This image has been MONTHS in the making. When I first found this figurine on Amazon, I knew exactly what I would do with it haha. It got lost in the mail for a month until I got my hands on it finally last week haha.
I took this on Moraine Lake Road this morning. It was cloudy, rainy and cold. All of these images I now have of Highway Patrol Cartman made my drive out there worth while! Oh how I love South Park haha.

Jack and Chester (rear) are the second oldest and oldest goats at Belmont Audubon Habitat. Jack thinks he's a big shot, and often engages in gentle head butts with Chester. They're both very sweet, and enjoyed lots of brushing when I tended to them earlier tonight.

Respecto a la Feria de Navidad en Valencia, ya en un reportaje del Mundo Gráfico publicado el 1 de enero de 1913, se decía:
"La Feria de Navidad en Valencia, una de las más típicas fiestas populares de la hermosa ciudad, tiene un antiguo origen. Instálase desde hace algunos años en el Parque de Castelar, y en ella, a tenor de los tiempos modernos, junto a las instalaciones características de dichos mercados, figuran el Circo, los "cines", los lujosos "tios - vivos", el progreso industrial, en fin, en todas sus manifestaciones. La feria es un animado cuadro de color al que pone su nota brillante la arrogantísima belleza femenil valenciana".
La primera atracción de noria fue construida para la Exposición Universal de Chicago en 1893, proyectada por el ingeniero George Washington Ferris. Tenía una altura de 75 metros. Menos de la mitad que la mayor noria de la actualidad, la Singapore Flyer, de 165 metros. Otras norias mundialmente conocidas son la London Eye, en Londres, que apareció en una de las películas de la saga de James Bond, o la del Prater, en Viena.

Many people that have mentioned that they’ve never heard of World Photography Day. Why is that? World Photography Day wasn’t ‘created’ by a big brand as a marketing tool. Rather, it’s a day where photographers had started to come together to celebrate photography, just because they could. Any excuse to throw a party right? Slowly, groups around the world have started to get on board with the idea of World Photography Day and you will find traces of World Photography Day being celebrated over the last 20 years or so. Each year, World Photography Day has gained momentum and this year, we’re hoping to bring photographers together once again with an even larger audience.
Why August 19th?
World Photography Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Louis Daguerre. On January 9, 1839, The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process. A few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World.”
Another photographic processes, the Calotype, was also invented in 1839 by William Fox Talbot (it was announced in 1841). Together, the invention of both the Daguerreotype and Calotype mark 1839 as the year that photography was invented.

The shape of a giant head is highlighted dramatically on the top of these rocks at Porthmeor Beach. The two people silhouetted seem to be standing in awe , almost as if they were in worship.

Another Incredible Nebraska Skyscape. Beautiful July ambient light, against a dying thunderstorm. Nope it's not severe but it's what I do when the light is right. Plus, I was super sick... A few days away from being forced into the hospital. I'm better now, and thankful.. that's a story to come!
I honestly took extra time on these captures. I was using a new filter on my new lens. So no added color or any adjustments to the image in Photoshop on this set. Now I had to bring them through Photoshop from raw... but that's it and of course the pano's are done separately.
Also... I only had one camera...for video that evening. Otherwise you would have seen this first storm cross over and you would have seen some sweet Nebraska thunderstorm views. Just to the east southeast. July Mammatus... these are just as sweet as this video... Just captures though...These have been added to this set.
It seemed the sicker I got, the better the photography I took... It was only about 10 days till I was forced into the hospital. I shouldn't have been out. But you don't get captures like this if you don't go try to catch them...
I was sick but had a blast, and what I caught was just Awesome!

This was not intended to be a still life. It was not consciously set up as such. Come home from shopping, take fruit out of bag, put fruit in the bowl. What doesn't fit, just lay it on the counter. Saw the flowers walking in with the groceries. Narcissists. Pick some, bring them in, find a glass container, stick them in. Simply so, as it adds life to the kitchen.
It starts getting dark, so turn on some light; in this case the desk lamp temporarily sitting on the counter because the electrician is busy, and the overhead lights recessed in the ceiling aren't working at the moment.
And... Oh.
Good old Dr. Wayne may not have been speaking strictly about things physical or visual at that moment, but I'll take it there.
As such, I suppose this beauty everywhere, anywhere, anytime is an experience that many artists (especially visual artists) are fortunate to have as a possibility each day of their lives. See the Beauty. Select it. Acknowledge it. Regardless of circumstances.
Perhaps it is by temperament, perhaps it is by training and practice, either way, it feels as if visual artists have a bit of a leg up in this respect.
Of course, visual artists are not alone in this. Many children have the ability, but it gets drummed out of them by adults, society, our education system.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Picasso
I think the ability to see beauty at any moment remains within us, even if you now feel yourself to be an artistically or creatively stunted adult. I believe it is recoverable - that it never goes away - if you desire to recover it.
And THAT is the issue. YOU must DESIRE to see the beauty. To see with the child's eyes you used to have, with no "ifs, ands, yeah buts" or "what abouts." You have to decide that it is possible for YOU (something so many deny themselves - that possibility for THEMSELVES).
And then, start seeing, start noticing, start selecting.
"YEAH but, what is beauty?" (Classic "yeah but, what about" joy killer question. I hate that.)
Get a group of ten, four year-olds. Take them outside into the yard, or leave them in the house even. Ask them, simply, "find something beautiful or pretty and bring it to me."

