There was a time when I moved through the world using a borrowed blueprint.
It functioned.
But it never truly fit.
I learned to adapt, to translate myself, to smooth the edges so the system would read me correctly.
The cost of that adaptation remained invisible — even to the instruments meant to measure it.
Only later did the pattern reveal itself.
This mind was never faulty.
It was simply built along a different geometry.
Not a label to wear,
but a structure to recognize.
Some architectures pass unnoticed when they are disguised as something else.
Some signals cancel themselves out under constant adjustment.
And some truths only surface once the masks are set aside.
This is not a rejection of maps or cartographers.
It is an acknowledgment that not every terrain can be understood from a single snapshot.
If you have ever felt misread by the mechanisms meant to define you,
know this:
A system’s limitation does not define the value of what it fails to measure.
There are many ways to function.
Not all of them are standard.
None of them are broken.
— Amon the Purple
Some paths are unclear not because we are lost — but because the map was drawn for someone else.
Another shot from the rejection pile... I've been unable get a good shot of this sculpture - 'One and Other' by Anthony Gormley. At least this one shows the setting in more dramatic light.
Please refrain from posting any group invite icons / awards icons or any other images, thanks.
Captured this image as two great white egrets had been active in a courtship ritual when one just all of a sudden turned away as if in complete rejection of the other. It was such fascinating behavior to watch and so interesting. Just when you think everything is great it suddenly changes and the one egret seemed to be in utter dismay.

Meet Lincy.
I met Lincy a few days back - on Halloween in Bethesda where I was to return a rental lens during a lunch break. Since it was Halloween and actually by habit I carried my camera - just in case I ran into anyone interesting and I was not disappointed though I came close. After one polite rejection from a yooung couple in a haste and a few minutes of wandering around I decided to head back to office when I saw Lincy walking past with a companion. I knew I had a nice subject but was a little hesitant given her animated conversation and a little unsure if she was upset. But luckily a few minutes later I saw them walk back again this time carrying lunch and I decided to take my chance and make my request. Turned out Lincy was actually extremely friendly and needed very little convincing. She was quite enthusiastic and eager to help out. I did mention my initial hesitation and learned that she works for a car dealership closeby and it being the end of the month was a very hectic day and I guess that explained her animated conversation with Mat. Matt her companion had recently joined the dealership and was responsible for delivery while she was with inventory. Of course her dark makeup was for Halloween but would actually work to my advantage for a nice edgy look especially the eye makeup and the lips. I also wanted to utilize include bright red nail polish. In a few minutes of conversation I learned that Lincy was a mix - German Irish and Scottish and loved knitting (and I think baking). . More importantly she was very much a photographer herself primarily shooting landscape - so she pretty much needed no explanation when I said I needed to find good light She was no stranger to modeling having done that quite a few times which was apparent with her confidence and the easy nonchalance with the posing and effortlessly switching expressions (which cannot be easy on a busy street and with a stranger). I liked quite a few of her pics so had some difficulty with choices but am going with this since I liked her direct look. I also liked how the fingers and reds draw attention and compliment her stunning eyes and bring out her beauty (not that she needs help there). One thing that she would change about the world today - have people be a little more nicer to each other. A great sentiment indeed!
I did a little touch up in PS - but feedback is most welcome.
Thank you Lincy for being a part of this project (and Mat for your patience). If you would do visit the page and like a copy of your pics please drop me a note. Wish you all the very best - it was indeed a pleasure meeting you.

The End.
Happy, happy weekends Flickr friends. School holidays start tomorrow so I promise to catch up with everyone over the next few days. Thanks for all the wonderful comments on this little series this week. Believe it or not, they all started out from pictures I took at the beach last weekend. So, it's sort of been a week of beach shots with a bit of a twist. Thank you all again for being so supportive. Liz :-)
I don’t get many close-up images of the Purple Emperor, as groundings are fairly infrequent in the north-west Leicestershire colonies; however, I was lucky enough to be able to observe a ‘rejection drop’ at one of the hills. A rejection drop is where an already mated female craftily leads a male to the ground in order to escape his amorous intentions. After spiralling down together and crashing, the male quickly got the message and shot back up into the canopy. I wasn’t immediately sure what I was witnessing, but when the penny dropped I knew I had to move fast. I raced forward the 20ft or so to where they had landed, and came across a humongous and beautiful empress just laying there in the Willowherb. I won’t forget those hindwing eyes that she flashed at me as I got close - they were absolutely breathtaking and literally stopped me in my tracks. I can see how that defence mechanism would easily startle a predator. She gave me about a minute to take some photos, before taking to the air and flying over my left shoulder. An incredible experience.
“Not in front of our Flickr-friends..!”
As it is often the case with wildlife photography, it pays to wait patiently for that special moment that adds an outstanding element to the image.
Many thanks to everyone who chooses to leave a comment or add this image to their favorites, it is much appreciated.

