In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 Japanese to leave their homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps. Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten camps.
On October 9, 1990, a ceremony was held to present the first reparations checks. Nine elderly Japanese received $20,000 each and a formal apology signed by President George H. W. Bush. Payments to surviving internees or their heirs continued until 1993, Clinton Administration.

The Zacuto FS100 Grip Relocator gives users the choice to place the Sony FS100 removable grip onto any 15mm rod. The FS100 handle attaches to our Grip Relocator with a single ¼ 20 screw and a locator pin. You can place the FS100 Relocator at a handgrip for shoulder mounted work or anywhere on a rig that is most suitable for you and your set up. It uses Zacuto’s Zwivel technology so it can be swiveled up and forward or straight down for ideal comfort and rig compatibility.
With the FS100 Grip Relocator, users can comfortably control start/stop of the camera while working shoulder mounted. The Sony grip comes with a 12" cable. We recommend adding this LANC extension cable for more flexibility.
Now relocated in Reykjavik. It was closed for the winter when we visited but there was a number to call if you were passing and wanted to have a look round (as is the case with most museums and shops outside the capital in the winter). Not really something we wanted to appear keen to look round!

Auto Relo Plus was contracted by my employer to move my car from Minneapolis to Chicago for a job transfer.

They'll ruin your car and make you deal with the aggravation of getting it fixed. ARP moved my car as part of a corporate relocation. My car was on top of the car carrier, and the truck driver didn't make it under a bridge. My car had nearly $6,000 in damage. They also sat on the car for 4 days before they told me what had happened, and wouldn't tell me where it happened. Anyone reading this should know that ARP has substandard insurance. Their estimate of my vehicle's damage was $1600 vs. the nearly $6k that a reputable body shop AND my own insurance company estimated. The difference? They pay a labor rate of $26/hr. I can't even find a teenager to cut my grass for that low of an hourly rate. Then they tried to tell me that there are "approved" body shops that will do the work for this price - they were all chop shops. I finally was forced to submit a claim with my own insurance and have them subrogate against ARP's subpar insurance company to get the work done right. Not recommended.
Update: I went to trade in the vehicle Auto Relocation Plus damaged. The dealer pulled a vehicle history report, which stated that the car was involved in a rollover. Needless to say, there was a significant amount of diminished value to the vehicle (i.e. now worth much less). I also found it interesting (of not infuriating) that someone had reported the damage, but ARP couldn't/wouldn't/didn't ever give me a straight story regarding what had actually happened. I lost thousands of dollars based on their poor business practices. These people are shady - buyer beware dontuseautoreloplus.blogspot.com/

The homeland of the Manasir will be submerged by the reservoir lake of the Hamdab High Dam (Merowe Multi-Purpose Hydro Project) in the very near future and all inhabitants have to be relocated by the Sudanese government.

Around 1903 Dr. John Meinhardi built this drugstore in Whitehall, Michigan. The building was eventually moved from the street to the rear of a house and sat unused for decades. In 2011 it was moved to Lyons Park for restoration.

i was lucky enough to stumble upon a loot of granny squares at goodwill a few months back. their first job was to hang pretty from our apple tree. i have new plans for them that they are unaware of, but i have told them that their beauty will surely get noticed being strung from their new home...just in time for the holidays

A bluejay attacked the oriole's nest, killing one baby and de-nesting the other before it could fly. We agonized over the decision: leave it on the ground and see if the parents would care for it or take it to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Due to the large number of dogs in the surrounding houses not to mention other predators, the kids voted for the rehab center so we packed the little sweetie in a box. His parents moved on the next day. I'm wondering if they'll risk nesting in my yard next year.
My last 365, at least for now.

Moved the hives to the edge of a raised bed to make inspection easier. We pulled the blocks the first time we had to lift the upper full deep.
We moved from Kirriemuir AB to Hanna AB this past July. An excellent opportunity presented itself in Hanna for my wife to each at the school here and she took it. So I am no longer a denizen of the Neutral Hills.
Sidewalks... Those will take some getting used to again.