Yeah. That's it. Do what they just did. Be four.

With deep respect for the Veterans who have stood between us and a deep abyss.
Currently 100% of our forces are volunteers. They are paid peanuts and their families struggle to make ends meet.
I was surprised to hear on the History Channel this morning that only 20% of the Viet Nam Vets were draftees. I would have thought the inverse from popular lore.
Above are photos of my dad, my two brothers and me. I am the cute baby on the bottom left. My dad with the Lyndon Johnson big ear is on the top left. My older brother is on the top right and I'm pretty sure he is gay - if he is not gay he is missing a good chance. (Just look at the necklace he is wearing.) My younger brother is giving the finger to the world on the bottom right - a trait that he continues to this day.
I thought about the significance of this day when I saw a goofy wall hanging my mom put together many years ago and gave me showing these 4 photos. My Mom and Dad are long gone, but I thought of my Mom carefully cutting photos into circles to place in the frame as a special gift for me. – I removed them to scan for this.
So, my thought is that all of the Vets were once babes in their mom’s arms. They are not statistics to be used by politicians of any stripe. Both sides suck in my opinion.
My dad and both of his brothers served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. One of his brothers died in service. My mother’s only brother served in the Navy in WWII in the Atlantic. My brothers and I also served in the Navy.
My Father-in-Law served in North Africa and Italy.
Two of my wife’s 3 brothers served in the Air Force.
My older brother’s son served in the Army in Iraq during the first (1991?) conflict in a WMD unit.
My younger brother’s son is currently serving in Iraq in the Army as an interpreter. (Prayers for his safety are welcome and requested).
All of us volunteered.
I did diddlysquat in terms of personal sacrifice during my time in service.
Today thousands serve in harms way and deserve our prayers or good wishes.
I salute the brave men and women who serve and have served to keep us free.

No, it's not gratuitous use of the Flood filter, there was plenty of lake in front of this temple; I simply rotated the scene 180 in Photoshop (plus a few other tweaks, of course).

Der Mann mit der Kamera hielt ca. 200-300m durch, bevor er die "Verfolgung" des (führenden) Läufers abbrechen musste. Respekt!
The cameraman followed the winner of the Targo Run over a distance of 200-300 Meters before he aborted the trace. Respect!

I had moved just a few miles to the west of Hwy 183. Just south of the I-80 Elm Creek Interchange. In case this cell did develop a tornado, I wanted quick access to the north.
In the perfect location for this developing cell. Forming wall cloud on the southwest part of this storm. True storm chasing eye candy!

Did you really think you would escape the ugly face of today's politics by retreating to nature? There is nothing wrong with being in nature, just do not look the other way. Respect yourself!
Hand-held, edited in Fuji's raw converter and refined in Luminar.
Eamon picks up the crows, one by one, his touch gentle to the last. He places them side by side in the impromptu grave he's made. He murmurs St. Francis' prayer. "Heavenly Father, ye created the world to serve our needs and to lead us to ye. By our own fault we have lost the beautiful relationship which we once had with all your creation... Help us to see that by restoring our relationship with ye, we will also restore it with all your creation. Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from ye, and to treat them with respect... " His jaw clenches. "For they are Your creation." He puts the last in the grave, then unbuttons his coat and pulls out a clean handkerchief. Unfolded, it's just large enough to cover all six birds in a sort of shroud.

While a far cry from the "OG" P&W scheme, this is far superior to the G&W corporate scheme. The trio of brown and orange locomotives power GRWO south past Moosehorn Pond on a chilly December 2, 2024. My two kids quite enjoyed watching from the far side of the pond as the train wasn't too close for their liking and they could watch and listen to the entire thing go by without any danger of the crew "blowing da horn!"

Midstream Kyauktan Pagoda is located on an isolated island in the river near a fishing village called Ding Yin, about 18 kilometers south of Yangon City. This pagoda built in the temple in the river is unique compared to its Myanmar pagoda.
Dedicated to Dr. Perry S. Ong, a well-loved Academician and respected icon in the Philippine scientific world and environmental movement, who passed away yesterday.