After 13 out of 15 Airliners.net rejections in the last week so I thought I would have some creative fun with this shot...
The drama: Ayria - Lovely Day
btw, the LOVELY word is actually on the window and not photoshopped!
I've been listening to this song for hours and my head aches but that doesn't stop me
It keeps repeating and now my eyes burn
They have turned red and I do this to myself
I should get out but there's nowhere to go on a Tuesday night
This restless feeling, there is no cure for so I wait
It's a lovely day to never feel this way again
And will I ever find someone who understands my mind?
I don't think so
It's just a sea of faces and vacant stares and they will never have to be in this place again
I have your number but I won't call it
I fear rejection more than being alone
I'm almost nauseous
Maybe I'm dying?
Over dramatic, but that's what happens when you have too much time to think about the end
The lights look blurry now and the cars pass me by on an energetic street that I have no part of
I will wait for you to find me but I know you never will
I will seek to you to save me but I know you never will
I will try to regain passion but I'm faltering
I will try to overcome this but I'm overwhelmed again
Being alone is where I find my peace of mind. Being alone is where I find comfort - away from the panic, the drama, the machine of society. Loving myself, expressing myself without fear of judgement, critique, rejection - My sanctuary, Me.
No MM group for me anymore, tired of their rejections, so this is my macro shot for this morning. Please don't comment using that group's name.
Honestly, I was going to use this shot and try that unmentionable group once again this morning, after I saw a wonderful shot from one of my Flickr friends (see comments). However, I "assumed" the theme was "Mustard" -- hence all the effort I put into this shot. Ha! Ha! Read the theme right before posting ... NOT MUSTARD! My poor brain ...
You see, I wasn't supposed to use that group again anyway! Thank You, Jesus, to You be the glory!
May God bless you all through the coming week. And may all your macro shots be tiny! It is Monday after all ...

I often cook the children their supper. Sometimes they don't like me trying to broaden their taste buds... tonight's rejection was my rather tasty pork loin stir fry.
Here's my answer... try it or you can have Alphabetti Spaghetti. Every day. They hadn't heard of Alphabetti Spaghetti before.
I'm often asked how to do these selective colour pop images... here's my 'how to' tutorial youtu.be/YzuL_madwfw

- Poor lighting (Cloudy): Common angle cloudy day shots of common/standard power are generally not accepted.

Public rejection....this is the famous 'waterwall' at Melbourne's National Gallery with spooky children
It is a member of the bird family Columbidae (doves and pigeons). In common usage, this bird is often simply referred to as the 'pigeon'. The domestic pigeon descended from this species. Escaped domestic pigeons have raised the populations of feral pigeons around the world. Wild rock doves are pale grey with two black bars on each wing, whereas domestic and feral pigeons vary in colour and pattern. Few differences are seen between males and females. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs (young) per brood. Both parents care for the young for a time. Habitats include various open and semi-open environments. Cliffs and rock ledges are used for roosting and breeding in the wild. Originally found wild in Europe, North Africa, and western Asia, pigeons have become established in cities around the world. The species is abundant, with an estimated population of 17 to 28 million feral and wild birds in Europe alone. S20N_200

Het jong krijgt zo nu en dan wat pikken van de ouders, ik denk dan ook dat het afstoten van het jong is begonnen.
I think that the rejection of the young has begun.
Discarded roses lie in a public waste bin.
I came across this scene at the end of the day, and I wondered what the backstory might be. Was a proposal rejected? Was there a family feud? Were flowers an unsatisfactory replacement for a more tangible gift? Is the the sign of unrequited love?
I think that every illustrator has their dream jobs that they hope to get. One of mine was to get a cover of TV Guide. Back in the day TV Guide (a weekly American magazine with TV listings, articles and gossip) had some great covers. In the 70s and 80s some of the best illustrators did covers. In going through my work for archiving I came across a little series that I did especially for them to see. It was probably a little too early in my career. I did send them to their art director. I got a nice rejection letter back saying that they liked my work but it was too similar to an artist they were already using. I wish he told me which artist.

In this shot, taken through my office window, the male has just given the fledgling a seed and has turned away not in rejection but in preparation of moving down to the feeder perch to get another morsel.
This past winter was long and bitterly cold, and I was happy to see that Eastern bluebirds found sustenance at my feeder, eating Wild Birds Unlimited's Southeastern No Mess seed. Once insects returned with warmer weather, I fully expected the bluebirds to depart, but no, they kept coming back to supplement their natural diet. And yesterday I looked out my office window, and there was this bluebird fledgling being fed by the male. Having them feed on seeds is so much easier for me than feeding them meal worms.

Press 'L' to view in lightbox. A representation of rejection, abandonment, not belonging as well as being scorned by society. This is pretty much the most personal piece for me so far. Huge thanks once again to Stefanie as well as her sister for helping out. instagram.com/yanweitan
