This image has been MONTHS in the making. When I first found this figurine on Amazon, I knew exactly what I would do with it haha. It got lost in the mail for a month until I got my hands on it finally last week haha.

I took this on Moraine Lake Road this morning. It was cloudy, rainy and cold. All of these images I now have of Highway Patrol Cartman made my drive out there worth while! Oh how I love South Park haha.

Grand Canyon National Park

South Rim

Arizona, USA

I'm always amazed at how the Grand Canyon can look so different with the season, time of day and cloud cover.

The Grand Canyon was formed over 5 to 6 million of years by the erosion caused by the Colorado River. Many visitors are surprised with the cool rim temperatures, but with the South Rim at an elevation ranging to over 7,000 feet, winter snow averages about 60 inches a year. The North Rim elevation is about 1,000 feet higher and receives an average of 144 inches of snow a year and is closed from mid-autumn to mid-spring.

The photo was taken during the afternoon with the warmer light of a late autumn day. I am often amazed at just how much the light difference from season of the year, time of day and the clouds influence the colors viewed from any location within the park.

The canyon is more than 200 miles long 12 miles wide and a mile deep. The national park is visited by about 6 million people a year. On a clear day, like this one, it is possible to see for 100 miles and the distance across to the North Rim seems to shrink.

There are always visitors at the South Rim of the park, but during the winter season, it is possible to find overlooks with few or no other visitors. One can find a sense of serenity when viewing a scene like this especially when viewing it alone.

On a sad note, while millions of visitors respect the beauty of the work of Mother Nature, on this trip, we saw that a few felt compelled to use markers on some of the safety walls and leave behind messages, initials, etc.

We are at a mind-boggling 13,000 feet. Six miles from the Bolivian border and in the heart of El Alto Loa, FCAB train crests the summit at Ascotan and begins its arduous decent towards Calama. 210 is one of 2 scheduled trains from the Bolivian interchange at Ollagüe and handles lead, silver, and zinc concentrate bound for Mejillones, Chile. The leader is FCAB #2501, an ex-Tren a las Nubes (Argentina) GT22CU tunnel motor built on a GP40 frame, and the only one of its kind on the roster.

The towering Volcán Cerro Tomasamil can be behind 2501, peaking at a ridiculous 19,324 feet and El Volcán Cañapa can be seen to its right at matching 19,357ft, both mountains standing on the Bolivian side of the border. The Ascotan Salt flat dominates the sprawling valley beneath. The Andes peak at over 21,000 feet in this region and are among some of the tallest mountains on Earth

The sprint up the hill to capture this photo was a dangerous endeavor at 2 ½ miles above sea level. We endured through an array of elevation sickness symptoms as we pushed ourselves to the physical limit in pursuit of this divine train. Traveling 5,500 miles and battling some of the most insane topography on planet earth truly gives a respect for the dedication that this hobby we call ‘railfanning’ requires

Teddy’s Adventures

Episode LI

Hi Folks,

Hurray, today is my Birthday again. Isn’t it wonderful that Teddy Bears celebrate their Birthday every year? Mine is always at the end of September. SHE sent me some flowers from her garden in Germany plus a huge bucket of Birthday Honey together with the sweetest honeycombs. Best is, this time I do not have to share it with the family. This lovely birthday card came from my mum who has not forgotten me (how could I be forgotten ?). This afternoon we’ll celebrate a Teddy Bear Birthday Party (TBBP) with the family and all my friends. Let’s hope that nobody will forget a little present for me, and that the sun will be shining and we can have our party outside in our Wild Garden. SHE phoned me this early morning and mentioned this terrible ‘hibernation’ again which willl be due very soon. That’s why we’ve planned a little tour this afternoon with this wonderful Bear Rover. When SHE’ll be back, I was promised a movie session on the sofa, cuddling with HER and enjoying lots of honey. That will be like Birthday, Christmas and Easter on one day. However, and especially on my Birthday, I am missing HER desperately. Hope she comes back soon and before we have to start our hibernation

Bear Hugs all around

Christiania's story began with squatters occupying an unused military area in Copenhagen. What started as a protest evolved into a self-governing community with its own unwritten laws. The striking artwork seen here isn’t just decoration; it’s a constant expression of the freetown’s spirit and evolving identity. While often controversial, Christiania remains a powerful symbol of alternative living and social experimentation in Denmark.

