We just simply want to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and hold the hands of those who hurt. It is just a small organization of families and friends who are trying to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in the Philippines... without politics, religion, race, national origin, economic status, sex, color, age.
We are just a group of family and friends who share the same mission and passion in trying to make a difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor children in the Philippines.

I had a great Saturday! I and my friend volunteered in Project PEARLS. We had so much fun and we are very thankful that we were able to help these kids at Ulingan. Such an amazing experience!

This is a photograph from the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon 2016 which was held in Dublin Ireland on Sunday 30th of October 2016 at 09:00. This year the organisers decided to move the marathon from its traditional Bank Holiday Monday slot to Sunday. This proved to be an incredible success with the largest field ever for the marathon in Dublin. The weather was absolutely perfect with ideal running conditions for the marathon.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eighty nine metres at 12:42pm on Friday 23rd February 2024 off Cheapside and St Paul's Churchyard, beneath the gilded Paul's Cross Memorial Statue in the grounds of St Paul's Cathedral.
The Cathedral was designed by architects Sir Christopher Wren and Lorenzo Gafa, with construction commencing in 1675 and the official opening in 1708. It stands One hundred and eleven metres tall and is a Church of England cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and Mother Church of the Diocese of London, It sits at the top of Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London and was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962
The first mention of a Christian building on this site was in 604, when a monastery was built here and dedicated to St. Paul. The current building was built after the Great Fire of London in 1666 destroyed the old cathedral
Paul’s Cross was an open-air pulpit that from the earliest times was traditionally seen as the place for the discussion of public news and orders. In 1259, it was here that King Henry III called for a general assembly to be made where certain Londoners were gathered at the Cross to swear their allegiance to Henry

Theme: "Land of Hope, Food for Life"
The Concept
China’s theme captures an attitude of thankfulness, respect and cooperation that characterizes its people: the land has fed man from its beginnings and hope suggests the prospect of a future where food can offer life to everyone.
Agriculture, food, environment, sustainable development are the focal points of China's participation in Expo Milano 2015. Its aim is to recall the tenet of Chinese philosophy that "man is part of nature," and to illustrate its cultural traditions and progress in the areas of agriculture, showcasing the great strides made in the use of resources for providing a sufficient supply of good and healthy food.
The underlying theme is the pursuit of balance between mankind and the environment, between humanity and nature. Just as the farmer looks after and protects the earth, so must people care for the planet.
The exhibition area of 4,590 square meters unfolds around three themes. "The Gift of Nature" illustrates crop processes according to the Chinese lunisolar calendar and the five colors of the soil. "Food for Life" shows the production path of foods including tofu and other dishes, China’s famous eight schools of cuisine, and its tea culture. "Technology and the Future" charts the progress of science, including the hybrid rice of Professor Yuan Longping, recycling in agriculture and techniques for tracking the Internet of things.
This is the first time that China participates in a Universal Exposition with a self-built pavilion, symbolizing its commitment as a vast nation and the second largest economy in the world. For the first time, China is committed to illustrate and explain details of its agricultural policy, ranging from its history to the innovations of the future. Individual cities and provinces will also be present with rich and colorful events. And, for the first time ever, there will also be Chinese companies in their own self-built pavilions.

Concept
Il tema scelto dalla Cina incarna l’atteggiamento di gratitudine, di rispetto e di cooperazione del popolo: la terra nutre l’uomo dalle origini, la speranza è la prospettiva di un futuro in cui il cibo consenta la vita di tutti.
Agricoltura, alimentazione, ambiente, sviluppo sostenibile sono i punti focali della partecipazione della Cina a Expo Milano 2015. Lo scopo è ricordare la convinzione della filosofia cinese che “l’uomo è parte integrante della natura”, illustrare le tradizioni culturali e i progressi nei campi dell’agricoltura, presentare i grandi passi compiuti nell’uso razionale delle risorse per assicurare cibo a sufficienza, buono e salutare. Il filo conduttore è la ricerca di equilibrio tra gli esseri umani e l’ambiente, tra l’umanità e la natura.
Come il contadino cura e protegge la sua terra, così il popolo deve custodire il Pianeta. Sono tre i temi intorno a cui si dipana l’esposizione, su un’area di 4.590 metri quadri. “Il dono della natura” illustra il processo del raccolto secondo il calendario cinese lunisolare e i cinque colori del suolo. “Cibo per la vita” mostra il percorso produttivo del cibo, del tofu e di altri piatti, le Otto famose scuole di cucina cinese, la cultura del tè. “Tecnologia e futuro” documenta i progressi scientifici, tra cui il riso ibrido del professor Yuan Longping, il riciclo in agricoltura, le tecniche per la tracciabilità, l’Internet delle cose. È la prima volta che la Cina partecipa a un’Esposizione Universale con un Padiglione self-built, simbolo dell’impegno di un grande Paese, la seconda economia mondiale. Per la prima volta il Paese si impegna a mostrare e spiegare nei dettagli la sua politica agricola, dalla storia alle innovazioni del futuro. Anche province e singole città saranno presenti con ricche e colorate attività. E, sempre per la prima volta, vi sono anche imprese cinesi in propri Padiglioni self-built.

