Brown tree snake. Boiga irregularis

The brown tree snake is an arboreal rear-fanged colubrid snake native to eastern and northern coastal Australia, eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and a large number of islands in northwestern Melanesia.

This snake is infamous for being an invasive species responsible for devastating the majority of the native bird population in Guam.

The brown tree snake is a nocturnal, rear-fanged colubrid, possessing two small, grooved fangs at the rear of the mouth. Due to the placement of the fangs and their grooved rather than hollow architecture, the venom is difficult to convey into a bite on a human. So is only delivered in small doses. The venom appears to be weakly neurotoxic and possibly cytotoxic with localized effects that are trivial for adult humans. Facebook Page: P&M Wildlife and Nature Photography

A sandfish lizard Under the moonlight 🌕

I love how the big bright moon is shining in the background.

What do you think?

Such a great way to end a short trip to my favourite place in the world...

Sandfish (Scincus scincus - חומט רפואי)

Portrait of a beautiful gecko from the Arava Desert in Israel.

Look how it inflates its body and throws its tail in the air in order to look bigger.

Definitely my favorite gecko from Israel.

Monitor Lizard in habitat ️

I've been asked to include more info about this majestic lizard (Varanus griseus - כוח אפור).

The Desert Monitor is active during daytime, usually in warm weather, and at night it sleeps in abandoned holes.

The rest of the time it goes into a winter hibernation of almost 6 months.

It is an active hunter and actively chases its prey with quick movements and sharp teeth.

It used to be common but today it is an endangered species due to loss of habitat. In Israel the biggest population is in the Negev desert.

Sometimes I see them running around but most of the individuals I've seen were trapped inside man-made holes in the desert.

I've been rescued a few in the recent years.

Hope to keep see them in the future 🙏

Tracking wildlife in the sand dunes is so much fun!

Snakes, lizards and various mammals can be tracked with some knowledge and luck.

A monitor lizard, like the one above, is one of the most exciting finds one can find!

This time when its was time to pick the Pawpaws i took the 40mm lens with me. A lot better way to get up close and personal.

Common tree snake / green tree snake. Dendrelaphis punctulatus

(Blue Form)

This common snake is harmless, readily recognised as it is an agile snake with a very slender body and tail. The body colour varies from green to olive-green to black, sometimes even blue, frequently pale yellow on the throat and belly but other pale colours have been noted, blue flecks are present on the flank. Eyes are larger than in most snakes. Found in a variety of habitats ranging from rainforest to woodland to urban areas where it preys on fish, frogs and other small animals. This Green Tree Frog seems to be a regular visitor, he comes out in the evening in the humid tropics, for a feed of the plentiful bugs and insects.

Dendrobates auratus can be found in Central and South America, from Nicaragua and Costa Rica to southeastern Brazil and Bolivia. They were also introduced in Hawaii by humans, and have flourished there.
