Chōzuya
Il est possible de s'incliner dès l'entrée du sanctuaire, devant le torii. Il est d'usage ensuite de se purifier au chōzuya, en se lavant les mains et en se rinçant la bouche à l'aide d'une louche appelée hishaku (柄杓). Cette purification, nommée o-harai (お祓い), vise à se présenter devant le kami exempt de toute souillure (汚れ, kegare) ou plus généralement de tsumi, péchés.
Il est accoutumé de faire un vœu à l'entrée du haiden ou du honden après avoir fait sonner le suzu (鈴), sorte de clochette géante, et fait offrande d'une pièce dans le saisen bako (賽銭箱, littéralement « boîte à offrandes »). Il s'agit généralement d'une pièce de cinq yens (5円, goen), qui se prononce comme le mot « destin » formulé avec respect (ご縁, goen). Le vœu s’exécute lors d'une succession de gestes appelée nirei-nihakushu-ichirei (二礼二拍手一礼), puisqu'il s'agit littéralement de « s'incliner deux fois, frapper dans ses mains deux fois, s'incliner une fois ». Chōzuya
It is possible to incline at the entrance of the sanctuary, in front of the torii. It is customary then to purify the chōzuya, washing their hands and by rinsing the mouth with a ladle called hishaku (柄 杓). This purification, called o-harai (お 祓 い) is to appear before the kami free from all stain (汚 れ, kegare) or more generally tsumi, sins.
It is customary to make a wish at the entrance of haiden or honden after ringing the suzu (鈴), a sort of giant bell, and an offering of a part in the saisen Bako (賽 銭 箱, literally "box offerings "). It is usually a nickel yen (円 5, goen), which is pronounced like the word "destiny" made with respect (ご 縁, goen). The vow is running at a succession of movements called Nirei-nihakushu-ichirei (二 礼 二 拍手 一 礼), since it is literally "bow twice, clap twice, bow Once ". This is after striking his hands one does his vow, keeping his hands stuck in a position called Gassho (合掌), and we therefore inclines again loosened hands.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but things have been a little "different" lately, right? Even my friends on the street have noticed.
Not all of them get minute by minute news updates like many people do. Nor do all of them understand the extent of what is happening. But it is affecting their lives too. There used to be plenty of traffic for Hillbilly to panhandle in. Now some mornings the neighborhood is like a ghost town. Many of the friendly businesses, pallet yards, recycling places, etc... are closed. No segment of the population seems to be unaffected.
But as I drop food, clothes, etc... off in the mornings (or tonight for Levita, Vera, and Squirrel), there is a level of respect. A hug or handshake has been replaced with a virtual elbow bump. Food gets handed out and I distance myself, and they understand my concerns. Nobody gets offended when I say "Sorry, I can't take ANY chances."
I'm not sure if they observe these new social rules amongst themselves, but I appreciate the fact that understand me.

Just recently, a day hiker lost his footing above Sol Duc Falls and tumbled over two spillways. He is extremely lucky to have survived. As you can see in my photograph the water is a torrent of action as it cuts through this narrow passageway.

Andromeda Rock
In Greek mythology, Andromeda is the daughter of the Aethiopian king Cepheus and his wife Cassiopeia. When Cassiopeia's hubris leads her to boast that Andromeda is more beautiful than the Nereids, Poseidon sends a sea monster, Cetus, to ravage Aethiopia as divine punishment.[1] Andromeda is stripped and chained naked to a rock as a sacrifice to sate the monster, but is saved from death by Perseus.
Her name is the Latinized form of the Greek Ἀνδρομέδα (Androméda) or Ἀνδρομέδη (Andromédē): "ruler of men",[2] from ἀνήρ, ἀνδρός (anēr, andrós) "man", and medon, "ruler".
As a subject, Andromeda has been popular in art since classical times; it is one of several Greek myths of a Greek hero's rescue of the intended victim of an archaic hieros gamos (sacred marriage), giving rise to the "princess and dragon" motif. From the Renaissance, interest revived in the original story, typically as derived from Ovid's account.

