“If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example.” ― Anne Frank

This is the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. It is dedicated to the approximately eleven million people who were killed by the German military, under the command of Adolf Hitler. Between 1941 and 1945, Jews, Gypsies, Poles, communists, homosexuals, the mentally and physically disabled, and other ethnic and political minorities were targeted and methodically murdered in the largest genocide of the 20th century.
This memorial was designed by the architect Peter Eisenman and the engineer Buro Happold. It consists of a 19,000 m2 (4.7-acre) site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae" and therefore is a constantly reminder for us, the german poeple, to never forget our past.

New Blade Runner really put me in the mind of the atmosphere it had.
In it's last week of operation, cars fill CTA's Wilson Shop. Car 30 at right is now at the Illinois Railway Museum. February 1996.

A special day of remembering in our hearts, the bravery, selflessness and sacrafices, all made for our freedom.

YES, they were born EXACTLY a month apart!
Most times I'd come home from work, I'd find them holding hands right next to each other's recliner watching TV. Sometimes, they'd be asleep and still holding each other's hands. They had been married for 72 years when Mom passed. They renewed their wedding vows every five years after their Golden Anniversary.
I do MISS them but not to the point of wishing they were still with me. They've worked so hard all their lives and now deserved to have eternal life promised for them. They have raised 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 1/2 great grandchildren, so far. I thank God each day for sending me such loving and caring parents and for the years of living with them until they left for their Eternal Home.
THANK YOU FOR THIS WEEK'S THEME!
It brought up a lot of happy memories and happy smiles!

THEME: HOLDING
SUBJECT: DAD AND MOM
A useless granary has become an old car magnet yet retains its nice architectural structure. Minnesota winters back in the 1950s were always cold. Our house was drafty with single pane windows and uneven heat that originated from an oil burning stove and made its way upstairs to our bedrooms via small in-floor grates. Decades later I can easily recall walking to do chores and how my nose and ears stung with the cold and my feet slowly went numb inside my overshoes.
In loving memory of my father....I went skijoring with my dogs, totally overdid it to the max, so I had to take a nap, which BTW my Dad was famous for ....( sorry Dad, had to let it slip) then slednecked into a gorgeous sunset similar to this one. Only I didn't take the cam so I posted this... It was a good day and after the rough week I had... very well deserved. Cheers!!
I had fun the other day remembering all the wonderful days on this beach with Sue, and playing with driftwood. It was where we first asked each other to marry, and spent so many fantastic days together, and with friends and family through the years. I'm still sort of drifting without her, sometimes through choppy waters, and think of her every day. But I'm off to see our favourite band tonight, British Sea Power, and her favourite song was Remember Me, guaranteed to get her dancing.
Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.
Henry Ford was born on this day in 1863 - two years before the end of the American Civil War. My shot is from a trip to the Daytona Turkey Run where, as usual, I wasn't quite interested enough to note the subject's year of vintage. My resident expert says the Ford logo never looked like that, the bumper has been replaced with nerf bars, and the louvers are fake. He couldn't date it so I'm counting on someone here to do it!

Ray didn't quite get the focussing right on this self portrait from three years ago . And who's the human in the background ! Of course we miss him and they'll never be another Ray.

This Panorama image gives me relief in knowing that all in this world has not changed to suit progress. Perhaps the world of days gone by saying "Remember Me?
Lately I have grown fond of creating wide sweeping panorama images. in doing so, I have found that in some cases, a single shot (even with a full frame camera and wide angle lens) just didn't capture the entire scene as I would like to remember it.
This is my biggest panorama thus far - composed with 10 original images.
Freedom Rock was started by an Iowa boy, Bubba Sorensen. Now, these are found all over the state and are starting to pop up nationwide. This is the work of another artist as inspired by Bubba. Found in Newton, Iowa

May the recipient of David's sight see the beauty of the world the way he did.
May the recipient of Allen's heart love the way he did.
