And here it is - my outfit for last night's ball. I went for simple faux-Sixties elegance this year, with a dress (actually fairly modern) which I picked up in a charity shop, and accessories gleaned from various lunchtime shopping trips in Wollongong. I'm really pleased with how it all came together.
This was taken with a Canon EOS 550D fitted with a manual focus Olympus OM 50mm f1.8 lens. The photo was then tweaked using PhotoScape, a program that is now just about covering all my digital photo post-editing needs. I used it to add a vignette, then sharpening and adding a noise filter, finally the cross process film effect filter. I like the "tweaked" photo as it has more character than the original. The original image is in my "Olympus 50mm f/1.8 Lens" album.

Retro Ladder Street
Oil and Acrylic on Canvas
The painting is based on an old photo of Ladder Street, Hong Kong. I really like the clothes that the people were wearing which were either white or black which unified the image so well. A deliberate blue tone was added to the painting so as to create a cool jazzy feeling to it. It's also quite a challenge and a lot of fun to paint so many people in one painting. While painting each one of them, I was like going back in time, trying to think and feel what each person's life was like.
"Retro Comfort"
This is a semi-boudoir photo with a retro/classic feel. Hope you enjoy.
B&W with minor tinting.

There is a growing trend in ABQ to recondition old, burnt-out, Route 66 signs along Central Ave, and give them new life. This is such a sign and I believe it is the first of its kind.
Don't know enough about '66 history in ABQ to know what this sign used to be :(
