How To Relieve Bloating in 4 Easy ways ift.tt/19ZnDKf Bloating can really put a sour note on your day. You don't feel good, your clothes don't fit right and the side effects can be a little embarrassing. However, there are some things you can do to ease the discomfort you feel while bloated. First, it's important to understand where bloating stems from so you can alter your habits accordingly. If bloating still occurs, there are some easy tips and tricks you can follow in order to reduce your symptoms. How To Relieve Bloating - COMMON CAUSES OF BLOATING Bloating can be caused by a wide variety of factors. In some cases, it's a medical condition or emotional state that you can't help. In other situations, it could be from the foods you're eating. Here's a list of the top causes of bloating to help you understand where this condition stems from: Acute conditions: Problems in the gastrointestinal area, like an infection or blockage, may also lead to bloating. Premenstrual syndrome: Many women experience bloating during PMS due to increased water retention. Smoking: The increased air intake that occurs while smoking cigarettes can lead to bloating. Stress: Hormonal changes due to stress may cause some bloating. Also, stress can sometimes lead to poor digestion which can also lead to bloating. Poor food choices: Some foods are more likely to lead to gas and bloating. Eating healthy is not a sure-fire fix since even some healthy foods can cause bloating. 4 TIPS FOR REDUCING BLOATING How To Relieve Bloating - Avoid belly-bloating foods You should either avoid these foods altogether or eat them in limited amounts: Excess carbohydrates: Eating too many carbs can lead to unnecessary water retention, which leads to bloating. Raw veggies: Many veggies are known to cause gas when eaten raw, especially cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, onions and Brussels sprouts. Simply cook your veggies instead - the nutritional value is equal to that of raw veggies. Spicy foods: The spicier a meal is, the more stomach acid it will trigger, which leads to bloating and irritation. Fatty foods: Foods with a lot of fats, especially fried foods, cause bloating because they are digested very slowly. Pick foods with monounsaturated fatty acids instead, like walnuts, sunflower seeds and avocados. Salt: Avoid foods with too much salt, including processed foods, whenever possible. The sodium attracts water, which causes the body to retain fluids. Carbonated drinks: The air bubbles in caffeinated drinks like soda end up in your belly. Acidic drinks: Fruit juice, coffee and alcohol each have a high acid content which can cause swelling in the gastrointestinal tract. Chewing gum: You swallow air as you chew gum, which causes bloating. How To Relieve Bloating - Eat bloat-busting foods instead These are the top dietary changes you should make in order to prevent bloating: Fiber: Your digestive system will be much more efficient with enough fiber in your diet, which in turn decreases the likelihood of bloating. High-fiber foods include bran cereals, blueberries, peas and lentils. Carminative herbs: Herbs like peppermint, chamomile, fennel and ginger are all great for reducing gas. You can eat foods with these ingredients or drink them as a tea. Water: Despite the fact that bloating is often due to water retention, drinking more water helps to flush out the system and reduce bloating. How To Relieve Bloating - Change your habits There are a few simple changes you can make to your daily routine to prevent bloating before it happens: Exercise more: Even just a short, brisk walk each day can reduce bloating because the activity helps the digestive tract process gas more quickly. Eat slowly: When you eat too quickly or while talking, you're more likely to take in excess air, which can turn into a bloated belly. Slow down while you eat and always close your mouth while chewing. Don't use straws: Drinking with a straw can also cause excess air intake and bloating. Check your meds: Some prescriptions and supplements contain carbonate or bicarbonate, both of which can cause bloating. Ask your doctor about these side effects and how to prevent them. Belch more: Though it may seem a little crass, a few stealthy burps can help get rid of excess gas from your stomach. How To Relieve Bloating - Natural Remedies for Bloating Even with these lifestyle and dietary changes, you may still experience bloating once in a while. Here is our Number 1 recommended remedy for bloating BROWTOL Finally, if your bloating is severe or chronic, you should see a doctor as this could be a sign of a more serious condition. May contain seizure inducing lights, sounds or thoughts. Proceed at your own risk.
It’s the last weekend before the cesspools and Petrie dishes we commonly refer to as schools relieve little and not so little people (sic) from our personal space for a few hours a day, some days, some weeks, for up to 6 hours if there are no fire alarms, earthquakes, actual fires, viral outbreaks, job actions or active shooter incidents. Wait, that’s my American news feed making me crazy. Up here at waypoint Bravo, it’s a cause for fireworks and celebrations. That, and it’s Saturday night, alright. Susie?
Be gone ye little vermin. These lights and sounds will make you want to be locked up in stinky cinder block rooms so mummy and daddy can have a little me time. Or, more likely work, clean, take the pets to the vet, run to the bank and shop for your sorry little excuses of humanity. Then we can get in our cars, vans and SUVs, drive a block or two around the neighborhood and line up for hours with all the other loser parents, many of whom have already been drinking because maybe they skipped on one or two of the other tasks. Waiting for hours to drive up to the doorstep of the school and open the doors for you to enter like a frikin’ Prima Donna leaving a swanky cash only night club with paparazzi screaming for attention. No, walking to and from school for you my precious. It is dangerous. You could be kidnapped, raped, start doing drugs or worse! You could talk to other kids, run and skin your knee, lose a baseball glove or maybe get wet in the rain, whenever that gets here. Of course if that happens maybe you’ll start wearing pants in winter instead of shorts.
When I was your age, mother locked the door when I left the top stoop in the morning, shortly after brushing my teeth, and I didn’t get back in until it was too dark to ride my bike. I’d have a 40 lb bag of books, papers and a cheese slice and white bread sandwich on my back. I would walk 2 miles to school, uphill, in the snow, both ways. And I would run, get wet and fear being ambushed by the notorious kissing girls gang every day. Note the use of ambushed rather than attacked. I remember being ambushed more than once.
Bring it on. Bring it on! Whiz, boom, sizzle.

