rule of emperor Basilios I. Its frescoes are from between the 13th to 15th century, during the time of the "Empire of Trebizond". Especially notable are the frescoes of elite officials from the then imperial court, with stately portraits showing off their luxurious oriental clothing. The church has been renovated in recent years, recovering its frescoes.
Trabzon (Trebizond or Trapezounda) was an important, independent Byzantine capital of the so called Empire of Trebizond (1204-1461), in the eastern Pontic Alps of north-eastern Turkey, at the Black Sea. It flourished due to its important trade location as a crossroad of the Silk Roads.
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I usually see mussels on the beach attached to bigger sea shells or rocks, maybe to anchor them through the tides. But this colony of mussels had made their bed on a discarded plastic water bottle. Very imaginative and it will float on the tides as they ebb and flow..
Happy Earth Day, ya'll
Reuse more, waste less.
Keep them bushes tidy
and above all don't litter!
Every little bit helps :)

Sewn by my mom, per my request (when two years ago I was less crafty than now). Most fabrics were salvaged, she hadn't bought a single thing for making it. She drew the buildings, though. (Feb. 21st 2009)

Articulated puppet of Milhaus from my LEGO brickfilm animation Bort Sampson. This is course was based off the real Bart Simpson's bespectacled friend Milhouse.
This is an elaborate and ambitious mixed-media project that I've been gradually producing since late October 2019, which blends stop-motion with live action – similar to my Zelda Cereal Animation and Shrek Chicken Nuggets videos.
Without giving away any spoilers, this video involves Bort and Milhaus engaging in combat over some gasoline discovered in a nature park in Sprungfeld. The main set was a large tabletop scene of LEGO flowers and trees, with a lot of backgrounds and B-roll reused. The climax features a large mountainside set constructed of Springfeld Gorge. Each puppet was built with the same articulation and design patterns of my previous Link and Kokiri kid puppets in the Zelda Cereal video, such as the usage of Mixels joints.

Monster High Venus McFlytrap didn't have to use her pollen persuasion to convince these ghouls to reduce, reuse, recycle.
I like Venus a lot, but she hasn't been much of a muse to me yet for pictures. Luckily, I got the Barbie Recycling Time accessory pack with I ordered the Create-A-Monster torsos from Mattel Shop online, and that inspired this pic. :)
Mildread (Skeleton), Meriel (Sea Monster), Andromeda (Three-Eyed), Falkora (Dragon), and Beetina (Bee) are all decked out with their new torsos, Monster High fashions, and Liv wigs. So happy to have them complete! :D
The new office is more or less done.
So for the recycle reuse theme (WAH) I give you:
The chair - i got 'donated' this by my parents as a student; done up for us as a pressie by my in laws
The table - bought by us last weekend, specifically for the room, from a local junk shop; a lovely slightly warped old thing. But I am in love with it!
The filing cabinet - rescued from being chucked out many years ago.
And you can just see the tops of two lenses - one (the 55-200) bought from e bay; the other (18-55) sent to me from a Flickr mate in Canada when my old one broke (you know who you are!). It was 'gathering dust'.
I am a firm believer in mending, reusing, recycling or re selling.
I hate this disposable society where everything time expires then has to be thrown away.
