♫ Same Mistakes ♫ - James Blunt
Immortality
by Lindsay Laurie
Mortal are us human kind
seeking peace with baited breath.
Immortality imparts the mind
to believe there is no death.
Immortality is really history …
writings from the then times wealth.
Replayed in a similar mode
as history repeats itself.
Each tiny fraction of the puzzle,
is ancient generations text,
leads the way to consider
what right now is needed next …
Each year reaches new horizons,
the past has been addressed -
and we live our life believing,
our time is the very best.
We had seen the red-headed woodpecker in the Rehoboth Bay, Delaware, area only once in the 30 years we have been visiting there. We took a picture of that one back in 2016 which was selected for 'In Explore' (see comment 1). Now, suddenly this month and seven years later the subject red-headed woodpecker shows up in almost exactly the same place.

Dedicated to Cleide for her birthday :-)
More conventional, this shot, but at F8 more is in good focus. I am celebrating these marvellous tree peony blossoms with my photography. They are big (the size of the human face) and interesting (like a human face) and they won't last for much longer.

Please excuse my furry friends in this one, they wouldn't hold still for a 6 second exposure. Selfish.
It's Friday! And I'm off work 😊 Hooray!

Piemonte, Italia: tutto nella storia si ripete con una cadenza sistematica.
Piedmont, Italy: everything in history repeats itself with a systematic cadence.
The monumental Ludwigsluster town church became times of the residence settlement between 1765 - in 1770 builds and looks with her classicistic facade very temple-like. Inside of the church duke Friedrich the devout, the founder of the church rests under a granite block. The chancel lies ten steps raised to which on both sides wide-curved stairs go up. In the middle before the altar is the pulpit ange-broke. The interior repeats in the same axis the arrangement of throne and altar like castle and church. Behind the gigantic painting, there is the organ (Frisian).
Good to have the Baltimore Orioles return. Something we can look forward to every spring. This male was out enjoying the pleasant weather.
Missed this a few days earlier, luckily it re-ran twice in the same week on the lovely midday through Robertson path, perfect for trains heading south in winter.

Back in August of this year I took the same exact shot of 867 heading north here, albeit it was about 70 degrees warmer!!!
Short-eared Owl coming in hot! Quite possibly the best day ever! Hopefully we can repeat it again someday!
Pacific Crest Trail, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington
On another sunny day in this endlessly hot and dry summer, I headed to my happy place: boots on a trail in the mountains. With forecasted hot temperatures even at the higher elevations, and feeling a bit lacking in ambition after last week's challenging hike to Grand Park, I opted for a familiar trail closer to home.
The dry winter and hot summer have taken a toll on the wildflowers that typically carpet these hillsides, though patches of paintbrush and daisies still manage to valiantly defy the conditions. And as always, the immutable beauty of the mountains endures...
