From www.wikipedia.com : "Reflecting Pool: A thin layer of water flowing over polished black granite, the Reflecting Pool runs east to west down the center of the Memorial (also see reflecting pool) on what was once Fifth Street. Visitors who see their reflection in the reflecting pool are supposed to see "a face of a person changed by domestic terrorism."
i've worked in dc for a few years now, and hadn't made it up into the washington monument yet. did that today!
The "mother church" and reflecting pool at the Christian Science Center, just 8 blocks or so from the site of the Boston Marathon bombings
The horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon happened just a few blocks from my apartment. I was outside and got a few iPhone shots, but then my block was on lock down and I couldn't get back home until about 7PM. When I finally was allowed in, I grabbed my m4/3 camera and headed back out to take some sunset shots at the CSC reflecting pool--a peaceful, tranquil, twilight place to reflect on a very tragic day in my city. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their friends and families.
Peace.
Area around Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool fenced off and undergoing extensive reconstruction. Southern promenade still passable to tourists.
Visiting Jason in Boston for the 4th of July in 2010.

Second day on my own in Boston.
Had lunch with Jason and then went up to the skydeck on the top of the Prudential Building. Boston isn't laid out on a grid or with much of a north/sound orientation so I was having trouble figuring out where I was. Being above it all and looking down helped get that sorted out.
Looking more south/southwest at the Christian Science Plaza, the Mother Church of the Christian Science religion, the Christian Science reflecting pool and Symphony Hall.

The day after 11 September 2001 terrorists attack on America I on Wednesday evening, 12 September, I attended and documented an 8 - 9 pm Candlelight Vigil was held at the US Capitol Reflecting Pool in Washington. I returned to the Reflecting Pool on Saturday, 22 September I took this photo of the candles left from the event.
I almost fell in while taking this picture. When I asked Jonathan what he would do, he said he'd take a picture, then laugh, and eventually help me out. Heh. I'd do the exact same thing.
