The “It Takes A Village'' Community Resource Fair focuses on bringing the community together in a fun environment to learn about services available on the south side of Madison. This event was held at Penn Park, 12-5PM on Thursday, June 30 with free food, free COVID-19 vaccines, music and lots of activities for kids and families! Attendees met their neighbors, engaged with public servants, and had some fun in their neighborhood park.

The goal is to provide information for local families about community services available in their neighborhood, as well as connecting youth and the wider community with public servants in a low-stress, pressure-less environment. Kids can interact with Madison Police officers who will be bringing squad cars and the mounted horse unit. Bubbler artists will be at the event to offer creative activities for youth and adults throughout. Madison Reading Project will give away free books (while supplied last) and you can also visit the Dream Bus. Following the event, stay for a Madison Parks Sina Davis Movie in the Park - a showing of Jungle Cruise begins at 5 p.m. in Penn Park. Come connect with your community!

Parks Alive is a collaborative effort across multiple City departments and involves many community-based stakeholders and mobile resources. Parks Alive is a great opportunity for residents to come out to local parks, build community, strengthen relationships, and have fun!

Dorena Genetic Resource Center (DGRC) is the USDA Forest Service's regional service center for genetics in the Pacific Northwest Region. Dorena houses disease resistance breeding programs for five-needled pines and Port-Orford-cedar, a native plant development program, and the National Tree Climbing Program. Typography 2 l I designed this book for my Type class. The narrative is an essay by Ellen Lupton and her husband. Everything else about the book is my own design, including the photography. I printed, cut, folded and bound the book myself using 60# paper (100# for the cover) and double-sided tape.

The World Café on "Mobilizing Our Future".
On the 14th November in the Montbrillant Building of ITU, this World Café provided a cross-section of ITU staff with the opportunity to contribute to some of the key strategic challenges faced by the ITU
The objective of the event was to pull together the ideas and input from staff on how we can better attract and engage Sector Members as well as develop new approaches for resource mobilization. 356 ideas were collected - the most abundant harvest so far from any ITU World Café.

An in-depth study of the Northern Aquifer, a vitally important source of fresh water in Mauritius, is expected to provide comprehensive information about the groundwater resource and the twin risks of contamination and salt water intrusion. Improved understanding, by both engineers and local communities, will help the people of Mauritius to adopt integrated approaches to water management, with the goal of protecting precious groundwater resources and ensuring sustainable water supply.

This corner lot on Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard at Shaver St. is on track to become a soul food cart court and an education center where youth can learn about Black History.
The site is the former home of The Burger Barn, which hit the headlines in 1981 when two Portland police officers tossed four dead possums into its doorway, sparking outrage and protests in the Black community. And the possum incident is not the site’s only claim to historical importance…
Owner Andre Raiford said he is happy for the site to become a resource for the community.
The building is set to be renovated and renamed the Common Unity Resource Building. Stocked with archive materials and examples of historic preservation the building will expose students to careers in historic preservation, construction and the STEM disciplines, says Teressa Raiford.
Along with Cathy Galbraith, executive director of the Bosco-Milligan Foundation, Teressa has been working to find grants and other funding for the project. She says she plans to crowdfund some of the money needed through a Kickstarter page. Livermore architects have volunteered to work on the design, which will include shrubs and greenery to shield the eating and meeting area from busy Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
