In 1979, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC) reports:
"an independent analysis which confirms that asbestos fibers emitted from hair dryers may pose a significant health threat to consumers. This analysis indicates that the majority of the hair dryers tested were found to be emitting asbestos fiber levels comparable to or greater than other serious levels of asbestos in the general environment, such as those found in certain school buildings and near construction sites."
"...the fiber concentrations in the effluent of some dryers exceeded the highest we have measured in eight years of surveillance of environmental asbestos contamination."
Apparently, it's loaded with countless rounds of microscopic asbestos ammunition.

Report on the scientific results of the voyage of H.M.S. Challenger during the years 1873-76 under the command of Captain George S. Nares ....
Edinburgh :Neill,1880-1895..
The Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. It was designed to provide close air support for the Soviet Ground Forces. The first prototype made its maiden flight on 22 February 1975. After testing, the aircraft went into series production in 1978 at Tbilisi in the Soviet Republic of Georgia. Russian air and ground forces nicknamed it "Grach" ("Rook").
Early variants included the Su-25UB two-seat trainer, the Su-25BM for target-towing, and the Su-25K for export customers. Upgraded variants developed by Sukhoi include the Su-25T and the further improved Su-25TM (also known as Su-39). By year 2007, the Su-25 is the only armoured airplane still in production except the Su-34 whose production just started. It is currently in service with Russia and various other CIS states as well as export customers.
During its more than twenty-five years in service, the Su-25 has seen combat with several air forces. It was heavily involved in the Soviet war in Afghanistan, flying counter-insurgency missions against the Mujahideen. The Iraqi Air Force employed Su-25s against Iran during the 1980–89 Iran–Iraq War. Most of them were later destroyed or fled to Iran in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. In 1993, Abkhazian separatists used Su-25s against Georgians during the Abkhazian War. Eight years later, the Macedonian Air Force employed Su-25s against Albanian insurgents in the 2001 Macedonia conflict, and in 2008, Georgia and Russia reportedly used Su-25s in the South Ossetian conflict.
In early 1968, the Soviet Ministry of Defence decided to develop a specialised shturmovik armoured assault aircraft in order to provide close air support for the Soviet Ground Forces. The idea of creating a ground-support aircraft came about after analysing the experience of shturmovaya (attack) aviation during World War II, and in local wars during the 1950s and 1960s.[4] The Soviet fighter-bombers in service or under development at this time (Su-7, Su-17, MiG-21 and MiG-23) did not meet the requirements for close air support of the army.[4] They lacked essential armour plating to protect the pilot and vital equipment from ground fire and missile hits, and their high flight speeds made it difficult for the pilot to maintain visual contact with a target. Having taken into account these problems, Pavel Sukhoi and a group of leading specialists in the Sukhoi Design Bureau started preliminary design work in a comparatively short period of time, with the assistance of leading institutes of the Ministry of the Aviation Industry and the Ministry of Defence
In March 1969, a competition was announced by the Soviet Air Force that called for designs for a new battlefield close-support aircraft. Participants in the competition were the Sukhoi Design Bureau and the Design Bureaus of Yakovlev, Ilyushin and Mikoyan. Sukhoi finalised its "T-8" design in late 1968, and began in work on the first two prototypes (T8-1 and T8-2) in January 1972. The T8-1, the first airframe to be assembled, was completed just before a major national holiday on 9 May 1974. However, it did not make its first flight until 22 February 1975, after a long series of test flights by Vladimir Ilyushin. The Su-25 surpassed its main competitor in the Soviet Air Force competition, the Ilyushin Il-102, and series production was announced by the Ministry of Defence.
During flight-testing phases of the T8-1 and T8-2 prototypes' development, the Sukhoi Design Bureau's management proposed that the series production of the Su-25 should start at Factory No. 31 in Tbilisi, Soviet Republic of Georgia, which at that time was the major manufacturing base for the MiG-21UM "Mongol-B" trainer. After negotiations and completion of all stages of the state trials, the Soviet Ministry of Aircraft Production authorised manufacture of the Su-25 at Tbilisi, allowing series production to start in 1978.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, several Su-25 variants appeared, including modernised versions, and variants for specialised roles. The most significant designs were the Su-25UB dual-seat trainer, the Su-25BM target-towing variant, and the Su-25T for antitank missions. In addition, an Su-25KM prototype was developed by Georgia in co-operation with Israeli company Elbit Systems in 2001, but so far this variant has not achieved much commercial success. The Su-25 is the only armoured airplane still in production in 2007.
The Russian Air Force operates the largest number of Su-25s, and has plans to upgrade older aircraft to the Su-25SM variant. However, this process has been slowed due to a funding shortfall, by early 2007 only seven aircraft had been modified.

