Remembering the Turntable Lab ground floor storefront on East 7th Street in the East Village which was originally founded by Peter Hahn and his friends Anthony & Jasper in 1999 as an online store when Peter was DJing while attending NYU. This shop which sells a wide curated selection of vinyl records, turntables, speakers, headphones and other HiFi equipment was the first online store to cater to DJs. Although the East 7th St. store moved to a larger location on East 10th St. in 2017, that location closed during the pandemic in 2020) and they now operate their popular online shop from their warehouse space inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Although we miss “crate digging” for often hard to find vinyl records at their East Village shop, we are happy that this independently-owned vinyl /turntable shop has survived for close to 25 years.

The tallest tower in the background is in place of the Twin Towers. Their plan is to build six towers around that area.
This picture my wife took of me during our trip to NYC in Oct 2013. It was quite a trip. For some reasons I love the vibe of the city even though we were exhausted from walking hundreds of mile from place to place. I would love to come back and visit there in a near future!
The boat behind me was the Liberty boat taking and dropping off people from Manhattan to Liberty Island.
On the 1st of July 1916 The Battle of The Somme began becoming the bloodiest battle in the history of warfare with so much loss of live... The humble poppy flowered in those fields after the battle due to all the ground being dug over and trampled down, it has now become the symbol for us all to remember the fallen and never forget.
Lest we forget the many that lost their lives on this day, and the ones that so bravely gave theirs to save others.

Browsing my old photos in search for a wallpaper for my new phone I came across this. It's in lovely Stoupa, a Peloponnese gem which can get rather crowded in the summer. This however is end September and as you can see there's one person swimming... Few minutes later there were three, when my wife and I joined in :-)))
Memorial Day is not about barbeques or the beach.

'The Tower of London Remembers'...Lest we forget...

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. The Virginia Beach Fraternal Order of Police hosts this annual memorial service as a tribute to all local law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty in service to the City of Virginia Beach.
Reminder: Flags should be flown at half-staff on May 15th
This tribute to American law enforcement officers is part of the historic crime bill that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994. At the request of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Public Law 103-322 designates Peace Officers Memorial Day as one of only two days each year during which government agencies, businesses and residents are to fly their U.S. flags at half-staff.
“Just as we honor those who died in military service each Memorial Day, our nation pauses each May 15th to show its appreciation for the more than 20,000 men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our communities and safeguarding our democracy here at home,” said Craig W. Floyd, Memorial Fund Chairman and CEO. “Lowering flags to half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day is also a way to remember the family members, friends and colleagues these brave American heroes left behind.”
