This is a photograph from the Kinnegad 5KM Road Race, Fun Run, and Walk held in Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 10th July 2013 at 20:00. The race is organised by Coralstown/Kinnegad GAA Club who also provide the facilities for Race HQ, parking, and after-race refreshments. This is the 4th running of this race and each year it has got better and better. This year there were over 300 participants who took to the line on one of the hottest days of the Irish summer of 2013. The fast relatively flat course provided a great opportunities for fast times and personal bests for all participants.

Electronic Timing and Event Management were provided on the night by Red Tag Timing [www.redtagtiming.com/]

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 300 people took part in tonight's race with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.

Weather: The race found itself in the middle of Ireland's summer heatwave. Temperatures at the race start were well over 25C which made Kinnegad feel like somewhere in southern Spain. The shaded kilometers in Boreen Bradach were a welcome relief to all of the runners, joggers, and walkers. A slight westerly breeze also helped to cool runners down.

Course: This is a fast flat course. The course is right handed. The course starts on the old N4 Sligo Road (goo.gl/maps/JWpnK) and proceeds to quickly turn right onto the Killucan road. There is a downhill stretch at the 1km mark where just after the course takes a right turn onto Boreen Bradach (a well known walking route). The race stays with the boreen, which has a very good road surface, until about 800 meters to go where the race emerges into a housing estate. The final right turn is onto the main street for the finish (goo.gl/maps/es2Up).

Location Map: Start/finish areaS on Google StreetView and Google Aerial provided above and below on this description. Kinnegad is very accessible on the motorway and national road network of Ireland positioned at the intersection of the M4/N4/M6/N6 roads.

Refreshments: A great spread of refreshments, served outdoors, were provided in the club house afterwards.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

This is a photograph from from the Naomh Mhuire AC Daingean 5KM Road Race and Fun run which was held in Daingean, Co. Offaly Ireland on Sunday 26th June 2016 at 12:00. The race started and finished close to Daingean village in the GAA club grounds and took a right handed loop out towards Tullamore and back in country roads to the main street and back to the finish. The course could be described as mostly flat and fast however the final 400m sees a reasonably significant climb up to the finish in the GAA grounds.

This race is race number 4 of the Offaly Race Series 2016 which sees seven 5KM road races being held over the summer in County Offaly hosted by Offaly-based athletics clubs.

The Naomh Mhuire AC members and helpers put on a great race - well organised, well stewarded, accurate course etc. There was also a very big spread of refreshments after the race in the tent beside the GAA club building.

The race was event managed and timed by MyRunResults.comOur full set of photographs from this race are available on our Flickr photostream at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157670171879676

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

WHOSE BOTTLE?

One afternoon Mary Maud's mother said to her, "Mary Maud, you may take John Henry out-of-doors back of the woodshed. Play there until I call to you." Now Mary Maud liked to play back of the woodshed. There were big logs her father had sawed through. She had seen him split some of these chunks apart with a wedge. These pieces she had seen him split with an axe into just the right size for mother's stove. The ground was covered with bark and chips. Mary Maud liked these.

She found a large piece of bark and set John Henry down on it. Then she built him little houses out of chips and bark. When he was tired of this game she played Jack-in-the-box for him. Some of the pieces of logs were hollow. She climbed into one and popped up and down. This made him laugh.

After a time Mary Maud's little pet lamb, Woolly, came to play with them. Then mother ran out with John Henry's bottle, for she thought it was time for his lunch. John Henry thought so, too, and took the bottle in a hurry and began to drink. When the milk was almost gone, Mary Maud said, "Why, John Henry, aren't you going to give Woolly any? Aren't you selfish? If you don't give him some, I will myself." And she did. You can see what John Henry thought about it.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hundreds of family members, civic leaders and community partners gathered at the Clarion Inn in Orlando to bid farewell to more than 200 Army Reserve Soldiers from the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) during a deployment ceremony conducted Feb. 24, 2018.

“You are looking at an amazing formation of Soldiers who can take on any mission,” said U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Deborah L. Kotulich, commanding general, 143d ESC, addressing the troops and their guests packed into the Clarion Inn’s Grand Ballroom. “I for one couldn’t be more grateful or proud of their tireless effort.”

The ceremony honored the men and women of Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 143d ESC, who volunteered to leave their friends and loved ones to join the thousands and men and women supporting three peacekeeping operations in Central Asia.