Soviet-style poster on trains that go between Baltimore and Washington DC. Transit riders took little notice of the large posters for months until its photo ended up on a rider's blog. An uproar of emails ensued, which according to Maryland Transit Authority spokeswoman was "really bizarre." Done in the heroic style typical of Soviet Propaganda, Watch, Ride & Report urges passengers to report any unusual activities or packages to the nearest conductor.

The Kruger National Park is a living memorial to President Paul Kruger and those who have upheld his vision of a protected wilderness reserve which will forever remind us of that which we are so dangerously close to loosing.
Located in the Southern Hemisphere, the Kruger Park has its share of rain and hot weather. During the summer months (September-April), the Park experiences sporadic rainfall in the form of quick thunder showers. April through August represent the winter months in Southern Africa which in turn means very little rain.
As far as rainfall is concerned, the southern region receives the largest amount of rainfall while the central plains receive the least.
The temperatures average from 30 C (86 F) in January (summer) to 23 C (73 F) in July (winter). Please be aware that the maximum temperature can reach 47 C (117 F) (January) and 35 C (95 F) (July).

ABOUT Sister Cities on Lifetime
Mary Baxter (Weaver and Smart, at different ages) led an enviable life, traveling the world as a young dancer. She was blessed with four daughters from four different fathers, each as unique as the cities they are named after: Carolina (Katic), Austin (Weixler), Dallas (Trachtenberg) and Baltimore (Bellisario). After Mary’s death, her daughters reunite in their New England family home to mourn. As the local police investigate the circumstances of Mary’s death, old animosities among the sisters resurface, and a dark secret threatens to tear the family apart. Faced with a horrifying truth, the estranged sisters must choose to either turn their back on the only family they have known, or risk everything to protect one another.
On the heels of a successful sold-out premiere at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival, Lifetime acquired the worldwide broadcast rights for Sister Cities. From the team behind Return to Zero, the independently produced film by Cannonball Productions, is directed by Sean Hanish, produced by Sean Hanish, Paul Jaconi-Biery, and Eleonore Dailly, and executive produced by Kelly Kahl and Alfred Molina. Colette Freedman wrote the script based upon her play. Visit Lifetime’s website for more info www.mylifetime.com/movies/sister-cities or Follow on Twitter @sistercitiesmov

ADAD 71: 3/12/15. Country Report.
A few weeks ago, a staff member came into my classroom and told me to sign up for a country to do a report on. It went in one ear and out the other. Yesterday, the principal announced during the morning announcements that there would be a special family night at school tonight. I asked another teacher. I am not required to be there, but all classes were required to do a class country report. Teachers not attending the event needed to put out a bulletin board.
Quick thinking.... During my years of sharing doll play online, I have been inspired by an online friend in the doll community. I have learned a bit about Finland and have developed a casual interest in it. Today was Finland day! There are a few more spaces I want to fill on this board, but it is up and ready for tonight!

ABOUT DISNEY'S "THE LION GUARD: RETURN OF THE ROAR”
Set in the African Savanna, "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar" follows Kion as he assembles the members of the Lion Guard. While traditionally the Lion Guard has been comprised of lions known to be the fiercest, bravest, fastest, strongest and keenest of sight in the Pride Lands, Kion breaks tradition by instead calling upon some of his friends who he believes best exemplify these heroic qualities – Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a friendly and good-spirited hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret.
The movie stars James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella reprise their roles from "The Lion King" as Mufasa and Pumbaa, respectively, alongside Rob Lowe ("The Grinder") as Simba and Gabrielle Union ("Being Mary Jane") as Nala. Max Charles ("The Strain") stars as Kion. The voice cast also includes Joshua Rush ("The Adventures of Puss in Boots") as Bunga; Atticus Shaffer ("The Middle") as Ono; Diamond White ("Sofia the First") as Fuli; and Dusan Brown ("Blaze and the Monster Machines") as Beshte. Additional cast members include: Eden Riegel ("All My Children") as Kiara, Sarah Hyland ("Modern Family") as Tiifu and Madison Pettis ("Jake and the Never Land Pirates") as Zuri, among others.

