This was a tedious shoot, and it taught me how to be very patient and zen 😁. The water droplets were carefully placed on a piece of thread and it was photo-stacked to make sure all the droplets were as sharp as possible. Over all it was a fun experiment! The setup shot is in the description below.

This really belongs to the series just posted. But I decided to let it find it's own way.

There is a rather lengthy description www.flickr.com/photos/algo/902941418/

The drop is just about to drip -- I suppose it thinks it is becoming two drops, and so refracts the single flower twice. ( farm2.static.flickr.com/1074/902941398_ebf41af630.jpg )

This is my first photo series here on Flickr. Welcome to the "Theatre of Glass".

I will be uploading more to this collection as time goes on.

All comments welcome and thank you in advance :)

I've rarely seen a rainbow when flying. My paraglider shadow can be seen on the sandstone cliffs.

Ever since I caught a refraction of a sun pillar, I've been wanting to photograph a refraction of sunbeams. So when some appeared from this break in the clouds, I rushed to take some pics. They soon went, and I think I prefer the later one, without sunbeams, shown below. (Sorry -- it is occasionally not available -- not sure why.)

'refraction sunbeams' On Black: See your photos in a new light

Imagine walking alone on a pristine black sand beach as the sun starts to color the horizon. Then start to smile as the morning sunlight effervescently sparkles off of countless faceted chunks of ice sprawled on the shore.

Welcome to Iceland's well-named Diamond Beach. I spent a glorious but hectic half-hour there last month running between orbs of ice with my tripod looking like a crazed sandpiper...and had a blast!

This shot is a 5 stop HDR which allowed me to capture the wicked dynamic range without losing the wonderful lines of retreating surf.

Cheers!

The refraction always catches my eye.

By using a bubble trapped in a glass, I captured the light being refracted through it.

It reminded me of a silk scarf.

Light refraction through a spiderweb. I like the way the light breaks up into almost rectangular shapes if you use a small aperture, and the way those shapes sit alongside this fence's grid pattern. I guess a spiderweb is a kind of grid too, although this particular one was quite irregular, the kind that is more like a distorted 3D box than an almost 2D net

...or is that refracted reflections?

I know my pictures are of pretty mundane subjects -- no mountains, deserts, canyons or wild seascapes, or riots etc. So when I do catch something unusual, I get pretty excited.

Yes, there are plenty of Sun Pillars on flickr, but are there any other refractions of sun pillars? -- Someone will probably come up with one --- but probably not too many.

So here is my most unusual picture. (Although I didn't know it when taking.)

There is a direct view of the sun pillar in the first comment, below.)

(Sorry for another refraction so soon, but the last one was posted in error.)

Maybe not 101 but loads!

The hardest thing was placing a flower under the web with tweezers without knocking all the dewdrops off!

This is a photo of refraction patterns in shallow water on the shore of Pembroke Beach.

This is a close-up B&W HDR photo of morning sunlight refracted through water in a wine glass onto the kitchen counter top. After transferring this photo to the computer, I was surprised to see that the shape of the shadow, and the pattern of light seem to portray the orgasmic energies of the body.