In Greek mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, king and queen of the North African kingdom of Aethiopia.
Her mother Cassiopeia boasted that her daughter was more beautiful than the Nereids, the nymph-daughters of the sea god Nereus and often seen accompanying Poseidon. To punish the queen for her arrogance, Poseidon, brother to Zeus and god of the sea, sent a sea monster named Cetus to ravage the coast of Aethiopia including the kingdom of the vain queen. The desperate king consulted the Oracle of Apollo, who announced that no respite would be found until the king sacrificed his daughter, Andromeda, to the monster. Stripped naked, she was chained to a rock on the coast.
Perseus was returning from having slain the Gorgon Medusa. After he happened upon the chained Andromeda, he approached Cetus while invisible (for he was wearing Hades's helm), and killed the sea monster. He set Andromeda free, and married her in spite of her having been previously promised to her uncle Phineus. At the wedding a quarrel took place between the rivals and Phineus was turned to stone by the sight of the Gorgon's head.[3]
Andromeda followed her husband, first to his native island of Serifos, where he rescued his mother Danaë, and then to Tiryns in Argos. Together, they became the ancestors of the family of the Perseidae through the line of their son Perses. Perseus and Andromeda had seven sons: Perses, Alcaeus, Heleus, Mestor, Sthenelus, Electryon, and Cynurus as well as two daughters, Autochthe and Gorgophone. Their descendants ruled Mycenae from Electryon down to Eurystheus, after whom Atreus attained the kingdom, and would also include the great hero Heracles. According to this mythology, Perseus is the ancestor of the Persians.
At the port city of Jaffa (today part of Tel Aviv) an outcrop of rocks near the harbour has been associated with the place of Andromeda's chaining and rescue by the traveler Pausanias, the geographer Strabo and the historian of the Jews Josephus.[4]
After Andromeda's death, as Euripides had promised Athena at the end of his Andromeda, produced in 412 BCE,[5] the goddess placed her among the constellations in the northern sky, near Perseus and Cassiopeia; the constellation Andromeda, so known since antiquity, is named after her.

Andromeda is represented in the northern sky by the constellation Andromeda, which contains the Andromeda Galaxy.
Four constellations are associated with the myth. Viewing the fainter stars visible to the naked eye, the constellations are rendered as:
A huge man wearing a crown, upside down with respect to the ecliptic (the constellation Cepheus)
A smaller figure, next to the man, sitting on a chair; as it is near the pole star, it may be seen by observers in the Northern Hemisphere through the whole year, although sometimes upside down (the constellation Cassiopeia)
A maiden, chained up, facing or turning away from the ecliptic (the constellation Andromeda), next to Pegasus
A whale just under the ecliptic (the constellation Cetus)

The constellation Pegasus, who was born from the stump of Medusa's neck, after Perseus had decapitated her
The constellation Pisces, which may have been treated as two fish caught by Dictys the fisherman who was brother of Polydectes, king of Seriphos, the place where Perseus and his mother Danaë were stranded

Sophocles and Euripides (and in more modern times, Corneille) made the story the subject of tragedies, and its incidents were represented in numerous ancient works of art, including Greek vases. Jean-Baptiste Lully's opera, Persée, also dramatizes the myth.
Andromeda has been the subject of numerous ancient and modern works of art, which typically show the moment of rescue, with Andromeda usually still chained, and often naked or nearly so. Examples include: one of Titian's poesies (Wallace Collection), and compositions by Joachim Wtewael (Louvre), Veronese (Rennes), many versions by Rubens, Ingres, and Gustave Moreau. From the Renaissance onward the chained nude figure of Andromeda typically was the centre of interest. Rembrandt's Andromeda Chained to the Rocks is unusual in showing her alone, fearfully awaiting the monster.

The Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino composed an hour-long operatic drama called Perseo e Andromeda in 2000.
Film[edit]
In 1973, an animated film called Perseus (20 minutes) was made in the Soviet Union as part of the Soviet animated film collection called Legends and mуths of Ancient Greece.[7][8]
The 1981 film Clash of the Titans retells the story of Perseus, Andromeda, and Cassiopeia, but makes a few changes (notably Cassiopeia boasts that her daughter is more beautiful than Thetis as opposed to the Nereids as a group). Thetis was indeed a Nereid and also the future mother of Achilles. Andromeda and Perseus meet and fall in love after he saves her soul from the enslavement of Thetis' son, Calibos, whereas in the myth, they simply meet as Perseus returns home from having slain Medusa. In the film, the monster is called a kraken, although it is depicted as a lizard-like creature rather than a squid; and combining two elements of the myth, Perseus defeats the sea monster by showing it Medusa's face, turning the monster into stone. Andromeda is depicted as being strong-willed and independent, whereas in the stories she is only really mentioned as being the princess whom Perseus saves from the sea monster. Andromeda was portrayed by Judi Bowker in this film.
Andromeda also features in the 2010 film Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1981 version. Several changes were made in regard to the myth, most notably that Perseus did not marry Andromeda after he rescued her from the sea monster. Andromeda was portrayed by Alexa Davalos. The character was played by Rosamund Pike in the sequel Wrath of the Titans, the second of a planned trilogy. In the end of the sequel, Perseus and Andromeda begin a relationship.
In the Japanese anime Saint Seiya the character, Shun, represents the Andromeda constellation using chains as his main weapons, reminiscent of Andromeda being chained before she was saved by Perseus. In order to attain the Andromeda Cloth, he was chained between two large pillars of rock and he had to overcome the chains before the tide came in and killed him, also reminiscent of this myth.
Andromeda appears in Disney's Hercules: The Animated Series as a new student of "Prometheus Academy" which Hercules and other characters from Greek mythology attend.
Novels[edit]
In Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, there are a few references to Andromeda. The most obvious is that the series' lead villains have a cruise ship which serves as their headquarters and is called The Princess Andromeda.
Andromeda is the main character in Harry Turtledove's short story "Miss Manners' Guide to Greek Missology", published in Esther Friesner's Chicks in Chainmail series of humorous feminist fantasy collections, and reprinted in other anthologies afterwards. It is a satire filled with role reversals, puns, and deliberate anachronisms relating to pop culture.
Andromeda is Anna's full name in Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper, which was turned into a movie in 2010. In the novel there are several references to mythology, as Anna's dad Brian is an astronomer in his free time.

