They kept begging for more applications, but turned me down. That's a real blow. After spending a whole day in bed, I'm back up and re-tooling.
Goddammit, I will make it happen.
I take it she said no?
Edit: Upon receiving repeated feedback from a source that shall not be named, I would like to state that she did, in fact, say yes. (Happy now?)
Feb. 17, 2016. Burlington, MA.
Protest at the administrative offices of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Burlington, MA to demand a moratorium on deportations and ICE’s rejection of the applications for 287(g) agreements from the Sheriff Departments of Essex and Plymouth counties. If signed, organizers believe the agreement would increase the number of immigrant families being destroyed by deportation.
According to organizers between 2005 and 2010, 87% of cases involving undocumented immigrants with U.S. citizen children ended in deportation. Of all children in U.S. public schools, 6.9% are children of undocumented parents and 82% of those children are U.S. citizens. The Congressional mandate that sets a bed quota requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain 34,000 undocumented immigrants on any given night fuels the destruction of immigrant families. ICE is the only law enforcement agency that is subject to a national quota system for incarceration.

I brought my camera up and this man angrily waved and shouted "No!". I guess he didn't hear my shutter or else I had to run for my life.
Greens/EFA MEPs mark the rejection of ACTA by the European Parliament
After more than two years of campaigning by the Greens, the ACTA agreement was finally rejected by the European Parliament today.
The last few months have seen heavy lobbying by pro-ACTA forces come head to head with grass roots anger at the agreement as more and more information on it became public.
...
Today was a victory for the Citizens of Europe who contacted their MEPs, signed the petitions and marched in the streets.
The Greens/EFA group will continue keep a close eye on developments, keep citizens informed and fight for internet freedom and digital rights.

This photo was rejected from the Dalicious 6: Occult lineup for some reason or another.
This one's just kind of boring, and you can see the dirty details of the setup. On the other hand, you get a great shot of Hypatia's wizard costume, which is probably the thing I was saddest to cut. (Her hair and Lark's hair really do not go well together right next to each other, and she's not the type to sit quietly while roleplaying.) But it's a great overall view of the original setup.
The final setup ended up with the table flipped the other way. (There was never a sixth player -- I couldn't decide which one would be the tiefling warlord. But the character sheet is there anyways. Pretend she went to go get snacks.)

Everyone says that loves hurts, but that's not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Everyone confuse these things with love but reality, love is the only thing in this world that covers up all the pain and makes us feel wonderful again.
When two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, no one can ever tear them apart.
We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly - Sam Keen, from To Love and Be Loved.
Love is a language spoken by everyone but understood only by the heart.
Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it's everything in between that makes it all worth living.
Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control.
Falling in love is like jumping off a really tall building. Your brain tells you it is not a good idea, but your heart tells you, you can fly.
What is love? In math: an equation; in history: a war; in chemistry: a reaction; in art: a heart; in me: YOU.
You really love him, don't you? a simple psychological question, no name was mentioned but suddenly someone came into your mind
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. - Marilyn Monroe.
You don't love someone because they're perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they're not. - Jodi Picoult.
You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. - Dr. Seuss.
You've got to dance like there's nobody watching. Love like you'll never be hurt. Sing like there's nobody listening. And live like it's heaven on earth. - William W. Purkey.
It takes a minute to have a crush on someone an hour to like someone and a day to love someone but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
According to Greek mythology humans were originally created with 4 arms 4 legs and a head with 2 faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.

I'm pleased with the idea although not so much the execution. I still have no idea how to manipulate light... comments welcomed.
I decided to take this shot because I felt a bit sorry for my old A330. It gave me the best years of it's life and I could see it looking a bit sad. It deserved one more day in the sun.

It had been a discouraging day. I had wandered for nearly an hour and a half and all I had were four rejections, and I was trying to figure out where I was going wrong. Was my attitude off, was my breath bad, was I too demanding? About to give up, I noticed a bright red jacket in the shade of my favourite colonnade.
This is Jenn. I approached her as she was waiting for her bus and gave her a bit of my spiel. She was receptive to the idea but hesitant to be photographed because it was the end of the day and she felt like she didn’t look her best. I understood and didn’t push, but we continued to talk. Jenn's smile is so bright and personable that I ended up telling her about my string of rejections. I guess she took pity on me because she loosened her hair, shook it out, and agreed to pose for me. The conversation with Jenn really lifted my spirits, and being allowed to make a portrait of her was icing on the cake. This was another example of a surprise moment that totally changed my day and why this project has become so addicting.
Thank you Jenn for having pity on me, our conversation really lifted my spirits that afternoon and then allowing me to make a portrait of you was icing on the cake. Thanks again.

E let me fold up all of the rejection letters from her last round of applications for summer associateships. Thankfully she had had some non-rejection letters too.
"If you could take one thing away from all this, remember that rejection and denial are self inflictions".
Where do I even begin with this man? Before I get into his story, I feel it is necessary to proclaim the magnitude of admiration I have for this man. I don't exaggerate when I say he's one of the most respectable men I've met. When I first approached him, he was on his way to grab lunch. He invited me to join him and even paid for my meal. This was the first time I've shared a meal with a stranger and I have to say: getting to know someone over a meal, makes it all the better.
This man's name is Aaron. No one would guess that a man of his stature would originate from such humble beginnings. He was raised as a foster child, and many people couldn't empathize with the kinds of struggles he's faced growing up. The most difficult part of it was "the preconceived notion that his life would amount to nothing significant". People would actually say that to his face, labeling him based off his circumstances. I couldn't imagine the kind of rejection one would feel hearing that as a kid. Once Aaron turned 18, he joined the military, where he was exposed to the harshest realities of life and death. An event of explosions in Iraq led to his medical discharge, where his life had a turning point. All his life, he was told that he wasn't significant and that he couldn't achieve anything. It was at this point in life that something clicked inside of him, and he decided to stop believing in those lies. He became determined to disprove those lies and achieve greatness. As a young veteran filled with ambitions, he started out as a 20 hour bank teller, the lowest position in the financial industry. However, he was always the hardest worker among his co-workers and because of it, he began rising to the top.
Today, Aaron has his dream job that he is passionate about, as well as the love of his life.
Aaron, you are an incredible inspiration to me, thank you for being stranger #71.
