Race the Waves is one of the UKâs most exciting vintage motorsport events, held annually on the sandy beaches of Bridlington, East Yorkshire. It's a celebration of classic speed, style, and seaside culture, where the roar of engines meets the roar of the crowd. Hosted by Backfire Promotions, the event brings together a vibrant mix of vintage and retro vehicles in a dynamic beach drag race setting.
You'll see an incredible variety of machines, from pre-1950s hot rods, bobbers and custom motorcycles to military vehicles and American classics. The cars and bikes arenât just for show, they race head-to-head in thrilling sprints across the beach, kicking up sand and nostalgia in equal measure. There's no official timing, it's all about style, sound and spectacle.

The term "collective memory" denotes the aggregate of memories and knowledge, that a social group holds, which is intrinsically linked to the group's identity. Maurice Halbwachs, a philosopher and sociologist, developed this concept in his 1925 work, «Les cadres sociaux de la mémoire». Various social collectives can create, disseminate, and inherit collective memory.
Contrary to the term "collective memory, the notion of "collective memories" is inherently problematic. Memories are the results of the individual acts of recollection, making the idea of "collective memories" paradoxical. Diffusion models, utilizing vast amounts of data, including historical and personal old photographs, may be seen as involved in the prompts-driven singular acts of remembrance, producing images that paradoxically represent "collective memories," something otherwise unfeasible and ultimately, non-existent.

High angle view of the Great Theatre, situated in Ephesus, an ancient Greek city in Selçuk, Izmir province, Aegean region of Turkey.
The Great Theatre is the most magnificent structure in Ephesus ancient city. It is the largest in Anatolia and has the capacity of 25,000 seats. It is located on the slope of Panayir Hill, opposite the Harbor Street, and easily seen when entering from the south entrance to Ephesus. It was first constructed in the Hellenistic Period, in the third century BC during the reign of Lysimachos, but then during the Roman Period, it was enlarged and formed its current style that is seen today.
