Reuse, Recover, Repurpose, Bottle Cap Bugs and Festive Flowers, Racine Art Museum, Racine, Wisconsin

Inspired by a picture I found on google. Was fun to make, but should have measured -- it's a bit small for my minifee living room..

They're moving from here to another former gas station on the other side of downtown. Will be a shame to see these murals go away.

A couple of weeks ago Ben Molloy and his Central Campus homebuilders class removed bleachers from what used to be the Tech natatorium. But they didn't let all of that lumber and history go to waste. The class used the repurposed planks to build two playhouses that will go up for auction. And there's enough bleacher wood left over to use in a full-scale house that Molloy's 2nd year class is constructing at Easter Lake.

This old Ford has found a new use as a flower bed at the entrance to the Village @ Blue Mountain. The light was pretty harsh by the time I took this shot, so I did some selective processing to lighten shadows and play up on the rusted, worn patina.

I am dealing with boxes of scraps here. My thought was that I should use it up and make some small stuff. Well, I cut out about 30 of these so far, and my box looks the same (except that it is spread over the floor)

Only 900 more to go I guess!

I wasn't completely sold on this sheet at the thrift shop, but I bought it anyway. Now I'm glad I did - I love the way it looks as a wrap skirt! The subtle pattern in perfect for those occasions where I'd prefer not to be too loud ;-) Blogged here.

Our dining room has a very sweet but shallow closet that was a sewing cabinet for the former owner. I have more sewing supplies than could ever fit in this, so we pretty much ignored it until this morning when Mark and I thought of using it to store the jars.

It would be a lot fuller if I stopped giving jars away!