ANNUAL REPORT -2011-2012 Presented by Shri. C. Muthiah
Principal
Kendriya Vidyalaya Narimedu,
Madurai-625002
“The end-product of education should be a free creative man,” says Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Our annual report outlines our efforts to create such individuals who are definitely going to be assets to our country. It gives me great pride today to list out the achievements of our students in different areas in the course of this academic year.
ACADEMIC ACIEVEMENTS:
The Board exam results of the year 2011-12 have been very encouraging. While class X and the Science stream of class XII produced 100% result, the Commerce stream and Humanities stream result was 97%. In 2012 AISSE class X, 12 students have been awarded Certificate of merit by the CBSE for scoring A1 grades in all the five subjects. They are awarded Rs. 5000 each as per KVS norms.
In the AISSCE 2012 class XII, R. Prathima secured 100% in Biology and has figured in the 0.1% Merit list issued by the CBSE.
In addition to this, more than 50% of the students of the Science stream have secured more than 400 marks out of 500 in the AISSCE exam.
In class XII, 5 students from the Science stream and 2 students from the Humanities stream have been declared regional toppers and are awarded Rs. 5000/- by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. It gives me great pride here to say that out of the three regional toppers in the humanities stream, the first two rank holders are from our school. In addition to this, Mrs. S.Vanmathy Devi, PGT History has the rare distinction of securing a performance Index of 100% in History in the Humanities stream.
With regard to other classes, our school follows the continuous and comprehensive system of evaluation of students implemented by CBSE. The children of classes III to X are assessed through this method. The evaluation is done through a series of activities and paper pencil tests which make up the formative assessments and the term-end summative assessments. As the evaluation in this system is continuous, the child is made to work consistently throughout the year, which to a great extent, reduces his stress and fear of exams. A child is also able to identify his areas of interest and to improve significantly on them.
In the internal exams, the primary and the secondary sections upto class IX , produced 100% results.
Parent –teacher meetings are conducted regularly to apprise the parents of their wards’ performances in these tests.
Our teachers are taking all efforts to help the slow learners and the gifted children by giving them assignments suited to their needs. Special classes are taken in the mornings and in the evenings, both before and after the school hours and during the breaks.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Many inter-house competitions are conducted round the year, to bring out the latent talents of the children. Our school played host to the cluster level CCA competitions for the Primary and 24 students from our vidyalaya won prizes in various competitions.
Apart from this, children are also encouraged to participate in many inter-school competitions which give them an opportunity to showcase their talents.
NCC:
The NCC unit of our vidyalaya was commissioned in the year 2006 and from then on, it has grown from strength to strength. 50 students have enrolled as cadets this year with G.S. Murugan, PRT and commissioned officer, guiding them.25 NCC cadets attended the CATC camp held at Kambam this year from 13th to 22nd of May.
A conference on “Save Energy” was conducted on 30.10.12 in our school by the NCC and 50 cadets participated in this conference.
I take this opportunity to announce with great pride that a girl’s wing of the NCC has been approved and will start functioning from the next academic year.

Before I end this report, I would fail in my duties if I don’t mention the awards won by our teachers for their meritorious service to the student community. Mrs. Indra Ramaraju, PRT and HM I/c, Sri. M Pannerselvam, TGT PhE and Sri. K. Ramasamy, Librarian have been selected for the prestigious Regional Incentive Awards by the KVS. These teachers will be felicitated on KVS Foundation day ie. Dec. 15th at KV, Meenambakkam, Chennai. Two more teachers, Mrs. V. Gowri, PGT Chemistry and Mrs. Amirtha Anbalagan, PRT have been nominated as the Best Science teachers from our school. They too will be felicitated shortly. This recognition will, I am sure, inspire many more teachers to give their best and thereby benefit both the students and the society.
With this positive note, I end my report.
I wish you all a very pleasant and entertaining evening.
Thank you

New Zealand Herald, Volume LV, Issue 16982, 16 October 1918, Page 8
Major Edward Sherson, T.D., who has been killed in action, was a well-known Auckland officer. He joined "A" Battery nearly thirty years ago, and passed through every rank in turn from gunner to lieutenant-colonel, commanding the Auckland Field Artillery Brigade, being a commissioned officer for over twenty years. He held the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration and the Long Service Medal. At the outbreak of the war, although over military age, he offered to serve in any capacity the authorities desired. He was offered an appointment in the infantry with the rank of major, which he accepted, and left New Zealand in command of the twentieth reinforcements in December, 1916. Major Sherson took up his new duties so thoroughly that he quickly qualified for and was appointed to the position of chief musketry instructor in Sling camp, England, where he was kept till April last, when he crossed to France. There he joined the Second Battalion, Auckland Infantry, with which he was serving at the time of his death. Major Sherson leaves a widow and had four sons and one daughter, the youngest son being 14 years of age and the daughter 10. The two eldest sons are serving with the artillery in France, while the third was on the Antarctic ship Aurora when that vessel disappeared in the Pacific last year. [2]

