I saw this when driving past Chuck E Cheese at lunchtime - thought it was pretty...

This is one my neice took of herself in a mirror.

I did flip the picture though simply because I wanted the writing the right way round.

I must still be in a reflective mood :) This is one from just before Christmas.

So, some bad news (not critical just a bit of a fingers-crossed moment). I got a remote for Christmas to help with the selfie side of things. After much procrastinating, I decided to try it out the other night. However, upon reading the instructions, I could see it fitted onto the hot shoe....only mine didn't. I suddently noticed that one clip of the hot shoe was not only bent down flat, it had become bent across too.

Having thought about it, I only remember dropping my camera once, in June when out shooting with Olivier. It didn't fall far, and I made sure lens and functionality were ok, but must have missed the shoe.

Yesterday, I had to leave my camera in the shop in Chester whilst the man sends it away for an estimation. You don't realise how second-nature your camera is, until you don't have it. :(

The last set of shots I uploaded were from a display I saw in Birmingham. I absolutely love them, just the quirk and surreal feel to them. Definately something I want to explore this year.

More archive shots to follow more than likely :)

"And while we're on the topic of "crossing boundaries": my exhibit, opening July 3, will span across Portland... As part of my exhibit "A Storybook Look At Thought" at Caplan Art Designs 1019 NW 11th, Portland, OR 97209 www.caplanartdesigns.com one of my paintings will hang, simultaneously, in the window of Muse Art And Design 4224 Se Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215 www.museartanddesign.com - that painting (pictured) is titled "Renaissance". Caplan Art Designs is a gallery... Muse Art and Design is an art supply store... You're getting the playful humor here right?... Have fun! (And thanks for enjoying with me!)"

This summer has been very busy. Work, my daughter getting married, work, my son moving out, work and more work. Today I was finally able to take a break and think about taking some photos. I have been wanting to work on water drop reflections lately. Tonight my wife wanted to go gather some books to donate to our daughters teachers classroom. Right before we were to leave I looked outside and noticed that the last light of evening was perfect. I grabbed my tripod (an adventure in and of itself. I had to locate parts from the relocation of said tripod by my two year old). I put my macro lens on and set out to get the photo set up. These plants are both found in my garden. The cactus is a cold weather cactus and the flower is indian blanketflower. I misted the cactus and then started shooting.

This shot would not have been possible without a tripod and a cable release.

The specs:

Iso 200

105mm

f/40

5 second exposure

I did minimal treatment in Lightroom 3 and then published it.

I like the reflections of the flowers in the water droplets.

I like the contrast of the cactus and water.

I like the detail found on the cactus.

I like how many drops are found.

I would like to not have the thorn reflections over the flowers.

Night shoot in Bath on a cold March night using a Canon 1100D & Tripod. Playing around with the aperture and iso levels. On my way back from 5-aside saw there was a full moon and thought there might be some nice light and reflection on river. Nearly caught hypothermia as i was still in my kit with a knitted bobble hat. Bottled it when the swan swam by and switched to auto no flash. didn't have faith in my technique to capture it otherwise.
