First trip out with the new camera, treated myself to a new d750. Down to Boscombe to start the day.Looked like there was going to be a colourful sunrise, but it all faded away to a drab grey morning.
2 IC&E -2's reflect on a quiet morning in the east wye at DJ (Davis Junction) ... 4200's very late SP details are a modelers dream, and they looked slick with the newer style "Laundry Chute" traction motor blower bump, as Dave Ingles used to call em...
Trees reflected in the Lake at Kew Gardens.
When I can get out with my camera again I want to try to perfect this kind of image. It depends heavily on the amount and position of the ripples, which aren't ideal in this shot. Unfortunately I only took the one casual shot of the reflection of these trees on this occasion - clearly I need to take far more to catch the ideal one.
With the processing, it's necessary to even up the considerable dynamic range between what is now the bottom of the image (originally the top) which was quite dark, and the top, which reflected the sky between the topmost branches of the trees, which was bright. The "soft contrast" slider in Nik Silver Efex is the crucial parameter for this but there are trade-offs between sufficiently brightening up the bottom of the image and losing details of the fine twigs at the top of the trees or having them too dark.

Sunset on the Black Cuillins. These mountains are always black except when sunset paints them with golden light.

The pier at Warhill Park reflects off the surface of a calm Lake Lanier on a late winter morning.

Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Built from granite blocks requiring a team of oxen and 3 days to bring from the canyon 9 miles away. Fourty years in the making, the early Mormon pioneers dedicated their finished work as the House of the Lord. Within these granite walls, family members are sealed together for time and all eternity, never to be seperated by death.
Yesterday the sun shone here in Owen Sound... I so enjoyed seeing blue skies... here they are reflected in the mouth of a river where the water hasn't quite frozen over yet... as it meets the ice of Georgian Bay.

I don't think it is possible to straighten a photo of houses in Amsterdam.
Many of them are leaning forward and were built that way on purpose.
They are very narrow and tall and when they move furniture they do it from outside.
There are hooks at the tops of many homes and they pull the furniture up that way.
If the house is leaning forward then they don't damage it when they move the furniture.