This pic is from 1999---2 years into my adventure~ journey as a hospice social worker.
This is Mr. Frank Jones and Ms. Fairy Bunton. Mr. Jones was actually 103 on this day.
He and Fairy shared a birthday although they were 26 years apart. I do not know if this is just a southern custom or not but that is why they have the bills pinned to their clothes. People are supposed to pin money on you for your birthday. Mr. Jones had one leg amputated and had lung cancer although you would not know it from this picture. He was quite full of life until the last few days of it. We even danced on their porch a few times! He had the most fantastic stories of growing up in Austin before it was really Austin and dancing in the “Black” clubs back in the 30’s and 40’s. He was a porter for many years at a fancy hotel downtown. So many people from his past kept up with him through the years and many came to visit him on this, his last birthday. He never married or had children and he outlived all his siblings, but he had lots of nieces and nephews in California who called often. He told me numerous stories about his girlfriends through the years but no one stuck by him like Ms. Fairy. She was quite elderly herself and diabetic and they lived in a shabby house but she took care of him mostly by herself until the very end. He liked to eat pickles with lots of salt and sit on his porch and watch the goings on in the neighborhood. He had a pastor friend who visited him regularly and our hospice chaplain but he wanted to get to church one last time. We helped him accomplish this in the last month he was alive and I think it really brought him a great sense of peace. In his last week of life, he quite literally decided that he was finished and ready to go. On my last visit with him, 2 days before he died, he gave me a heartfelt thank you and told me he would not be here much longer. Ms. Fairy was so strong and handled all of his arrangements on her own even though many people offered to help. I kept a very close eye on her for the first several months and then she went to live with a relative out in the country but that only lasted for a few months. When she came back to the house, it had been completely ransacked. The local Meals on Wheels program and her church helped her put things back together. She was so independent though—she did not want anyone to move in with her and she did not want any help.
She actually lived like that for about 4 more years and then her neighbor tracked me down from a card I had left with her years before when I was caring for Mr. Jones. She let me know that Adult Protective Services had placed her in a nursing home because she was deemed to be incompetent to make decisions and care for herself—basically self neglect. I visited her there and we actually ended up getting her on hospice services as well. She was not altogether “there” mentally but she did remember our chaplain and me and let us back into her life and actually allowed us to help her and care for her. I was finally able to spoil her with some warm pajamas and robes and slippers and she even let our nursing assistant paint her nails. She lived about 2 months in the nursing home and I was with her the afternoon that she died—very peacefully. I am so blessed to be able to do this kind of work.

Initially saw meadowlarks fly and land East side of spit… then saw another bird flew into shrub containing a WEME …but seemed to light and flew wrong for WEME….when i got it in binoculars…O..a Northern Shrike(.ie the recent adult NSHR)
2 meadowlarks took off , with the shrike in hot pursuit of one that looked to be a somewhat smaller (than the others) sized WEME.They flew over and disappeared into a small bushy arbutus tree on the west side of the spit.
Then i watched a final meadowlark fly slowly and deliberately over from original area…and attack the shrike!
I wonder about parental instincts or dominance or what was motivating the meadowlark.Needless to say the shrike didn’t like that! It began to dive bomb the meadowlark and a general skirmish ensued with the meadowlark holding its own.
Following Video shows a glimpse of the end of a diving pass by the NSHR at the WEME. Then it begins to preen.Eventually they went their separate ways….although i didn’t see the other 2 WEME leave the arbutus tree.

"Knowing the anxious desire of the Government to relieve Vicksburgh, I felt assured that if within the compass of its power, the siege would be raised; but when forty-seven days and nights had passed with the knowledge I then possessed that no adequate relief was to be expected, I felt that I ought not longer to place in jeopardy the brave men whose lives had been entrusted to my care...If it should be asked why the Fourth of July was selected as the day for the surrender, the answer is obvious. I believed that upon that day I should obtain better terms. Well aware of the vanity of our foes, I knew they would attach vast importance to entrance on the Fourth of July into the stronghold of the great river, and that, to gratify their national vanity, they would yield then what could not be extorted from them at any other time." -Lt Gen John Pemberton
“The enemy surrendered this morning. The only terms allowed is their parole as prisoners of war. This I regard as a great advantage to us at the moment. It saves, probably, several days in the capture, and leaves troops and transports ready for immediate service. Sherman, with a large force, moves immediately on Johnson, to drive him from the State.”-Maj Gen Ulysses Grant
