Dark, swirling storm clouds dominate the sky, casting dramatic shadows over a vast, open field with hay bales scattered across it. A lonely road cuts through the landscape, leading the eye toward the horizon and the approaching tempest.

Midstream Kyauktan Pagoda is located on an isolated island in the river near a fishing village called Ding Yin, about 18 kilometers south of Yangon City. This pagoda built in the temple in the river is unique compared to its Myanmar pagoda.
In the vicinity of Prüm, a small town in the north-western Rhineland-Palatinate, not far from Belgium, spring always starts a few weeks later because of the altitude than in the rest of the state.
The area is very rural and originally marked. You can walk for hours alone on the road and see neither houses nor wind turbines or power lines, a beautiful area to "swim" in nature.

Native to South Africa, this plant with its pea-like flowers is found on dunes, rocky slopes, in forests, along streams, in scrub and open grassland from the Bokkeveld Mountains near Clanwilliam in the Western Cape to Kwazulu-Natal. It's very happy growing on a dry hill in my back yard.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

j'ai un immense respect , aussi , pour les gens qui entretiennent ces cimetières militaires , tout est toujours aligné , le gazon , les fleurs et tout le reste tout est parfait.
I have immense respect, too, for the people who maintain these military cemeteries, everything is always lined up, the grass, the flowers and everything else, everything is perfect.

In my first photograph this morning I mentioned what a Band of Brothers the Vietnam Veterans really are. They faced tough times on their return home from service. Let's be frank, they were treated shamefully - especially since most were conscripts, not volunteers.
But over the past couple of decades there has been a noted change. Now there is real deserved respect for them in our community. Since there are no more WWI veterans with us, and very few from WWII and Korea, the Vietnam vets are now the senior representatives of our returned services. Respect earned. Respect deserved.
That's what I hope this photograph shows. The little girl is looking with a touch of awe at the old man with his walking stick. He's seen tough times, he's lost plenty of mates, but he's a survivor. Respect.

After the tornadoes in south central Nebraska that afternoon. Storms were still percolating and still severe enough to produce what I'm looking for... That wouldn't happen again that day... Oh the structure on those severe storms were truly photogenic. Some of the best Nebraska outflow boundaries of 2018 were in my viewfinder that day.
Though sick as a dog, I proceeded east and stayed ahead of these cells in case they produced again. These storm cells wouldn't give me any more Naders that afternoon, but it sure was fun to follow these remaining storm cells.

Yesterday I attended the funeral service for a precious cousin on the Hennesey side of my family in Cuero, TX. It was bittersweet... he was a wonderful beloved funny & fun person with a magnetic personality with a precious loving family. He will be so missed as he was to his family what Larry was to ours, the patriarch of the family. A husband for over 50 years, a respected father, a precious grandfather... great-grandfather, an amazing uncle, brother, cousin and a admired friend and neighbor!!! It was reflective for me in that 3 months to the day we had my beloved Larry's Homegoing Celebration... so glad that I could be there to support my extended family and in doing so God comforted me through their love and kindness & reflecting on two lives that were fully lived & completely loved!!! Thanking God today & everyday for the blessing of family!!!
One among the few least destroyed structures in Hampi, Elephant Stable is a major tourist attraction. This long building with a row of domed chambers was used to ‘park’ the royal elephants. There are 11 domed tall chambers; some of them are inter- connected. The center one is specially decorated and big. Probably the musicians and the associated band troupes had been using this during ceremonies involving elephant processions.
The whole building looks symmetric with respect to this central hall. The tower of the central hall resembles (though mostly destroyed) more like that of temples. However the five pairs of domes on either side are of Islamic in style. They are better preserved and of alternating patterns.
The cost for the fight for freedom has no price tag...And freedom comes with the privilege of responsibility, towards wise stewardship of our countries.
To our soldiers, we owe everything, for without them what would we have?
Thank you for your sacrifices in the past, and today
Much honour and respect to each of you.

There is a point south of Point Lobos on the Big Sur coastline where waves build offshore and come crashing in. That is not unusual. What is somewhat unique is that the waves continue up a shelf and then all that was collected, flows back out to the ocean. I've seen this three times, and was fortunately enough to be there on a day when the surf was particularly high, and I caught this outflow as it came roaring back.
In 2012, I saw two ... not-too-intelligent humans trying to make their way down to the base. Fortunately for them, their IQs reached equilibrium (zero plus one) and they scampered back up. You cannot imagine the force of this water and the eddies that form around the base rocks. It is beyond beautiful but must always be treated with respect.
This shot was taken while I was up a cliff about 500 feet. The Pacific coast's beauty is unparalleled along this 100 mile stretch.