Always good storm chasing stories to tell about my weather adventures in 2014.
Days right after my knee replacement... Home from the hospital & I definitely wasn't supposed to be out and about. Knee was almost in a cast and I wasn't supposed to be doing anything to aggravate the situation. Though my quest for severe weather never ends and I wasn't going to miss another possible chase especially when its in my backyard. This storm was going to be a photogenic monster... Decision was made & off I went.
Back @ home. I waddle out to the front driveway & look due east. There are always thunderheads with storms. If your lucky enough to witness one that are simply jaw dropping your indeed lucky. Today was that day.

Personal Note *** On the original set Back in 2014 I had use the free Avery photo editor here Flickr and it wasn't the best but I had no prior knowledge of editing them back then. Only shot in .jpg format and I didn't do the best by over coloring and over saturation. Was very under experienced in photo editing back then.
Another epic set of thunderstorm captures from South Central Nebraska remastered through Lightroom and Photoshop. Though I paid for it with my knee just being replaced. I was super sore and the swelling was unreal a few days after this event. All worth it when it comes to what epic views I caught storm chasing on that particular day!

I noticed it by accident, but it's apparently part of an official campaign.
I tried the Franklin Ave. stop on the 2/3 line, but nothing there. I missed the signage at the Franklin Ave, stop on the A/C lines.

I did not go close to any picture because of respect to the artist. Arbus was undoubtedly unique and the pictures are thought provoking. One bit of interested I did note was not the content but the printing. The early print was made in 1958 and was wonderful grainy being the wonderful Theatre shot (my favourite) and the later shots being the 1970’s had more a fine art feel. It showed me the improvements in film speed and printing over that period. If you live near Hitchin, the exhibition is at the North Hertfordshire Museum next to the town hall. As always what inspired me was not what I expected.
I would like to say I did ask permission before taking my picture.
Well I climbed my first 14er and I have a new found respect for anyone who has done this. What an experience!
Mt. Sherman located is in the Tenmile-Mosquito mountain range, 10 miles west of Fairplay, at 14,036 feet. This 14er is, what I found out later, one of the easiest in Colorado, ranked 45 out of 53. If this is easy I need to get in a lot better shape.
How to explain; jump on a Stairmaster for 3 hours take a 30 minute break then jump on it again just backwards and repeat. Talk about a mental and physical challenge. Between you and me, in my head I gave up about 14 times but somehow I kept going. The last time I was close to the top about a half mile and a few hundred feet in elevation to go, legs on fire, body hated me and I was struggling to motivate myself to go any further. When a 7 year old kid passed me, that was all I needed, I knew at that moment I was going to make it. I’m glad I did, nothing like the feeling of writing your name in the book and what a view!

[4 images in this series] Langworthy Farm, built 1875, near Westerly, Rhode Island, is a fine example of domestic Second Empire style, the mansard roof with the additional top floor contributing to the sense of mass and size. The house is essentially a large 2-story front section with a 1-story wing symmetrically positioned as the rear part of the house. The roof, which can't be viewed as a conventional roof, is of asphalt and uses a fish-scale pattern of shingling. Four interior chimneys and a widow's walk of ornamental woodwork with 4 finials top the dwelling. The expected dormer windows accent the roof with their top arched panes; the windows have elaborate surrounds with elaborate woodwork at the bottom sides. Brackets in the cornice appear to alternate from small to large. The side facades of the front portion of the house have five 2/2 windows with window hoods and green shutters and a 4-sided bay window with 1/1 narrow panes. The bay windows with bracketing at the roof are positioned differently on each side. The rear wing dispenses with window hoods. The entrance is by means of a front porch; the wing has a porch on either side, but they are not identical. The front facade shows 3 dormer windows. Below those on the second floor are 3 windows positioned below the dormers--one pair of very narrow 1/1 panes flanked by wider windows with 2/2; the second floor windows are hooded. The porch extends the width of the house with four slender square posts supporting the roof. The post brackets display ornamental scrollwork. The porch railing consists of turned balusters, and is entered by four wood steps to the entry--a single wooden door with arched transom with a sun-burst design and with sidelights of 4 panes with a vertical orientation.
The house has 15 rooms with 7,400 square feet. It currently functions as a bread & breakfast. It's assessed value is close to $2,000,000. This was a farmhouse when built, although it's difficult to envision this in that usage. The house occupies the site of a former home of Samuel Ward, governor of Rhode Island twice and a founder and trustee of Brown University.
