As much as I love Bloody Marys, I enjoyed this Gin & Tonic much more than the Bloody Mary I had on this particular morning. It probably had something to do with the fact that the lounge seemed quite warm.
Chilled soba / buckwheat noodles topped with thinly sliced cucumber, radishes, green onions, red bell pepper, carrots in an asian salad dressing (soy sauce, rice whine vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, chili flakes, sesame oil, lime juice) garnished with some sesame seeds.
I have lived my whole life near Utah Lake. Growing up, I always felt like it was a dirty, yucky lake that was only nice when enjoyed from afar. I suppose those impressions were formed partly because the polluted Geneva Steel plant sat long on it's shores. I've also flown over it and watched the blue water turn into various shades of brown as the shallow bottom of this natural lake showed right through, making it seem like the lake was a large puddle of muddy sludge.
This summer I decided it was time to confront those notions and take a look at the lake up close. What I found was refreshing and radiant! I love looking at this lake from my city each day while I go about my business, and now I find myself drawn to the shoreline again and again to witness the beauty of nature in my own community.
