Previously unpublished shot of a juxtaposition that caught my attention - captured in January 2018.

The current 'cost of living crisis' is just the tip of the iceberg of coming problems for our society. Ukraine is basically the breadbasket of Europe and together with grain from the invading nation, Russia, we will be seeing massive shortages of staple crops and increasing food prices for all. Millions will be choosing between food and shelter or warmth. The top six energy companies in the UK made £1bn in profits last year and yet energy prices are going through the roof - my own energy bill has risen by 124% and I already strictly keep my energy use down for the sake of our planet!

There is enough wealth in this world to end poverty on this scale. When should a humane society consider that food, water, shelter and warmth are basic human necessities that everyone ought to be entitled to? Instead of taxing wealth, however, we take from the ordinary folks and the poorest suffer. I'm not expressing my politics here and you can draw no conclusions from my thoughts on that, but I am expressing my basic humanity. We are one species sharing one tiny planet in the vastness of space. Why do we not care more about our fellow humankind? When do we consider that we actually need to help each other?

Stay safe my Flickr friends.

ENG: You can see the Tram TM 36 (3587) of the Berlin Transport Company (BVG) in front of the Kleinmachnower lock directly at the river Teltow canal and dates back to 1938. This now serves as an information center of the regional heritage association. Part of the lock building can also be seen in the background.

It is part of the Tram (Street Car) line 96, which once connected Behrenstrasse in Berlin Mitte and Tempelhof with Teltow, Stahnsdorf and Kleinmachnow. In 1887, a 5-kilometer streetcar line was built from Groß-Lichterfelde, now called Lichterfelde-Ost, to Teltow. It was initially single-tracked and required a travel time of 30 minutes. Four years later, the line was extended to Stahnsdorf and in 1905 to Machnower Schleuse. The steam vehicles (also known as lame ducks) were not very powerful at the time, so the line was converted to electric operation in 1907. From 1930, it then drove as line 96. But with the construction of the Berlin Wall, the Tram operation was unfortunately discontinued. Since 2012, the car is open to visitors after extensive renovation.

This Royal Tern is a winter bird with white forecrown.

{I had recorded this in my notes from 2010 as a Caspian Tern (Hydroprogne caspia), but with the caveat that the ID required confirmation. A reconsideration suggested to me that it was actually a Royal Tern, and I put this image to the Bird Identification Help Group here on Flickr which verified that.}

This sighting was during a kayak excursion at the Laguna de Potosí south of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero State, Mexico, on February 23rd, 2010.

Curiously looped on the main-line, so requiring a succession of Trans Pennine passenger services to pass on the slower loop line, Freightliner Shed 66604 finally makes its getaway from Marsden some 10 minutes behind schedule with the 11.41am Hunslet Tilcon - Tunstead Sidings (6M22).

It's captured here crossing the Huddersfield Narrow Canal before it plunges into the 4803m long Standedge Tunnel which sees the train enter in Yorkshire and exit in Lancashire, or more latterly, Greater Manchester.

Not to be outdone the canal also passes under the hillside in a tunnel constructed some years earlier (1811) and, at a length of 5189m, was the longest and most expensive canal tunnel ever constructed in the UK. For a small price would be adventurers can take a ride on a narrow boat through the tunnel from the Visitor Centre just below - and enjoy it in all its darkness and claustrophobic glory while being silently thankful that working conditions these days are rather more benign!

"We're only young and naive still

We require certain skills

The mood it changes like the wind

Hard to control when it begins

The bittersweet between my teeth

Trying to find the in-between

Fall back in love eventually

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Can't help myself but count the flaws

Claw my way out through these walls

One temporary escape

Feel it start to permeate

We lie beneath the stars at night

Our hands gripping each other tight

You keep my secrets hope to die

Promises, swear them to the sky

The bittersweet between my teeth

Trying to find the in-between

Fall back in love eventually

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah"

The world beneath our feet holds boundless secrets, and macro photography is the key to unlocking them. This intimate photographic style shrinks the viewer down to the scale of the subject, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Here, a cluster of delicate, golden-capped toadstools emerges from a tapestry of vibrant green moss. The slight frost or dusting on the caps, coupled with the soft, diffused light, highlights the texture and subtle curves of each fungus. The shallow depth of field is essential in macro work, blurring the busy background into a painterly wash of browns and oranges, compelling the eye to focus solely on the fragile life at the center. It's a testament to the fact that the most compelling and detailed subjects often require us to pause, kneel down, and look closely at the miniature landscapes that thrive just out of our everyday focus. Macro photography challenges us to see the world not as it appears from a distance, but as a rich, detailed ecosystem demanding our attention and admiration.

On my bike trip I found several paragliders flying from off of Edgewater park hill. I parked my bike and started shooting. I talked with one of the pilots. I congratulated him on his impressive flying and he told me that the brains of the operation is the Paraglider. He did say he had many years of flying though. I asked him if he flies over the lake and he explained that water is bad, we stay away from it. Very cool guys.

Not really what is required when on the lunge, but its a bit hard when there is no real work area, just a paddock that they relate to as their home.

The stone ruins which were once the impressive buildings of Kanyaka Station. Settled and owned by a young Englishman, Hugh Proby, the enterprise supported 70 families, required to manage the immense sheep and cattle run.

The property is NNE of Quorn in South Australia's Flinders Ranges. The harsh, arid land's traditional owners were the Barnggaria people.

This image was originally a 16mm shot. Sony firmware for this lens crops and corrects for vignette and distortion, and few other tricks.

I experimented with the RAW file, which returns an actual ~14mm image! The SELP 1650 zoom can actually go wider. Thus it's a versatile wide angle in a pinch. As long as one understands this requires some due diligence in post... a very usable wide angle composition can be achieved.

Solidarity, sometimes, is too long a word, but it is always necessary, since love requires it to survive, in this meaningless world, we cannot be blind, injustices are here on earth, because we men populate it. .. Hopefully we are able to change this world, and make it a more generous and less violent place... No war, of any kind, anywhere in the world...

I don't know why you think

I don't know why you think, soldier, that I hate you?

If we are the same thing:

You; I.

You are poor, I am. I'm from below, you are.

Where did you find out, soldier, that I hate you?

It hurts me that sometimes you forget who I am.

Damn, if I am you, the same as you are me.

But not for that I have to support you;

If we are the same thing, you; I.

We'll see you and me, together on the same street

Shoulder to shoulder, you, me; without hatred, neither me nor you.

But knowing you and me, where are we going me and you.

I don't know why you think, soldier, that I hate you?

The Superstition Mountains is one of the photos every Arizona photographer has. Dramatic Mountain front makes for stunning views. This is a nine, six second vertical frame panorama.

Although Singapore may be a small country, there are still yet many lost or abandoned places that have been reclaimed or hidden by nature over the decades, and waiting to be rediscovered.

The hidden Torii Gates of Bukit Batok Hillside Park is one such example, although it does require some effort and care to visit the area due to steep and often muddy terrain, along with insects and ants as well.
