Back in August of this year I took the same exact shot of 867 heading north here, albeit it was about 70 degrees warmer!!!
Pacific Crest Trail, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington
On another sunny day in this endlessly hot and dry summer, I headed to my happy place: boots on a trail in the mountains. With forecasted hot temperatures even at the higher elevations, and feeling a bit lacking in ambition after last week's challenging hike to Grand Park, I opted for a familiar trail closer to home.
The dry winter and hot summer have taken a toll on the wildflowers that typically carpet these hillsides, though patches of paintbrush and daisies still manage to valiantly defy the conditions. And as always, the immutable beauty of the mountains endures...

Hoping to repeat another with another amazing day of photo exploration. I discovered that the magic exists not only in the place, but in the people that you meet along the way. I have always known that Flickr people are awesome, but have never met any in person...until yesterday. After I dropped Jackie off at her dorm this afternoon, I decided to drive down to the lake since I was already downtown. I had heard that the winds would be gusting up to 55 MPH today ... but I was not prepared for the sight that met me down on the lake! The normal walking path for this scene is on the other side of this fence! I had to scramble to this side due to the "force of nature!"
In my experience; this just isn't normal for Lake Michigan! Operative word being that this is a 'lake!' But I had a strong feeling there would be some action on the lakefront because when I was cruising down Lake Shore Drive; the waves were crashing over the road!!
Pearl Jam — Force of Nature I so LOVE ♥ this song ... and I've been listening to it on 'repeat' since I got home!
Happy Slider Sunday! -- Slidin' in a bit late this Sunday Eve! As a side note for those that care; the Chicago Bears are gettin' whooped in this weather! About 9 miles south of where I was standing at this exact moment!! :D
Office building in Bergamo, Italy which I think may just have been recently abandoned as there didn't seem to be any signs of life in there and the gates etc were all locked up.

In August, CEFX 1002 made its first appearance on the North Toronto Sub (in the CMQ scheme) nose-out DPU on 113. Today, 1002's twin; CEFX 1006 appeared in the exact same position on the exact same train and is seen here pushing hard on the rear of the daily Montreal-Vancouver stack train as they clear Bartlett Avenue at mile 4.6 of the North Toronto Sub.
