I have a couple of photos from this south coast trip that can be rescued or where the bubbles look like extra texture (I hope - if you are kind!). I'll need to visit the Nikon Centre in Paris I think to get it seen to ..
I thought this photo sort of best represented my role during the bike ride and that's why I've posted it, regardless of the bubbles.
It also reminds me that I've now (re-)discovered a really interesting part of the English coast line - and it's really so typically English. I will take the time to travel along it again sometime soon ... in a less hurried journey from Paris to Southampton perhaps and staying again at the lovely B&B in Greatstone on Sea and with a working camera.

We have so far received donations of around £2200 to go towards the research being conducted on MND, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and SMA. Thanks to everyone who has supported in money or in encouragement. le-march.blogspot.com/
I'm wondering what my dad would think of all this? Probably mostly bemused that he is the centre of so much activity and attention and maybe quietly proud.
Now, I'm heading back to Paris and back to "normality".

First we had spätzle (small dumplings of seasoned dough) from the spätzle hut in the background. Then we went to the ice cream (eis) stand in the foreground for dessert. A nice -- if late -- lunch beside Lake Starnberg.

Workers mending carriages at GNR Doncaster works, circa 1916. At this time carriages were still made from wood although iron and steel carriages were becoming more common. Doncaster works, known as the ‘Plant Works’ opened in 1853, making and repairing locomotives and rolling stock for the Great Northern Railway. At this time the works employed around 3500 workers.
The Third open teak LAV corridor coach bearing the number 3047 carrying "Great Northern" livery.

The Secretary of the LNER Carriage Association kindly advises :
"The Gresley carriage in the foreground is Great Northern Railway 3047 which was a 1906 Doncaster built Open Third to Diagram GN224 and classed as 'Sheffield Stock'.
I assume that the picture was taken in 1906 and the carriage would have been new although it is unclear from the photo.
The clerestory carriage in the background looks like one of the East Coast Joint Stock 1894 built diners (like .. 189). These were modified from side gangways to [central] gangways in the early 1900s and the picture shows what appears to be a carriage with teak mountings ready for a gangway to be fitted"
