One of Israel's top snakes - the Blotched snake (Elaphe sauromates).
It lives only at the northern tip of Israel, usually found at an elevation of 1600 meters+.
This individual was 150 cm in length, heavy and healthy, and found basking in the early morning sun of Mt.Hermon.
I love the contrast between their black body and their yellow belly.
What an amazing rare find!
