Regular readers of my diary know about my ongoing campaign to keep the Cane Toad, or Sapo (www.flickr.com/photos/pgurt2/6953325042/) , population in my yard and pool to a minimum.
Rather than toss them over the fence only to have them return in a day or two I've been practicing a catch and release method, keeping them overnight and taking them to the river in the morning.
I let them loose here in this small pond on a tributary of the river which is about 50 feet below. It doesn't completely solve the problem but it certainly limits their numbers on my property.
Now tell me this setting doesn't beat living by a crumby old backyard swimming pool?
"Relocation" is a piece composed of two photographs of the same size side by side. In both photos, I am seen wearing a white dress shirt and black jeans. In the left photo, I am smiling, wearing red lipstick and on the left sleeve of my shirt, there are red pieces of fabric and 5 pieces of red yarn sewn on. There is also red and crimson food dye dripping on the sleeve. My hands are in a prayer position in front of the center of my torso. In the right photo, the dress shirt is plain, but my hair is messy and my eyes are dark with makeup. My face is distressed and my arms are by my side. Both photos are edited to have low saturation and to appear very dark and moody. The photos are also slightly grainy and have high sharpness. The concept behind this piece is self-harm and how people use it to try to turn their emotional pain into physical pain, but it's not an effective method. The mood of this piece is very dark and gory as it shows one bleeding out. It also shows irony, as in the middle photo, I am seen smiling while I'm 'bleeding out.' This piece is a self-reflective piece as it discusses my personal experience and struggle with depression and self-harm and how I've grown to learn that it is not effective and just causes more harm than one started with. This is portrayed as I tell a story through these pieces: the first photo shows me, clean, but in extreme mental distress. The second photo shows me bleeding and feeling at ease and experiencing a break from feeling miserable. The last photo shows me bleeding and in distress, tying in the message that self-harm is not a suitable coping mechanism to get rid of mental distress and just causes more harm that the beginning.

June 27, 2017 - Docked in Fengdu, China. Our shore excursion this morning is to meet with families that were displaced by the flooding caused by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. The family we were supposed to meet with wasn't home at our first stop. Their new house was built on the land right behind an existing family home. We visited the family in the original home and found out that their children moved to Xian. When the elderly couple can no longer take care of themselves their children must move back to take care of them in their home. They said they don't want to leave their home and move to the big city and live in a high-rise apartment block.

Relocated was a three year (2001 – 2003) project based at Kensington public housing estate.
Photographer Angela Bailey and writer Angela Costi were based at the estate and worked with tenants and relocated tenants to document the redevelopment of this estate in physical, social and emotional terms and to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution made by tenants (past and present) to Kensington and to Melbourne generally.
This public housing estate was redeveloped into a new public/private housing development and 400 households (around 1000 people) were relocated temporarily or permanently from the estate to suburbs across Melbourne. Given the small size of Kensington (approximately 5000 people), this redevelopment signified a huge shift locally.
The project was a collaboration with the Tenants Union of Victoria, the Kensington Public Tenants Association, and the Office of Housing. Public outcomes of reLOCATED included an exhibition and public performance on the estate, an exhibition at Horti Hall Gallery in Carlton, and the publication of a book.

Kilrush Wood used to have a little Well dedicated to St. Senan, the ancient stones have gone and all that's left is a muddy little hole and a bench made of cinder blocks. To contemplate the muddy little hole, I suppose.
Further into the wood, away from the beaten tracks and regular footpaths, I came across this little gem.

This is my redemption for yesterday
Relocations of Internally Displaced Persons in the UNMISS Bentiu Protection of Civilians site. "We have so far relocated 40,000 internal displaced persons to the new POC site" said Norbert Niwodusenga, Head of UNMISS RRP in Bentiu. He added that by 6 July 2015, they plan to be finished with the relocation of 75,000 persons. The old POC site that had a capacity of 6,000 persons was not designed to accommodate current capacity. As the conflict continues, UNMISS, IOM and other partners have constructed a new area of 1.5 square kilometers with well demarcations and elevated land.

This site in Cadiz Viejo will house around three hundred residents from the island of Lacawon. Only eight houses survived the storm on the island and the community also suffered from constant threats of eviction from the landowner. Strong, typhoon-resistant houses will soon be built on this 5.5 hectare plot of land donated by the mayor of Cadiz.
Elephant #135, Gerald, has been relocated from the staff entrance to Selfridges, so as not to cause offence. It features leaves cut out from photographs of intimate body parts. He was on display this evening to the public at the Elephant Parade headquarters on London's Gower Street.

The relocated War Memorial which now occupies a position on the wall of the Great Eastern Hotel. The main building of 50 Liverpool Street was formerly located in this area.
The War Memorial was originally located within the west side, Mainline booking hall on its northern wall. with the Fryatt and Wilson memorials located to it's left and right respectively. The effect of the memorial was diminished by the insertion of a mezzanine floor in the booking hall during the 1960's.
A further War Memorial, for the GER Division of Commerce had been unveiled on 2nd February 1921 in Hamilton House on the station's east side, although the location of this plaque appears to have been lost.
