Updated pictures of a reworked body: If you have followed me or this car you know it has taken many body shapes. Originally trying to do some kind of wide body thing…FAIL! Dialed back to resto…MEH! Always happy with the internals, just couldn’t quite figure out what I wanted out of the body. I’m pleased with this version still maintaining a little bit of a modern look, however if I was to do it over…Thank you to everyone who has supported this build through all of it’s changes and the constructive criticism that pushed me to keep improving it.

Fabulous Firs.

Mr Jon Elliott recently wrapped up a west coast vacation with a visit to Cars & Coffee. We needed help getting the last holiday tree in place and Jon was perfectly equipped to pitch in with his ultra-classy restomod Vantage V8. Cheers, Jon!

This build is an extensively modified version of Jon Elliott’s regal Aston Martin Vantage kit. I upgraded all the light bluish gray elements to chrome, altered the roofline to accommodate Santa Jon, added a utility roof rack, and stanced it on chrome wheels which also appear here with super premium extra flair due to some absolutely brilliant BBS wheel inserts designed by @Prototyp.

I hope you enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Ring in the New Year!

Friends of Yes Please dropped by Cars & Coffee this week for an End of The Year car meet. We got over caffeinated, over chatty and got to kick the tires on some very special projects. Keep your eyes open for some fun stuff coming this year!

Special thanks to my all-star guests @Prototyp, @Jonathan Elliott, and @Legomasino. I made custom minifig versions of you and modified your already brilliant designs this year, and you were all nothing but gracious, encouraging and collaborative. It was really really fun, and I’m glad you could all make it for one final Cars & Coffee bash to close out the year!

I hope you enjoy and Happy New Year!

I'm not sure whether to call this a street rod or a resto-mod but it is beautifully done. Power comes from a 1957 Ford 312 Y-Block. At the Illinois Valley Rodders Car Show, Centennial Park, Peru, Illinois.

This rather intimidating Time Attack Z is set to lay down yet another record at time trials this year. Get downforce or GET OWNED!

Beginning life innocently as one of my heavily modified Legomasino Datsun 240Zs, this example soon found itself unceremoniously dismantled and reformed into this sinister beast. Time Goals!!!!

This is the "restomod" idea applied to a semi tractor. The bodywork is vintage IH 4300, but it's all 2010 LoneStar underneath. I also used the AMT Mercury sleeper and decal stripes from modeltruckin.com

It's a car... it's a truck...

This isn't exactly my MOC. I bought this off of Ebay over 20 years ago, and it stood proudly in my city for many years. The opportunity to display it at Our National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, brought it out of storage, and restoration began. I loved what the original creator did with this so I wanted to keep it as stock as possible, but many of the white bricks had yellowed, so a restoration was required.

I started with a digital rebuild of the original for reference later durring reconstruction. Then I deconstructed it and restored the white parts with Hydrogen Peroxide and sunlight. While the construction could've been better, I kept it the same more or less when I rebuilt it and used as many of the original parts as possible. I discoverd a few Mega blocks in it, which were promptly discarded and replaced with Lego. The interior was the most changed with the upgraded sink, a new drinks dispenser, drawers and cabinets under the counter, additional staff, new cash registers, and menus on the wall. Next I added a roof, which wast required to be in city display, and I added lights to it, making it my first lit building ever. I also added an extra picnic table, moved a gate over, and changed the front windows to match the others.

I want to thank whoever originally built this MOC and sold it to me on Ebay. I don't know who it was as Ebay history dosn't go back that far, But this has been a cherrished part of my collection and will continue to be for many years to come. It will be on display at Our National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows from Nov 18 2022 to New Years eve 2022 as part of the GTW LUG City display.

Street Muscle Legends - Chapter 1

The iconic 1969 Camaro SS continues to be a benchmark reference point for muscular sports coupe designs almost 60 years after its initial debut. This kicks off my Street Muscle Legends series which will emphasize modern restomod RWD proportions finished off with a nice and tidy stance.

The BMW 2002 just never seems to get old to me. Every time I see one, I fall in love again. BMW's late mid century entry level cars strike such a great balance; a tasteful and elevated take on uncomplicated driver's cars with indisputable utility. A timeless formula, and one that deserved another take on my part. Similar to my White Bird 911, this is a complete rethink of my previous 2002 design. Scaled closer to City with a shorter overall height, the proportions are improved between the greenhouse and the body and the size of the wheel/tire combo is more period correct. I just wish I could take this one out for a spin myself!

The super bowl was super lame (IMHO) but at least I got to ride a bike to the bowl down by the Bay with my kid. Snapped this pic of today's ride, a "resto-mod" mountain bike that a volunteer restored with some new parts. It's a fun ride. I kinda want one myself!

Every now and then we have an offworld customer looking to run a new light-speed engine tune or upgrade from a core propulsion system. Sir Vader of Darth brought us a salvage-title TIE looking for the works, which resulted in this exciting restomod project.

The build spec includes a Stage 2 Twin Ion Engine tune for post-empire Gen 1 Tie Fighters, light weight wing supports, all new electronics and new stealth panel paint including exo-atmospheric nano protection and a Gen 2 fully pressurized cabin update.

This baller hauler is a café racer style 1969 Volvo Amazon 122S restomod, ready to kick some ass and take some names.

Replete with roll cage, racing seat and a dual exhaust, this beast is anything but your average family grocery getter.

Shout out to @Jonathan Elliott for teaming up on this café racer style Amazon wagon build-off challenge. It continues to be really fun to see how differently we both approach the same concept!

This one is definitely "Old School", the engine is a 1950's Oldsmobile Rocket.

I have looked at dozens, if not hundreds, of 1953 through 1956 Ford F-100's at car shows over the years. This is the best I have ever seen. The attention to detail is incredible! The Roush engine is icing on the cake! Photographed at the Hennepin, Illinois Car Show, July 4, 2016.

Street Muscle Legends - Chapter 3

The Torino Talladega was one of Ford's first forays into producing track-focused homologation models intended to dominate the racing scene. The Talladega changed the muscle car landscape by being the first limited production car to incorporate design changes based on wind tunnel testing into both the silhouette, side rocker panels and front fascia of the car, all leading to significant performance enhancements and legendary status. The PYP garage has been humming along all week to the tune of this beastly hunk of 60's muscle and the smiles just keep coming.