As we all know, there's always ups and downs in this journey, and even though the result may not have been perfect - we made sure it was as close to perfect as we could make it. Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police are working together to bring Respect to the Abraham Moss Campus in Crumpsall.
A week of intensive activity will start a year-long campaign to encourage students to give respect and get respect.
Throughout this week (September 7-10) police officers and security staff have been carrying out joint patrols. They have also been engaging with students and talking to them about acceptable behaviour. There has been a crack down on under-age smoking and the drugs dog has been on campus.
There was also a young peoples’ information day with help and advice from police officers, crime prevention officers, health workers and careers advisors.
Manchester City Council’s community safety co-ordinator and the school liaison police officer will be leading school assemblies over the next few weeks to explain how the police and council are working together to improve the learning environment for young people.
Manchester City Council deputy leader, Councillor Jim Battle said: “ We want to talk to young people and find out what their concerns are and advise them on how to report crime and anti social behaviour. We also want to work with them on acceptable standards of behaviour.”
Inspector Dean Stott from GMP said: "It is important for younger members of the community to get the opportunity to know their Neighbourhood Police Officers so they can share any worries or concerns. An officer will be attending assemblies to talk about crime prevention, safety and the work we are doing in the area to tackle drugs-related crime and anti-social behaviour."

Dear Defenders of Ukraine!
Respect. Gratitude. Honor. This is what our people feel when it comes to you. When our people hear about you, see you, see how you destroy the enemy, his missiles, his drones, his bases, his arrogance. See how you defend Ukraine.
Respect. Gratitude. Honor. And goosebumps. When we say "Glory to Ukraine" and respond "Glory to the Heroes." For we know who we are talking about. We know who our heroes are – true, brave, and worthy. Those about whom we speak our best words. Those who celebrate their day on December 6th. For this is your day – the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Day of the Ukrainian Warrior.
How much power lies in these two words: “Ukrainian warrior.” How much courage, emotion, and gratitude they carry. Gratitude to you, Ukrainian warrior! How much genuineness is in you. Not loud words, but humanity. Truth. Sincerity of those who stood up to defend Ukraine – both ten years ago and on February 24th. Those who were born warriors, and those who became them. Very different people. Ukrainian men and women, of different ages, different professions, from different regions. Everyone who lived their lives but turned them 180 degrees. Who had a different profession but refused to live under a foreign flag. Some said, "I can't do otherwise." Others said, "If not me, then who?" And some said nothing at all. They simply looked at their children, hugged them tightly, kissed them, walked out the door, and stood up to defend their country.
And at that moment, we had no HIMARS, no Patriots, no F-16s, and so much else was missing. But we had you. Ukrainian warriors. Those who chose Ukraine. Chose to defend what is theirs. What is native. Their hometown, village, street, home, their family. And you have been doing this for 1,000 days. Taking up arms, taking the fate of our country into your hands. Holding it firmly and steadfastly for more than 1,000 days. When it is hard, when it is extremely hot and unbearably cold, day and night, you hold the front, you hold the line of freedom, you hold on yourselves, and because of you, everyone holds on, Ukraine holds on. Thanks to you, Ukrainian warrior!
And all these days are reflected in your eyes today. In the eyes of a Ukrainian warrior, you can read and see everything. Eyes that have witnessed war, death, evil, that have been eaten away by smoke, but in which life does not fade. In which the fire still burns, keeping alive the flame of hope for the entire nation. You do everything to ensure that in the eyes of our children, there is no despair, no fear, no hopelessness.
And every day we shed tears of pride for you – for our warriors. Every day – tears of pain, when we lose one of you. Someone dear, close, an acquaintance or even someone we don't know, but definitely – for all people – never a stranger. Family. To all of Ukraine.
When each of us hears the words “Ukrainian warrior,” we think of someone we know. A real person comes to mind for everyone. Everyone has a real example. A real hero. Our warrior. A father, husband, brother, grandfather, mother, sister, daughter. A friend, neighbor, mate, coworker, or simply an acquaintance. Someone we know. Someone we are proud of and admire. Someone we write to, asking "How are you?" and feel relieved when the message is read. Someone we strive to help, in any way we can – by completing a fundraiser or simply sending a drawing, as our children do. And someone who, sadly, is no longer with us, yet whose number we cannot bring ourselves to delete from our phone. Because their name cannot be erased from our memory.
Over 1,000 days of battle for the state. Over 700,000 enemy losses. For us, they are nameless, dishonorable; for us and for history, they deserve nothing but shame and contempt.
Yet all of us cry out in our souls during moments of silence for our fallen. And when our people kneel, bidding farewell to one of their heroes on their final journey, God sees it from heaven. And He takes our side.
God sees how many blue and yellow flags are on graves today. How many heroes have ascended to heaven, carried on a shield, while defending earthly human things. Their home, their mother, their child – and with them, their Ukraine. Which is above all. And the memory of you is above all. Because each of you is a hero. Each of you is a great person. In our history, there are two dates that stand side by side on the calendar and are connected to one another. December 5th and December 6th. Two dates with different flavors. Two distinct lessons learned by the Ukrainian people during this time.
Yesterday marked 30 years since the signing of the Budapest Memorandum. Today, we understand with absolute certainty that the true, foremost, most effective, most reliable guarantor of our security is the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Photograph taken at 10:11am on Wednesday 16th July 2025 at an altitude of Fifty two in the Grounds of Warnham Nature Reserve in Horsham, West Sussex. The Millpond dates back to the 16th Century and parts of the woodland dates back even further to the 13th Century. A beautiful location for a walk, or to sit amongst nature and so see birds and butterflies in their natural habitat.
Here we see a Red admiral (Vanessa atalanta) butterfly perched on a magnificent Butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii). The bush is also known as the Summer Lilac, Orange-eye butterfly bush or orange-eye.