SHERSON.— On the 5th June, accidentally killed in Khyber Pass Road, Hugh Sherson, second son of Mrs. A. M. Sherson, and the late Lieut.-Colonel E. Sherson, of 14, Haydn Street; aged 24 years. Funeral will leave his late residence, 14, Haydn Street, on Sunday, inst., at 2 p.m.[12]
CHAR-A-BANC CAPSIZES.
COLLISION WITH TRAMCAR.
MAN DIES OF INJURIES.
FIVE OTHER PEOPLE HURT.
A sensational accident, with fatal consequences, occurred in Khyber Pass Road at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, when a large char-a-banc, loaded with passengers for the races at Ellerslie, struck a tramcar and capsized, throwing the passengers into the roadway. Six persons sustained injuries necessitating medical attention, one of them succumbing to his injuries several hours later in the Auckland Hospital. Those who received injuries are: Mr. Hugh Sherson, aged 24. Assistant traffic inspector to the City Council, who resided at 14, Hayden Street, fatal injuries.
Mr. Frank Houser, a married man, aged 28, residing at King's Court, injuries to face and right arm.
Mr. Leonard Brokenshire, a young man residing at Avondale, bruises to face and hands.
Seaton Hammond, a child whose parents reside in Grey Lynn, injuries to right foot.
Delphio Jackson, a thirteen-year-old child, of Te Aroha, injuries to right leg.
Mr. Houser was admitted to the hospital, but the other four mentioned as receiving minor injuries were able to proceed to their homes. Another man, whose name was not ascertained, also received slight injuries, which were treated at the hospital before he went home.
Descent of Park Road Slope.
The char-a-banc, carrying a full complement of passengers, and driven by the owner, Mr. Frederick Charles Cleal, carrier, of Victoria Street West, was proceeding down the slope of Park Road with the engine cut off, when a tramcar, which had stopped immediately above the junction of the road with Khyber Pass Road, moved on again down Khyber Pass toward Newmarket. On seeing the tramcar, the driver of the motor-vehicle instantly applied the brakes, but the slope of the road and the heavy passenger load made a checking of speed and, though the vehicle swerved to avert a collision, it struck the rear of the tramcar and overturned. The passengers were thrown in all directions- Mr. Sherson was said to have been standing on the footboard by the driver's side when the vehicle capsized. The driver himself escaped injury. Dr. A. McG. Grant was summoned to the scene of the accident, and ordered Mr. Sherson, who was suffering from serious internal injuries, to be removed to the hospital. The injured man, however, succumbed at about 4.33 p.m. The char-a-banc sustained damage to the bonnet and minor breakages. The impact as it capsized tore the hood completely off. The vehicle was one of the largest of its class, and was insured. The tramcar, comprising two coupled cars, escaped all other damage than a broken side panel.
View Obscured by Hoarding.
The driver of the char-a-banc, Mr. Cleal, stated yesterday that his view of the tramcar was obscured at first by a large advertising hoarding situated at the side of the car-stop. On noticing the car moving out from the stop he sounded the horn frequently and applied the brakes, but they had no effect in stopping the vehicle's progress. A complaint regarding the same locality was made recently at a meeting of the Grammar School Board of Governors, when it was pointed out that a similar hoarding on the opposite side of the road constituted a danger to traffic emerging from Mountain Road into Khyber Pass.
The record of the family has been a somewhat tragic one, the father having been killed in action during the war, and the youngest of the three sons having lost his life on the Antarctic ship Aurora which disappeared in the Pacific in 1917.
Mr. Hugh Sherson was born in Auckland, and was educated at the Beresford Street School and the Auckland Grammar School. He went to the front in 1918 as a gunner in the 9th Battery, New Zealand Field Artillery. On his return after the armistice he undertook traffic inspector's duties for the City Council. Deceased's father, Major Edward Sherson, a well-known Auckland officer, left for the front in 1916, in command of the 20th served with the Second Battalion, Auckland Infantry, and was killed at Crevecoeur in October, 1918. Before the war he was a lieut.-colonel in the Field Artillery, The eldest son served with the artillery in France, and is now a purser on the Paloona.[13]
