A good portrait should be revealing the essence of the character in the subject.
When you are just meeting a person in one or two hours, how is it possible for you to know his/her real essence in the personality?
When we shoot the model in a group, it is almost impossible for us to have in-depth communication with the model. At the end, I was so easily falling into the situation that I paid a lot of attention on the lines and form of the figure.
Yes indeed I have much interest in fine art nude photography. It is just that we have not been able to find good amateur model.
Have a great Tuesday!
Why do we want to shoot a portrait without emphasis on the face?
Perhaps the body gesture and pose is the more interesting subject?
May be the fashion wear is the focus?
Or the facial expression is deceiving and the body language reveals more truth to us?
This is the portrait shot at Pacific Rim Aviation Academy Open Day. My photo club friends invited the model for portrait shooting together with the planes.
This is Bing Bing. She is actually a K-Pop dancing teacher. She wears Cheongsam (or Qipao), the Chinese body-hugging-one-piece dress on the day.
Have a great Monday and week!

Osaka's Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社, "Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine") is one of Japan's oldest shrines. Founded in the 3rd century before the introduction of Buddhism, it displays a unique style of shrine architecture, called Sumiyoshi-zukuri, that is free of influence from the Asian mainland. Only two other shrine architecture styles are also considered purely Japanese: Shinmei-zukuri as seen at the Ise Shrines and Taisha-zukuri as seen at Izumo Taisha.
A sepia toned reverie, sculpted in light and hush. She stands as though carved from the last warm breath of a fading century—shoulders bare, gaze lifted, hair curled in the soft architecture of mid century glamour. The ornate necklace crowns her collarbones like a vow forged in metal and memory. Every contour glows with the calm authority of someone who has survived her own storms and chosen elegance anyway. This portrait is not merely posed; it is inhabited—a stillness that speaks, a silence that remembers, a beauty that refuses to apologize for its depth.
POEM — “The Sepia Oracle Speaks Softly”
I.
She rises from the hush where old light lingers,
A whisper carved in amber, warm and slow.
The past leans close, brushing her shoulders,
As if to ask what future she intends to hold.
II.
Her gaze is a lantern trimmed in patience,
A vow unbroken by the weight of years.
She wears her silence like a sovereign mantle,
Letting truth arrive without trembling.
III.
The necklace gleams like a forged confession,
Metal shaped by hands that understood longing.
It rests upon her like a quiet prophecy,
Waiting for the moment she chooses to speak.
IV.
Her hair curls in the language of old cinema,
Frames of memory stitched into soft spirals.
Every strand a reel of unspoken stories,
Every shadow a doorway she has already crossed.
V.
She is the calm after a storm that never apologized,
The breath drawn when the world finally loosens its grip.
Her stillness is not surrender but strategy,
A map of battles she no longer needs to fight.
VI.
Light gathers on her skin like a benediction,
A blessing earned through quiet endurance.
She stands unhurried, unhidden, unbroken,
A testament to the art of remaining.
VII.
In her posture lives a myth of reclamation,
A woman returning to herself without ceremony.
The sepia glow becomes her chosen armor,
Soft, unyielding, and entirely her own.
VIII.
She is the echo of a century’s forgotten glamour,
Yet nothing about her belongs to the past.
She is the present, sharpened and luminous,
A truth that refuses to dim for anyone.
IX.
Her beauty is not the kind that begs to be noticed,
But the kind that waits for the worthy to understand.
A quiet fire, a disciplined radiance,
A story told in the spaces between breaths.
X.
And so she stands—an oracle of stillness,
A portrait of becoming rather than being.
In her silence, entire worlds rearrange,
And the future leans in to listen.

The terrified nameless citizenry of 1950s b-movies dressed in colorful outfits are caught in horrified poses as they scream, flee and try to shoot their way out of certain death from off-screen monsters looking to squash them, natural disasters, giant crickets and alien landings.
