In my new garden I have a tiny vegetable patch which is being undermined by a family of five badgers.
They dig under the fence from my neighbours garden and fling all my lovingly planted seedlings into the air.
I have decided to try and see if a raised bed will deter them.
The builder left behind some unused bricks, so I piled them on top of one another and infilled the space with home made compost and spent mushroom compost.
Only time will tell if it will be sucessful.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha encourages people to reduce, reuse and recycle by displaying 550 plastic bags, the average number of plastic bags that the average American uses each year.
This is the storage solution I came up with for my (currently) unused magnets. I'm seriously addicted to magnets & can't possibly use them all at the same time. So, the rotation is easier if they have a special place of the own. And I got to reuse an egg container ! (ALL the magnets shown here were purchased on Etsy)
The centerpiece of this bracelet is an old reused earring with a yellow center circled with rhinestones. The band is strung beads. The earring has 4 beaded charms hanging from it.

This is on another one of those accumulator sites that just seem to self harvest data from elsewhere, without a farmer around to plant things. I tend to find them quite depressing, and wonder how many pages of the internet are now these ghostly accumulators...
Still, some foragers seem to be visiting these places and moving on from there to richer lands. I followed one foragers trail backwards, to come across this site.

The 3rd Annual Fashion Trashion event at the University of Minnesota, Morris. This event is run by the Studio Art folks, who have students in the intro 3-D studio course create costumes out of recycled, reused, or repurposed materials. This is a always a huge success, with lots of really creative work and a ton of fun for the audience.
Jess Larson is the MC, Jennie Nellis taught the course this year, and the judges are Troy Goodnough (Sustainability Coordinator), Jennifer Deane (History), Jacquie Johnson (Chancellor), Ray Schultz (Theatre), and Hilda Ladner (Multi-ethnic Programs)
Missing pieces on items doesn't mean no value. I sold this underwater camera housing with an essential missing piece for $66. Sure, it's not full value.. but it's a lot more than I would have gotten by tossing it - and someone else is able to make us of it.

Reuse of structure, demolishing materials and urban waste-flows.
Many 1950s apartments do not meet current housing standards for space or insulation and are therefore being demolished.
However some 90% could be reused.
In our proposal we keep the structure, put penthouses and roof-gardens on top and lower the ground floor.
With a climatefacade designed as a mosaic of reclaimed window-frames the apartments can be updated and used for another 50 years.

It reminds us of the box Nerds come in.
I find it fascinating how nature reuses shapes and lines across animals, plants and geology. To me this points to some levels of perfection acheived in those shapes, both in efficiency of energy and natural engineering.

This marble came in as a piece salvaged from a countertop. I did some shaping to it to create this cloud and welded a sturdy steel base to match.
Salvaging old barn wood planks and saved a few of the bigger nails.

A volunteer goes reusable by bringing his own bucket and reusable garden gloves! Nothin' But Sand beach cleanup for Earth Day, Santa Monica Beach. Ian Somerhalder (from the CW T.V. show The Vampire Diaries) and the Ian Somerhalder Foundation were present, as was Eric Benet, Maggie Grace, and many more personalities. A record breaking 2,100 volunteers attended!

This is what my family uses for the majority of our paper towel needs. We cut up old shirts that are not good enough to donate and use them in place of paper towels.
These will still last through several more washings.
