Spike is an avid classic car collector in southeast Michigan. I was honored to have a tour of his collection on August 6, 2014 along with my flickr contact ROGERIO MACHADO who was visiting from his home in Brazil. While we were here, his neighbor dropped by in his tastefully modified 1947 Dodge Pickup.

The GM Futurliners were a series of Bus-like vehicles designed to travel the US, bringing displays of new and exciting 20th Century technologies to US rural communities.
Most of the Futurliners were built during late 1939, ready for the tours in 1940.
The Futurliners were retired during the late 1950s, as GM's community displays took a back seat to the Motorama motorshow experience.
After many years, these Motorama buses found new purposes. Futurliner 9, shown here, was refurbished to a motorhome from 1984.
The scheme was changed from red over silver to white over red shown here. Additional windows were added at the sides.
The interior has a bar on the left hand side, with a lounge/sleeping area at the rear of the Futurliner.
Futurliner 9 also received some resto-mod help, with a late 1940s Chevrolet inline six 'stovebolt six' in place of the four-cylinder power originally specified.

As a style statement though, the Futurliners are an awesome mid-20th Century rolling monument to modernism.
This Lego miniland-scale 1940s General Motors Futurliner 9 - Motorhome Conversion has been created for Flickr LUGNuts' 103rd Build Challenge, titled - 'The Fabulous Forties!' - a challenge for any vehicle produced through the decade of the 1940s.

I bought a pre built Lego F40, with missing pieces. Using what I had on hand I upgraded it. I tried to make it look closer to an F50 but it falls short of the mark. I may change it more it or just scrap it entirely. I haven't decided yet. Let me know what you think of it in the comments.
Düsseldorf, at the Classic Remise
This 1 of 1 Porsche restomod was created by specialist Paul Stephens and features a unique Spyder body.
Porsche’s 911 is one of the worlds most successful sports cars, something that has been hard-earned over its 50-plus years of evolution. The German marque has offered its flagship model in just about every flavor imaginable, but there’s one body type that has rarely been seen on 911s — Spyder. Some years ago retromod specialist Paul Stephens set out to change that with the PS Spyder.
Paul knows a thing or two about creating bespoke classic 911s as he was the brains behind the delectable PS AutoArt cars. A few years ago he decided to create a 911 Spyder restomod using a 1989 911 Targa that was in direr need of restoration. He poured over 2000 house of work into the classic Porsche to create something that you’d happily believe the German marque created itself, as this video from Benelux Supercars highlights.

The car retains all that is great and good about 1980’s Porsche styling with those distinctive headlamps and sloping shoulders, but the modifications from standard are pretty extreme. Gone is the windscreen with a small deflector now present, and a pair of eye-catching humps in place of the original Targa hoop.
Its interior harks back to Porsche’s legendary 550 Spyder with red leather, bucket seats, and harnesses creating a classy but minimalist space. Great attention to detail is highlighted with badging and jewel-like switchgear.
The engine is a 3.2-liter flat-six that is now the benefactor of 250hp. Its performance-bump comes thanks to an ECU remap and a lightweight flywheel. While 250hp might not sound a lot, the car weighs just 950kg.
This Porsche sports car is totally bespoke with just one ever being built. It was recently seen for sale with an asking price of £235,000 or around $311,000.
Street Muscle Legends - Chapter 7
Go Dark.
From humble beginnings as a parts-bin discount sports coupe, the first generation Mustang quickly set the standard for the affordable American Muscle Car, going on to sell over 1 million examples in its first three years alone. As popularity grew, there was an increasing customer appetite for more performance-oriented models. The S-Code 1967 Ford Mustang GT Coupe came equipped with a 390 CID V8 big block engine making for a striking coupe with tons of power, personality and style, and this example just got the full PYP restored treatment.
Hope you enjoy!

Inspired by Jonathan Elliot's take on a BMW 2002 restomod. I re-created his 6 wide version first, then decided to go 5 wide. I worked with these motorcycle rims from the start as I thought they fit the proportions a bit better.
It was a real joy to build and hereby I thank Jonathan Elliot for the inspiration. Check him out! www.flickr.com/photos/jon3lliott/
