Thank you soooooo much!!!
This is my other twin, dead one.
Very dark here, but tried my best to capture this brilliant guy and his fashion. Annoyed at myself for being still on f4. I moved quickly half way down the street to get ahead of him and forgot my settings.

We took a "cruise" of Resurrection Bay (and beyond) with Seward Ocean Excursions on a small boat that holds six passengers. Incredible. Somehow we got lucky and the skies were clear all day. Laurie and I both stayed on the back deck enjoying the beautiful scenery.

It has been well said, "What death did to Jesus is nothing compared to what Jesus did to death."
"But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all."
1 Corinthians 15:20-28
Just as Adam's fall was all of our fall, and we are born into sin, desiring sin, so Jesus' victory is the victory for all who repent and believe in Him for salvation. Jesus' resurrection is the seal of assurance on all of His previous works. That we receive perfect righteousness through His sinless life. That we receive justification before God through His atoning death. And that, through His resurrection, we receive spiritual life, no longer dead, but now able to understand, discern, and properly appraise the spiritual truths of God.
A lost soul is in darkness, unable to understand and so rejecting all of this as foolishness. But then God brings that soul into His light, resulting in salvation.
What, then, is the great object of love of the saved soul?
"that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."
Philippians 3:10-11
We desire to know Him and the power of his resurrection. When he wrote this, Paul already knew the Lord Jesus by faith. He knew so much of him as to be able to teach others. He had looked to Jesus, and known the power of his death. But he now desired that the vision of his faith might become still better known by experience.
You may know a man, and have an idea that he is powerful; but to know him and his power over you, is a stage further. You may have read of a man so as to be familiar with his history and his character, and yet you may have no knowledge of him and of his personal influence over yourself.
Paul desired intimate acquaintance with the Lord Jesus, personal fellowship and communion with the Lord to such a degree that he should feel his power at every point, and know the effect of all that he had wrought out in his life, death, and resurrection.
Paul knew that Jesus died, and he aspired to rehearse the history in his own soul’s story: Paul would be dead with Jesus to the world.
He knew that Jesus was buried, and he would be “buried with him in baptism unto death.” He knew that Jesus rose, and his longing was to rise with him in newness of life. Yes, he even remembered that his Lord had ascended up on high, and he rejoiced to say, “and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
His great desire was to have reproduced in himself the life of Jesus, so as to know all about him by being made like him. And that is the desire of every truly born again soul, because that is what God gives us in salvation.
He is risen!
He is risen, indeed!

I've shot this type of plant before, but I wanted to shoot it lit from behind this time. There was something about the light that morning that just made it perfect for backlighting the leaves. Maybe the muted morning colors helped, too.
At Pastor Charles Calvin's home in Tomper, members of his congregation have gathered for food and a study of the Scriptures.**** As they prepare to eat, the discussion continues.
Pastor Calvin: As our Lord said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” *
Life and life anew, both find their sole source in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are born with physical life, but no spiritual. So the second birth is needed! "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’" **
The lost soul can run to God will full confidence when they plead the work of Christ as their hope. That work gives spiritual life! "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive." ***
All: Amen!
Pastor Calvin: He is risen!
All: He is risen indeed!

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY
----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

My dad planted some sunflowers for the tiddlers and I've had my eye on them for a while. Spotted them earlier and had my subject matter for tonight's lighting exercise. I think I prefer how they look more when they are at the end of their life than when they are in full bloom.

Another from the Archives. The exif on the image properties reads July 2004. This is a pink lily (known also as a Surprise Lily, Magic Lily, or Naked Lily). I remember altering it years ago to the shade of purple here. That Olympus camera was also the first exposure (haha) to Macro photography with its little flower setting.

I've always been fond of old brick and cobblestone streets. I think of the hands that laid the bricks down one by one, creating streets full of character and beauty. In Chicago most of these streets diseappeared long ago--either torn up or unceremoniously buried beneath layers of asphault. And yet this was not the final chapter for all of these streets. After decades of confinement some of the bricks began to emerge from their cold graves. Once more could they bask in the warmth of the sun, delight in the voices of children walking by, feel the kiss of falling rain, and sleep peacefully under the light of the moon.
