Using the Backhoe to remove the worn 60lb D rail from the home signal curve near Daylesford prior to replacing with ex NSWGR 60lb B rail.
Removing Backgrounds:

Remove the old seal with a pick or gently knock out from the back side with a screw driver and hammer
One small rosette was removed by melting the hide glue with
Boiling water in a syringe and a thin knife. The white wire is
keeping the rosette from getting lost inside the instrument.
On assignment for a travel magazine, I went on an helicopter flight around the area. One door had been removed for me to take pictures. Nonetheless, even if I was secured with strong belts, the first 5 minutes in the air were pretty scary. And by the end of the flight my hands were freezing! But I had a lot of fun :)

In the nineties I had the chance to work extensively for a few travel and life-style magazines while I was based first in Milan, Italy and later in New York, NY. When on assignment the schedule was usually tight and the time to photograph not always in sync with the best light or weather conditions, it happens. Nonetheless I always managed to bring home the result and keep my editors happy, which is paramount if you want to land more assignments that, by the way, brought me to several countries around the world.
Some assignments were more fun than others, or easier to accomplish but, nevertheless, each one of them was a good experience and left great memories.
A selection of the images shot then are now part of a photobook, a great collection of beautiful pictures and enriching anecdotes.

Biologists scan a small section of the Surprise Lake Tributary near Fife, WA looking for fish. Once spotted, they'll scoop them up, place them in buckets of water and move them to a new location.
De-fishing is a critical first step before we can begin working in creeks. Whether the fish (and other aquatic species) have protected status or not, our goal is to make sure they all survive.
We de-fished this part of the tributary before beginning the heavy work of restoring the entire wetlands. The work is part of the SR 167 Completion Project. In addition to building six new miles of highway, we're also restoring more than 150 acres of wetlands and creeks on both sides of I-5 near the Fife curve.
The wetland area was converted to agricultural and industrial use decades ago. Our work will restore the area to a natural state and create habitat for fish and wildlife.
The SR 167 Completion project is part of our Puget Sound Gateway Program which completes critical links in our highway and freight network. It will build an important new connection to the Port of Tacoma, improve the movement of freight and reduce congestion on local roads and highways.

when i went home, i washed the bracken in water, and soaked them with hot water that melts bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) soon. it has the action that removes the harshness of the bracken. (you may use the ash if there is no bicarbonate of soda.)

Because of the holey texture of the fabric, I used red thread and hand basted a line into the garment. I used this line as the guide to remove the additional width from the sweater.
