A cozy evening at the lake... This one unique combination of colours and a clear reflection... Makes a perfect shot
I fell like I have been in hibernation over the last 2 months! Winter in Australia is really nothing to complain about, but the cold morning of late have got the better of me, that or i have just been lazy and wanted to sleep in...A 3.15am wake up and in the car on the way to something worth taking photos of. Despite a lot of clouds and some early rain and my feet white cold and numb i got some ok shots i think.
Shot taken through the window of a vaporetto stop with the Rialto Bridge in front and a gondola reflected from behind.
Cropped and reprocessed this port side view using Instagram. The iconic "Point Reyes" shipwreck was unfortunately damaged in Feb 2016 by a couple of zealous and careless spinning wool image makers. She is still here and a wonderful subject for many a photographer, but her port side and stern are severely damaged.

Baggersee am Rhein bei Breisach heute nachmittag. Habe aus drei RAW-files ein HDR erstellt. Ein bißchen Tonemapping und leichte Korrekturen im PS, das war's dann.

Another photo of a painting by my daughter Bonnie [I seem to be in the mood for blue twilight pictures]
A gadwall drifts by a yellow iris early one morning near my home in Montana. June 2025. I was sitting in my portable blind at the edge of the pond.
It has been great getting back to a normal pace of life since the wedding and honeymoon. This past weekend I was able to enjoy an afternoon out at Umstead State Park hiking around big lake. I didn't take many pictures except for some during an encounter with a deer...which I will post later. On my way back to the car I noticed this great reflection. The sun had already dropped behind the trees and was about to set so there was a subtle light accentuating the tree trunks against the shadows of the forest. This lake is always very still at the end of the day and is normally a great place for sunsets. But today the light provided other opportunities.
