A post for Sliders Sunday! Processed with an artistic painting effect in iPiccy. Taken at the Reflecting Pool at the Reinisch Rose Garden at Gage Park in Topeka, KS.
The ice at the reflecting pool in front of Lincoln Memorial was great for this Washington Monument shot. I used my lensbaby composer lens for this photo. In the background, you can see the World War II monument, the Smithsonian Castle and the Capitol dome.
Amazing sunset in Boston. Beautiful colors and skyline. It was very windy day, so did not get the mirror reflection of the buildings.

These three little fellas were huddled at the edge of the reflecting pool. Mom and dad were some where else. One or another kept falling in ! Here they are huddled for warmth!

In LA for Thanksgiving at my sister's, I managed to get out for a night of photos. Unfortunately this was the last shot of the evening as my battery ran out at the peak of the blue hour and like an idiot I left my spare back at the house. Doh! Was hoping to get shots of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Christmas tree and fountain at Grand Park. Oh well, there is always a next time.
Went to bed wayyy too late on Saturday but I was determined to wake up for sunrise on Sunday. I had already made up my mind up earlier in the day to go. Damn my decisiveness! But the sunrise turned out pretty cool. Worth the trip but crashed as soon as I got home.
Nothing to do with World War One, or Laurence Binyon's poem, but a chance encounter with a rock in a pool by the sea at Bamburgh in Northumberland.
This picture was taken with a very basic point and shoot camera. The sun was beginning to set and the sunlight just caught the top of the rock. I thought it made a nice image with the reflection of the blue sky in the pool so I pressed the shutter button ...
Looking down the reflecting pool towards the Lincoln Memorial. I'd love to get back to the same spot to watch the sun set behind the Memorial.
Looks much cooler large on black. I promise.
Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Fumihiko Maki. The rectilinear building is oriented forty-five degrees to solar north where all its sides are exposed to the sun. The form has been chiseled to create a concaved angular profile that is also a natural expression of the two level building. Clad in sandblasted white Brazilian granite, the surfaces of the building are set in motion in a constant interplay with the sun in light and deep shadows.
Beautiful morning reflection.