The Royse City Lodge #663 A.F. & A.M. (constructed circa 1925) is the most substantial and intact property in the central business district of Royse City. Designed by W.A. Kimzey, believed to be from Greenville, Texas, and constructed by J.E. Harris of Royse City, the Lodge is a handsome 2-story building that borrows architectural elements from the Mission Revival style. The property is one of the few architect designed buildings in the community and is recognized locally as a significant architectural element in the context of Royse City. The property initially served only fraternal activities of the local Masonic Lodge, but in 1936 officials of Royse City leased the first floor for the first city hall and fire & police station. Royse City purchased the first floor in 1941 and continues to use the building for those purposes.

The history of the Lodge and the City are intertwined since the very early days. At least three mayors, Newt Burton (1938-1944), Roy Cookston (1944-1950), and R.M. James (1954-1957) were members of the Lodge. Many of the towns Aldermen also have been Lodge members. The Lodge building also has a long and respected history in Royse City, Texas. Every citizen of Royse City has utilized the building for some purpose, either fraternal or political. Many of the other buildings were destroyed in a devastating fire in the 1930's and this building, in its dual role, has continued to serve the needs of every citizen of Royse City for a century. No other building has greater significance to the community or has been occupied by the original owners since its construction.

On October 28, 1994, the Royse City Masonic Lodge was recognized as eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) under criterion C for its architecture and criterion A for its social history & continued use by residents for government & political purposes at a local level. All of the information above was found on the original documents that can be viewed here:

No, it's not gratuitous use of the Flood filter, there was plenty of lake in front of this temple; I simply rotated the scene 180 in Photoshop (plus a few other tweaks, of course).

Apologies, my ISP problems have resurfaced, hence no post and no visits to your images yesterday / today (I'm briefly in the office to post this).

Bird photography is my passion. I take pictures of birds in cloudy days because on sunny days the light is harsh. If I take pictures at sunset, the camera ISO will be very high, and the pictures get noisy. I respect people images, and everyone has his own style. I take less pictures and not post more than a picture in a day. Have a great day!

Have we completely lost our way? All I see and read is hate, confrontation, war, violence, and total misunderstanding!

Don't we teach our children and grandchildren about love, caring, respect, responsibility, understanding, having the ability to reach mutual, peaceful, and reasonable solutions for everyone? It is time to stop the hate, selfishness, greed, and glee in promoting discord. And the political blame game is making things worse! It is time for the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of government to work together to make this country better, a place for us all to be proud of. Stop the bickering, and avoiding your responsibilities, and start the real work of looking for positive solutions for all.

Love is the only way for us to live and survive!!! And when we all realize this we will be in a much better place. At the rate we are going, we won't be here much longer!

Wake up everyone, we all belong to the human family and we should all be looking out for ALL of us and teaching our children and grandchildren to do so as well.

I am sorry my Flickr friends but I find it incredible that it is almost impossible to read or listen about positive happenings and even if one might believe they are not happening, they are we just have to focus on the positive.

I sincerely hope and pray for change for the better and SOON!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️❤️

En la previa de la segunda fumata, una gaviota se posó sobre la chimenea de la Capilla Sixtina;

July 29, 2012 - Kearney Nebraska US

2012 was a dry summer and the storm season was few & far between. Last recorded rainfall for us was back in early June. Working constantly I had that Sunday evening off and was able to get out to get a few snaps of this oncoming storm.

Finally received some much needed moisture. Strong thunderstorms had formed out in western Nebraska & were dying as they were entering southwest Buffalo county here in South Central Nebraska.

No warnings on this storm but she was producing some exceptional views of the core. Incredible cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning strikes pummeled the earth . This storm cell was proceeding to the northeast from the southwest. It crested right on the northern outskirts of the city. Couldn't have asked for better light & storm. Many photographic gems in this set!
