The Graham Company entered into a contract with Hupmobile in 1940 to build a car called the Skylark. Hupmobile soon went out of business which left Graham with a production line set up. The company renamed the car the Graham Hollywood and continued production.

From the cowl back, the car is based on the 1936-37 Cord. Hupmoible had purchased the body dies from the Auburn automobile Company which had gone out of business. Many changes from the Cord were implemented, including a redesigned front end and the conversion from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.

There were 1,859 examples of the Hollywood built with the majority being fitted with a supercharger. Some of the Hollywood cars were raced, and with a power-to-weight ratio that was unmatched, many drivers found success including Bill France, the father of NASCAR.

The supercharged six-cylinder engine produced 124 horsepower and rested on a 115-inch platform. the car weighs just 2,365 pounds and sold for $1,250 when new.

My version is what is considered a "resto-mod" which is short for restored-modified. It has a V-8 engine, a lowered ride height, shaved bumpers and low-profile tires. Built for the 78th LUGNuts challenge "Places everyone!"

Fun Factor.

I'm back again with another take on the GOAT Kart, the classic Mini Cooper S. Famously way more fun than any spec sheet would suggest, the Cooper S is the very embodiment of the outrageous fun to be had by driving a slow car fast.

This design sits one plate lower than the 2019 TLG design, and thanks to a panel-based floor pan trap inspired by the 4w community, a minifigure can sit a full two plates lower than the TLG model, as low as possible while still being able to secure the roof overhead.

Despite having some light stance and an offset wheel-tire setup, this design rolls smoothly and displays great. 2x6 tiles are used for the roof creating a rear spoiler overhang, and the roof can also be built with no overhang if that look is preferred.

I hope you enjoy!

The BMW 2002 just never seems to get old to me. Every time I see one, I fall in love again. BMW's late mid century entry level cars strike such a great balance; a tasteful and elevated take on uncomplicated driver's cars with indisputable utility. A timeless formula, and one that deserved another take on my part. Similar to my White Bird 911, this is a complete rethink of my previous 2002 design. Scaled closer to City with a shorter overall height, the proportions are improved between the greenhouse and the body and the size of the wheel/tire combo is more period correct. I just wish I could take this one out for a spin myself!

This baller hauler is a café racer style 1969 Volvo Amazon 122S restomod, ready to kick some ass and take some names.

Replete with roll cage, racing seat and a dual exhaust, this beast is anything but your average family grocery getter.

Shout out to @Jonathan Elliott for teaming up on this café racer style Amazon wagon build-off challenge. It continues to be really fun to see how differently we both approach the same concept!

The GM Futurliners were a series of Bus-like vehicles designed to travel the US, bringing displays of new and exciting 20th Century technologies to US rural communities.

Most of the Futurliners were built during late 1939, ready for the tours in 1940.

The Futurliners were retired during the late 1950s, as GM's community displays took a back seat to the Motorama motorshow experience.

After many years, these Motorama buses found new purposes. Futurliner 9, shown here, was refurbished to a motorhome from 1984.

The scheme was changed from red over silver to white over red shown here. Additional windows were added at the sides.

The interior has a bar on the left hand side, with a lounge/sleeping area at the rear of the Futurliner.

Futurliner 9 also received some resto-mod help, with a late 1940s Chevrolet inline six 'stovebolt six' in place of the four-cylinder power originally specified.

As a style statement though, the Futurliners are an awesome mid-20th Century rolling monument to modernism.

This is sort of a “what would Lino do” (WWLD) idea if I had unlimited time, money, space and know-how. I’d take a plain-Jane Chevy C-10 drop the stance, shave off the door handles and excess badging, tint the windows, give it a visor, and a phantom grille. As an experiment, I replaced the “Dumbo ears” mirrors with those from a 2019 Volkswagen Beetle and moved them to aft of the front pillars. Copper deep 6-spoke rims and a root beer with gold flake paint job finishes out the look nicely. Whatcha think?

Other people's nice cars in the street - Classic 1990 Volkswagen Karman Gear RestoMod

Silver is among the world’s most prevalent automotive colors and a boring car color in my opinion. (But a fabulous hair color!) I like to give myself odd challenges and this time the challenge was to make silver exciting and to use a limited color palette. After waffling over which car to draw, I ultimately went with the 1976 Chevy El Camino. First order of business was to drop the stance and give it larger tires and classic five-spoke racing rims. I tapered in the front and rear bumpers and made them the body color as a modern car would have, rather than chrome. Speaking of body color I gave it an eye-catching miles-deep sparkle flake silver. I removed the original taillights then installed quad exhaust pipes in their place. Escalade-style bright LEDs now flank the tailgate. I removed most of the side chrome piping however brought in the rear quarter chrome rocket detail from the entire 1960 Chevy line, including the El Camino. This ties in nicely with the Silver Jet theme and all-in-all borrows modern elements as well as retro.

I don’t always draw the interiors but since replacing the usual bench seat with Eames-style swivel bucket seats came to me in a dream, I had to illustrate it. The jet theme is pushed even further with something like a pilot’s yoke instead of a steering wheel and the dash is replete with modern amenities. For the interior, I was careful to use only the same six colors I used with the exterior. The temptation here for the rest of the composition is to throw in a flashy detail or font with a contrasting color but instead remained true to my original challenge throughout.

To me, the write up in explaining my thought process is just about as fun as doing the drawing and I’m glad to be able to share that with you, even the stuff I dream about. Subtlety is a skill set I don’t always get to use but my opinion is it worked pretty nicely here. What do you all think?

Every now and then we have an offworld customer looking to run a new light-speed engine tune or upgrade from a core propulsion system. Sir Vader of Darth brought us a salvage-title TIE looking for the works, which resulted in this exciting restomod project.

The build spec includes a Stage 2 Twin Ion Engine tune for post-empire Gen 1 Tie Fighters, light weight wing supports, all new electronics and new stealth panel paint including exo-atmospheric nano protection and a Gen 2 fully pressurized cabin update.

The first ever National Woodie Club National Meet, held on September 30, 2017 at Ford Field in Dearborn, Michigan. A fine selection of beautiful woodies were in attendance on a gorgeous autumn day.

The teardrop camper was entirely home-built, as was the woodie body. Amazing craftsmanship exercised by the owner. The wood was crafted from trees on the owner's property. That is more work than I could imagine doing.
