Reseda, CA - One of my favorite tools; not only is it used frequently, there is something satisfying creating that finishing edge.

It's all about the experience: hearing the roar of the motor, slowly pushing the wood through the rotating blade, watching the trim line as pieces of sawdust and pulp fly threw the air and land on shirt sleeves, gloves and goggles. As the motor kicks off, it slowly growls and hums to a stop, the smell of sawdust and oiled wood fills the air. An aroma only an old garage can create. I'll bring the piece of wood to eye level, gently brush the debris from the edge and place it to the side only to repeat the process once again.

Sometimes on the way home from work I'll think of an idea to craft something out of wood, then as soon as I get home walk into the garage and build it. It is not always pretty or useful however when it comes to time spent it's better than the internet.

Reseda, CA - There is a HO scale slot car track in my garage. Over time it has morphed into different variations and scenes. Currently, there is a military diorama that coexists throughout the track. More specifically a World War II-era diorama complete with Germans, Russians, and Americans facing each other across a vast desert plane.

The story goes the German’s are protecting their prized brewery (seen in the background) from the Allied invaders. What started as a simple idea to have a slot car track has turned into an epic story telling entity that lives in my garage.

Interesting mural on a Reseda strip mall building.

Not sure what it means. Can anyone explain?

RESEDA - A wind-driven tree fire spread through several blocks burning structures and vegetation.

On Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:53 AM, LAFD responded to a structure fire at the 18000 block of Elkwood St. The fire appeared to have started in ornamental vegetation near Strathern St, then was fueled by wind and pushed several blocks to the south across Blythe, Arminta, Elkwood and Ingomar. A post-fire survey revealed that only two homes sustained minor fire damage, and four out buildings were damaged or destroyed. LAFD Firefighters were on scene just three minutes after being dispatched and acted quickly to prevent this situation from becoming much worse in the warm/windy conditions, with an attack that included water-dropping helicopters. It took 68 firefighters 49 minutes to extinguish all of the flames. There were no injuries. The fire is under investigation.
