The interior designer Caroline tries to assemble a nonrepeating pattern discovered by the David Smith from Yorkshire. The shape is supposed to be a in a nonrepeating pattern a so called “einstein” or “one stone. Usually wallpaper or tiled floor are part of an infinite pattern that repeats periodically. An aperiodic tiling displays no such “translational symmetry,” and mathematicians have long sought a single shape that could tile the plane in such a fashion. This is known as the einstein problem.
The beautiful repeating columns and striking shadows caught my eye at a medical center in Webster, Texas.

I took this about a week ago and was so pleased with the color palette in this. Bright, bold and beautiful - this proud poppy!!
Such a singleton bloom has become one of the more often used cliche shots in Flickrville. I've really grown to love them as folks have done some wonderful variations of them. But it is soooooo worth repeating with this gorgeous orange poppy! Make it a Happy Cliche Saturday!!
Laan van Meerdervoort, The Hague, The Netherlands.
Built: 1954 in the style of the New Hague School of architecture.
I've just joined a new group which offers a weekly photo challenge. The subject for the first week was 'Repeating patterns' and even though I found myself seeing patterns everywhere it was a while before I found something I wanted to photograph. I was in Brighton again today and went onto the beach under the pier where I saw this criss-cross view stretching out before me. I'm not sure why, but there's something about all the ropes and bits of netting hanging under the pier that makes me think of pirates. :)
Dunstanbourgh Castle looking moody. I never seem to get a sunrise at this location, so must try harder. The tide was a little further out than I had expected too, so a portrait of rock rather than wave. Northumberland, or the land north of the Humber, should really be called coast of the slippy rock! How did the Vikings invade this stretch of coast? Did they have supper footwear?
(I am aware of the repeating heads I only realised after I'd taken it and didn't want to go to the trouble to setting everything up to redo it)
The first figure (Same as in 1940) is an RAF airman, representing not only the bomber campaign over Germany but one of the most famous raids of the Second World War. The Dambusters raid in May 1943 attacked German dams in the Ruhr, a heavily industry area using a specially designed bomb. The flooding caused put factories out of action and stopped any water fueled power stations from generating electricity. The second figure represents the German army's retreat through Russia as the Russian army with new tactics and more men gain the upper hand. In July of 1943 Commonwealth and American forces landed at Sicily to begin the Italian campaign following after the African campaign. And finally is a French Resistance fighter, which represents the increased attacks on German communications, vehicles and men as the invasion of Europe drew closer.
Thanks for taking a look, would love to hear your comments as always. :)