Frank McGee was a well respected reporter for NBC News. He covered some of the biggest stories for the Network in the 1960's and early 70's, including the Assassinations of President Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert Kennedy along with reporting on the space program. He was a long time floor reporter for NBC at the Republican and Democrat National Conventions. Later in his career he replaced Hugh Downs as the Host of the Today Show. He died on April 17, 1974 from the complications of cancer. He is buried along side his wife in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Woodville, Virginia.
A Ponte Luís I ou Luiz I, é uma ponte em estrutura metálica com dois tabuleiros, construída entre os anos 1881 e 1888, ligando as cidades do Porto e Vila Nova de Gaia (margem norte e sul, respectivamente) separadas pelo rio Douro, em Portugal.
Esta construção veio substituir a antiga ponte pênsil que existia no mesmo local e foi realizada mediante o projecto do engenheiro belga Théophile Seyrig, que já tinha colaborado anteriormente com Gustave Eiffel na construção da ponte Maria Pia, ferroviária.
A ponte foi inaugurada em 1886 (tabuleiro superior) e 1888 (tabuleiro inferior e entrada em total funcionamento).
O nome e a lenda
A afirmação de que devido à ausência do rei D. Luís I na inauguração, decidiu a população do Porto, em resposta ao acto desrespeitoso, retirar o "Dom" do respectivo nome parecem não corresponder à realidade, sendo assim uma lenda.
A atestar tal facto, refira-se que nas notícias nos jornais durante o período da sua construção a ponte era designada por "Ponte Luiz I"; também outras importantes construções da mesma época com os nomes de membros da família real não tinham os títulos nos seus nomes, caso da ponte ferroviária Maria Pia (e não Dona Maria Pia), dedicada à rainha, e do velódromo Maria Amélia (e não Dona Amélia), dedicado à futura rainha consorte do rei D. Carlos; acrescente-se ainda que apesar de o nome oficial da ponte ser "Luiz I", conforme atestam as incrições nas placas dos pegões-encontro sobre as entradas do tabuleiro inferior, a população do Porto sempre a chamou de "Ponte D. Luís", salvaguardando o título do rei com quem a cidade tinha grande proximidade.
História
Na segunda metade do século XIX, o comércio progredia na cidade do Porto. As fábricas espalhavam-se por todo o bairro oriental da cidade, dito brasileiro. O tráfego para Gaia e Lisboa crescia a olhos vistos, e a bela Ponte Pênsil não chegava para uma circulação eficaz.
Por proposta de lei de 11 de Fevereiro de 1879, o Governo determinou a abertura de concurso para a "construção de uma ponte metálica sobre o rio Douro, no local que se julgar mais conveniente em frente da cidade do Porto, para a substituição da actual ponte pênsil", após o governo não ter aceite um projecto da firma G. Eiffel et Cie. que só contemplava um tabuleiro ao nível da ribeira, com sector levadiço na parte central. Um projecto que mereceu um Grande Prémio na Exposição Universal de Paris de 1878, mas não servia para uma eficaz ligação entre os núcleos urbanos do Porto e Gaia. Por isso aquele concurso impôs como premissa necessária à concepção de uma ponte de dois tabuleiros. Apresentaram-se numerosos concorrentes: Société de Braine Leconte,Société des Batignolles (duas soluções), G. Eiffel et Cie., Auguste LeCoq. Andrew Handyside, Société de Willebroek(duas soluções) e John Wixon. Foi vencedora a proposta da empresa belga Société de Willebroeck, com projecto do engenheiro Teófilo Seyrig, que já tinha sido o autor da concepção e chefe da equipa de projecto da Ponte D. Maria Pia. Teófilo Seyrig, enquanto sócio de Gustave Eiffel, assina como único responsável a nova e grandiosa Ponte Luís I. A construção inicia-se em 1881 e a inauguração acontece a 31 de Outubro de 1886.
A estrutura da nova ponte, verdadeira filigrana de ferro, que passou a ser, juntamente com a Torre dos Clérigos, o ex libris por excelência do Porto, pesava no seu conjunto 3.045 toneladas. A ponte ficou iluminada por meio de artísticos candeeiros de gás, 24 no tabuleiro superior, 8 no inferior e 8 nos encontros.

Desde 2005 o seu tabuleiro superior serve a Linha D do Metro do Porto e no tabuleiro inferior peões e veículos automóveis.
Em 2012, uma inspeção das Estradas de Portugal concluiu que a ponte precisava de obras de manutenção e reabilitação, nomeadamente ao nível do pavimento, juntas de dilatação, e pintura de vigas e guarda-corpos. Durante o mês de agosto de 2013 deu-se uma «manutenção regular no tabuleiro superior», tendo estado a Linha Amarela do Metro do Porto encerrada entre as estações General Torres e Trindade a partir das 21:30.
Em 2015 foi anunciado que vão ser construídos dois passeios de dois metros do lado de fora do tabuleiro inferior.
Os transeuntes cruzarão o rio Douro pelo passadiço mais próximo das ribeiras, enquanto as bicicletas cumprirão o percurso pela travessia a montante. A construção dos passadiços suspensos custará cerca de 600 mil euros e necessita da autorização da Direção Regional da Cultura do Norte.

A tugboat will initially tow the Iowa to a temporary mooring, then lead it down the harbor's main channel to its permanent berth June 9. On July 7, the gangplanks will be opened to the public.
Respect League is a not-for-profit group of junior football clubs that have come together to give children the best possible start in football. The League is leading the way in fully implementing The FA's vision for children's football and there whole approach is more child-centered and age-appropriate than traditional Leagues.
They give children the ideal environment to accelerate their learning. The FA have awarded them Charter Standard status and they've won the coveted Bronze Award as the best League in the whole county !
The referees are trained to 'manage' the game rather than just blow a whistle. This means they're talking to the players throughout, encouraging them, advising and helping them to avoid foul play. It's calm, safe and fun. Oh, and the football is fantastic!

joseph helped take care of my father during the worst time after his prostate surgery... the first 5 days after the surgery, dad was hallucinating... he only slept about 15 mins for those 5 days... he was constantly trying to jump out of bed or pull his tubes out... joseph was our rock... the man from lagos was calm... he took care of my dad, ann, and myself... he is a man of god... completed his seminary training... he has my respect.