“We will soon oversee the sustainment needs of hundreds of units conducting countless missions throughout Central Command’s Theater of Operations,” said Kotulich. “We have some of the finest military minds who will manage this complex logistical system that ensures the world’s finest military is properly supplied and equipped to overcome any adversary.”

Although their deployment will not officially begin until the Soldiers board a plane bound for their pre-mobilization site, Kotulich recognized the precious time her Soldiers sacrificed to prepare for the year-long journey.

“We went through not one but two major exercises in 2017,” said Kotulich. “The meticulous planning, coordination and execution for those exercises took place as the Army Reserve began implementing Ready Force X, a readiness program designed to prepare units to deploy in the shortest time possible. The [operational tempo] caused by this major transformation proved challenging but absolutely necessary to ensure our Army Reserve is the most capable, combat-ready and lethal federal reserve force in our nation’s history.”

To better provide a proper sendoff of ceremonial proportions, the 143d ESC turned to several community organizations who always stand ready to support America’s service members. Volunteers from United States Overseas Central Florida served cakes and refreshments, while the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2093 Community Band played popular patriotic tunes.

“It was a great honor to provide live music for these brave men and women,” said Wilbur C. Smith, the band’s director. “It’s a small but ‘harmonious’ way to express our gratitude.”

The formation’s dismissal signaled the Soldiers’ to find their friends and loved ones huddled throughout the ballroom. As parents, spouses and children embraced their Soldier one last time, Kotulich recognized the many sacrifices that will soon settle on those who must remain on the homefront.

“We owe our families a debt of gratitude for the love and support that allows each and every one of us to do this,” said Kotulich. “We understand this isn’t easy for them, but their efforts give us the strength to proceed forward and achieve more than we thought possible.”

This is a photograph from the start of 28th Annual South O'Hanlon 5KM Road Race which was held at Seneschalstown GAA Grounds, Beauparc, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 1st July 2015 at 20:00. The race is part of the Meath County Board series of races. South O'Hanlon are a well known running club in Meath and beyond and this road race is amongst the longest running road races in Meath and Leinster. The route (www.mapmyrun.com/profile/2980976/) starts in the beautiful Beauparc Station where the Navan-Drogheda industrial railway crossing is situated. A left handed loop course around Yellow Furze parish brings runners back to Beauparc and into the finish in Seneschalstown GAA. The race was ran in beautiful summer weather with a temperature of over 20C recorded at the start of the race. This meant perfect, if a little hot, conditions for the race with little or no breeze. After the race runners and families were able to enjoy the great spread of refreshments outside in the sunny summer evening. Over 200 people took part and the results by Precision Timing are available here [www.precisiontiming.net/result.aspx?v=2753]. Refreshments at the 2013 MCAS Yuma Airshow.

The Athlone 10KM and 5KM road races were held in Clonown Village, Co. Roscommon, Ireland on Sunday 28th of April 2013 at 14:30 and 15:00. Clonown is a small townland on the west bank of the River Shannon and is situated about 3 miles south of the town of Athlone. Whilst the townland is almost completely rural it is accessed easily from major routes and towns by the M6 motorway.

This race completely defied the fact that it is only the second year of it's existence. Every aspect of the organisation was professional: from stewarting, registration, start of races exactly on time, car-parking, and post race refreshments. The 10KM route followed an anti-clockwise loop. The race started on the L2035 Togher Road (about 100m from Clonown Centre) and heads towards the old Ballinasloe Rd and back via Creggan with the finish at the Clonown Community Centre. The 5KM run was added this year to provide a managable challenge for people who are following programmes such as Operation Transformation. The 5KM race route follows a meandering around the townland. The race starts at the church in Clonown and head clockwise around the Ballinaculla townland which offers lovely views of the River Shannon. The route then goes to the Drumlosh road and runs for 1.5 km before the roundabout which is the 3km mark. The race then turns around and returns back to the village and finish at Clonown Community Centre. Both races share some of the race route for the Flatline Athlone Half held in September (www.athlonehalfmarathon.com/) which makes the race routes very fast and flat.

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 400 people took part in both events with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.

Weather: This was a wonderfully bright dry afternoon but a very strong wind made difficult running conditions in places.

Course: Very flat accurately measured course on rural roads and bog roadway. There were waterstops provided at various points and by locals along the route. Very well stewarded.

Refreshments: There were lots of refreshments served in the community center aftwards.

Location Map: This is the start/finish area on Google StreetView [goo.gl/maps/W0Hxc]

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

If you want to contribute something for these images?

We do not charge for these images. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the image(s) you request are good enough that you would ordinarily pay for their purchase we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible.
