Obviously this picture isn't anything special but I have been wanting to publicly state some of my goals for 2010. I don't make resolutions because resolutions never work out. Goals, on the other hand, you can work toward. If you don't quite meet a goal, you've still made progress. If you don't "keep" a resolution, you've failed.
I meant to come up with 100 Goals but so far I've just broken 50:
Listen to Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz simultaneously.
Weigh 140 pounds or less.
Photograph Amish country
Donate blood
Do karaoke
Take tango lessons with George
Swim in the Atlantic Ocean
Walk at least 10 minutes each day, 30 minutes on weekend
Photograph Glen Echo Park
Take one photo every day in 2010
Learn how to really play poker, maybe with George
Learn to draw
Spend $20 at the farmer's market every week May-October
Throw a house party
Host a dinner party
Buy a tablecloth - a nice one - from a thrift store
Decopage something with all those stupid magazines
Visit a photography exhibition
Send thank-you notes when people do something I appreciate.
Go to a screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Buy a laptop
Floss at least 3 times a week
Post at least once a week in Digital Photography School
Plan an international trip - fly with miles
Complete one DIY photography project
End the year with a net worth of >-5k
Build a jewelry organizer thing from a frame
Grow something I can eat
Make button paper clips
Check out the Jefferson photography studio
Make home inventory
Take pictures in a photobooth
Get paid for a specific photograph
Organize my "area" w/ inbox/outbox, idea area

Thanks all for the comments yesterday. I think I like what Richie said about doing 365 photos but not necessarily in 365 days. I understand the value of getting out every day and shooting and how it can push you to grow, but I'm not going to kill myself right now, and I feel like the work I'd create is below what I what to be producing. I don't want to take pictures and post them just to get views etc. If I take my time and produce images I want to produce, then we'll all be happier I think :)
I'll still do my best to come up with one nearly every day, but I've got things to do. I have to come up with a portfolio for my new job too, which will be awesome!

Death Valley's Playa Racetrack is a most magical place! Wikipedia reports: "The Racetrack Playa, or The Racetrack, is a scenic dry lake feature with "sailing stones" that inscribe linear "racetrack" imprints. It is located above the northwestern side of Death Valley, in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, U.S. The Racetrack Playa is 3,714 feet (1,132 m) above sea level, and 2.8 mi (4.5 km) long (north-south) by 1.3 mi (2.1 km) wide (east-west). The playa is exceptionally flat and level with the northern end being only 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) higher than the southern. This occurrence is due to major influx of fine-grained sediment that accumulates at the north end. The highest point surrounding the Racetrack is the 5,678-foot (1,731 m) high Ubehebe Peak, rising 1,964 feet (599 m) above the lakebed 0.85 miles (1.37 km) to the west."

Test shot with the Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6. The advantage of this lens is that it's lighter and 0.5-1.0 stop faster than the Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3. It is also twice as expensive, But it is far more portable. The image quality from both lenses are about the same, with careful technique.
Above: slightly cropped version of the image below, which had an branch in the foreground that could not be avoided. I don't like out of focus elements in the foreground in general. The distance to the bird was about 15 feet (5 m).
Not the best possible lighting, but given the position and orientation of the bird and available spots to stand at the edge of the water, this was about the best view.

The sitter is probably Fortunato Martinengo Cesaresco, a scholarly nobleman of Brescia. The painting may date from 1542 when he married. Rare ancient coins and the bronze foot suggest the interests of a scholarly collector and were also fit subjects for melancholy reflection. 'Alas, I desire too much' is written in Greek upon his cap badge.

This is one of my favourite composition/combination I have ever taken in the backyard of my parents' house.
High Res Malibu Landscape Seascape Sunset Colorful Clouds! Dr. Elliot McGucken HDR Malibu California Fine Art Landscape & Nature Photography! Malibu's Epic PAcific Ocean Seascapes! Enlarged to Nikon D850 resolutions: 8288 x 5520 pixels. High Resolution!
I'm experimenting with upsizing some Nikon D800, D800E, & D810 HDR photographs to the 8288 x 5520 or 8256 x 5504 resolution of the Nikon D850! The Pixel dimensions of the Nikon D810 are 7360 × 4912 pixels. The D810's pixel width of 7360 pixels is about 90% of the D850's pixel width of 8256 pixels. Thus, at 90%, it would be hard to tell the difference between photos taken with the two Nikons, except in the very largest prints perhaps! The D810 has 36.3 megapixels or 36 megapixels, while the D850 has 45.7 megapixels, or 46 megapixels.

This really took some thinking. Last year my main resolution was to stick with an exercise program, which I have. I'm proud about that. In fact, it has become something I really enjoy and I plan to continue forever!
This year I decided to examine how I interact with others. There is always room for improvement, I'm sure.

Sorry it's so grainy, but it was a dark shot, with a low resolution, so I boosted the contrast a bit to highlight Arnold's fabulous mustache. Arnold Schwarzenegger as hired muscle, and Jo Ann Brody as Jo Ann Eggenweiler, Marty Augustine's much maligned lady friend. Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye, 1973.

I have many resolutions this year, but most of all I want to adjust my life to spend more time with my babies (ages 7, 3 and 15 months).
I, as many of us, lead a busy life...trying to balance a career as an architect and being a good wife and mother. I have grown by leaps and bounds over the past couple years...but I still am trying to find balance. So, this year I continue my journey of finding balance.
Photography is my passion and after just completing the 365project.org (365project.org/cohare/365) ....I hope to grow even more this year in my abilities as a photographer. I feel completely out of my league in this forum...but it will push me to be better. Thank you in advance.
