Well this Sunday was another walkabout in Escondido. Once again I headed to Daley Ranch. I figured since we had just received 6 ½ inches of rain in the past week and their was a slight chance of rain their would be few if any folks hiking the ranch. I was feeling giddy as I approach the ranch since I only saw two vehicles parked along the street, parking lot is still closed. But then I come upon this sign, Daley Ranch Closed. Noooo!!!. So off I went on another Escondido walkabout. I decided to walk all the streets of the Eureka Springs development east of Valley Parkway and maybe if I’m lucky find a trail from the development up into the Property east of the development that the Escondido Creek Conservancy had acquired. That property contains Tombstone, Old Rocky, Anvil, and Bottle Peaks. All peaks I can see from my house. I did find a nice trail that scoots along the eastern boundary of the development but the eastern edge of the trial is fenced, dang, then I come upon an end to the fencing and a sign identifying the property to the east as a preserve owned and operated by the County of San Diego and although no official trail leads off into it there is a use trail. So I headed up this steep use trail that is generally headed in the direction of Old Anvil. I made it up maybe 500 or so vertical feet before I was stopped by a rock face that it ascended. My boots are wet, and the rock is wet so I decided today was not a good day to climb that rock. Will have to return and try it on a dry day. Hooray maybe I can get a real adventure during this lockdown. So I headed back down and continued thru the Eureka Springs development into the Hidden Trails development and discovered a fire access only lane connecting to the Hidden Estates. I didn’t even know this Hidden Estates existed. I continued thru Hidden Estates and eventually ended up on Reed Road. I have not been up Reed road in decades and my has it changed. Used to be nothing but country with a few scattered homes but now it is a development. That bummed me but on the bright side I have discovered a nicer way to walk to Daley Ranch from the house and also a nice way to get to that use trail into what I call Bottle Peak Preserve. Attached are a few photos of the walkabout.

In the early 1990s, following the début of Lexus, automotive press reports indicated a forthcoming mid-size Lexus coupé to compete with the luxury coupés of other marques like Mercedes-Benz SL, Acura Legend coupe, Mazda Eunos Cosmo and Infiniti M30 coupe. At that point, Toyota had no genuine luxury coupés in its model range. A coupe would complement the successful Lexus flagship model, the V8-powered, rear-wheel drive LS 400 sedan. The coupé was going to be targeted towards the American market, and the development effort for its exterior design was handed over to the Calty Design Research center in California in 1987.
Production of the Soarer started in April 1991 at the Motomachi plant in Toyota, Aichi, with the Lexus SC produced alongside the Soarer at a second Higashi Fuji plant. The Lexus SC platform was used to develop Toyota's next generation Supra, both vehicles were manufactured in the same plant.
The SC 400 débuted on 1 June 1991 in the United States as a 1992 model. The SC 400's 4.0 L V8 1UZ-FE, the same engine as used in the LS 400. The engine sits behind the front axles, which makes it a front mid engine rear wheel drive vehicle. The SC 400 produced 250 hp (186 kW)/260 lb⋅ft (353 N⋅m) from 1991 to 1995.
The first-generation SC lasted in production until 7 July 2000.

At the event, the press got to watch as Cheryl Cecchetto unveiled the décor for the ball along with the floral theme unveiled by Mark Garden. Of course, the Governors Ball Press Preview would not be complete without seeing, talking to and tasting Wolfgang Puck and his team of chefs menu samples. Also on hand were Sterling Vineyards with their reserve selection of wines and Champagne Thiénot with the exclusive champagne for the ball. Johnnie Walker, Baileys and Cîroc as revealed their featured cocktails and recipes to share with our audience in hopes of inspiring hostesses for Oscar Sunday.
We also got to see this year’s “envelope” as Marc Friedland unveiled the design of the envelopes and announcement cards bearing the names of Oscar winners - don’t worry, we didn’t see anyone’s name… we all have to wait until March 2nd, Oscar Sunday!
