Walking home from work, this old, stone building on this corner is in shadow by evening, sun on the other side from where I am standing. Opposite it, behind where I am standing, is a modern and very bland and uninspiring office belonging to the Bank of Scotland, built a few years before the big 2008 crash when banks had money to build something nice if they wanted, but instead they still built something depressing, dull and banal. It's one saving grace is that the large glass windows on the modern building and also on the modern one across the road from here catch the evening sun and reflect it back, so you get this flickering light across this old building, all of it reflected off the uglier modern ones. Kept meaning to get a pic of it some sunny evening, finally I have!

As much as I love my hometown Amsterdam, every now and then I have to leave for a couple of days, because being here is an intense, beautiful, challenging and wicked experience that sometimes requires me to step out of my life, go away and come back after a little while. This helps me to see the city with new eyes and a new sense of appreciation, a rather simple yet effective way of rejuvenating the love-love relationship me and A-town have...now I'm back after a long weekend in another country, where luckily they have puddles as well...it's not Amsterdam, but I hope you like them anyway :)
